Since then I've never taken my computer concerns anywhere but Jafferson Computer. They've dealt in similar fashion with hardware issues and with software issues. Their results are excellent and the price is perfect, because their approach is efficient, and intelligent, and prudent, and because their expertise and experience is deep. Recently they again excelled. They solved several similar but not identical operating-system problems in a pair of wonderful older Asus Windows 10 laptops: the fraternal twins Asus1 and Asus2. They were bought a month apart and are nominally the same exact model--but actually are not. Comparing the slight differences in the responses of the 'twins' helped Luke to analyze and diagnose. This sort of thing is why they're the best. Plus Mateen and Luke and anyone who has worked there are nice people.

Next time I need a repair, I'll have to try somewhere else because this place is CRAZY expensive. I paid $150 just for them to figure out what the solution was. That fee is not applied to what you pay for the actual repair should you decide to have them fix it like it would at a car repair place; it's just $150 to have them tell you what's wrong. They then quoted me $250 to reinstall windows and fix a broken hinge. I was iffy but said yes partially due to the sunken cost of the diagnosis and mostly because they promised me they would be able to upgrade my laptop to Windows 11, which the laptop had been telling me was not possible. So this seemed somewhat worth it to me to have them do. I went to pick up the fixed laptop, and immediately noticed that they had to drill totally new screw holes into it to install the new hinge. It looks pretty bad, but I'm really not picky about aesthetics so I let it go. But then they started it up to show me it was working, and I cannot even explain how INCREDIBLY slow it was as they tried to use it. Like, Windows 98 was faster than this thing was running, and I had previously never had any speed issues with it. I said something along the lines of how disappointed I was that I had now spent $400 and honestly couldn't even realistically use the laptop anymore. They offered to just install Windows 10 again instead, but like I said, the main reason I decided to pay all that money was because they assured me they could upgrade it to Windows 11. So they ended up refunding me for the repairs (I'm still out the diagnosis fee) and wiped the laptop and gave it back to me. After going home and doing some research on my own, I was able to reinstall Windows 10 on my own in about a half hour for $10. I cannot believe they were going to charge me almost $200 to do that!!! My laptop is now working exactly as it did before, and I learned my lesson.

It worked great but after a year, its battery degraded significantly. That was expected since I used it for gaming here and there along with academic and internship work. But when I took it back to Tech shop for battery replacement, they told me straightaway that they do not replace the battery and I need to use it with degraded battery. This happened in July. Fast forward to August end, fed up with poor battery backup, I returned it. But I needed a lightweight laptop given the one I have is a gaming one and is heavy. So I put a fresh request and went to the shop to pick up the new loaner laptop. This time the laptop they gave me had just 44% of battery health. The reason was that the laptops from new stock were already claimed. I was fine with that but just don't get it - What is the problem with battery replacement? It takes just 5 minutes to replace it and it is not glued to case like that of a MacBook. But they denied replacing the battery and giving loaner. Had to go back empty handed. If they can just order batteries for the laptops and replace them, it will save a lot of trouble for all.

We replaced it only to find that the power cords had been changed out from the big box store working in it... which then burned up the new fan and aio cooler. It was a MESS. I have never had this many issues with any unit I had built in the past or with the big box retailer who was selling the components. After some consulting, returns/exchanges, Seth and I ordered a different brand AIO. He installed it, clean installed windows, did some cable management, and got my computer back up and running. He did much more labor due to the issues that arose throughout the process, but never raised his price above his maximum estimate. It was an incredible experience. Since then I've been back to Joey and upgraded my machine with him and he even HELPED ME sell my old parts and replace them with the upgrades. I learned about ECIR from a friend and I instantly fell in love with the place. It not only checked these parameters but was super convenient in terms of location (important criteria during brutal Michigan winters). It is walking distance from the business school, the school of education and the school of public policy. Further, it is barely couple of blocks away from the frat house, pubs/ bars and restaurants where most parties happen (yet not at all noisy!) I live in a 2 bedroom apartment which is clean, spacious and well-furnished with latest equipments in the kitchen, bedroom, bathroom and living room. Besides, there is always Stoney (the go to guy) to help you with anything you may need. In terms of the community, ECIR is awesome! I have made some great life long friends (outside my business school) from around the world over numerous meals, activities and games like Mafia. People here are non fussy, down to earth and very friendly. Festivals such as Chinese New Year, Graduation Prom, International Fair and Diwali are celebrated here. Also, I love the community meals that happen every week where you get to taste amazing international cuisines made by fellow residents (Yes, free food!). Finally, this year Munger was clearly the hype but I decided to not follow the blind trend as ECIR is way more than just a community living. I love ECIR, it is indeed the best thing that happened to me after Ross here. I would highly recommend to people considering living around Tappan, State, Packard, Hill, Church, Brown or Main St.
