I'm going to throw this one out there because I was quite upset by it. Tonight my family got together to celebrate my parents' 25th anniversary at Domenicos Italian Restaurant in Beloit. I've been to this place many times and while some of my friends have had issues with the establishment, I've always given it a chance. I even have friends that work there, and on one occasion met with the owner and his lackey (because I have no idea what the guy's title is) to offer free consultation on their website. So tonight we brought about 30 people in and spent about 400 dollars on dinner. The wait staff was very rude, and even tried to charge us for the use of their plates for the anniversary cake serving. They also tried to charge me for a full price buffet when my 2 year old son ate scarcely more than a few spoonfuls of cottage cheese. We were told before he ate anything that he would be able to partake in a small amount of my food from the buffet at no charge. As if this wasn't bad enough the service was terrible, as we had to flag down the wait staff every time we needed anything (water, coffee, napkins, etc.) and rarely did anyone ever check in with us to see if we required anything. And when we did order anything outside of the buffet it took an abnormal amount of time for them to honor our requests. In the future for group events I will be certain to take my business elsewhere. I have even made a pledge to never frequent the establishment again for even my own personal dining needs. I know that in the past, people I know who have hosted public events at Domenico's have complained about their experience as well, and now it is blatantly clear why. I am usually the first person to stand up and support a local business and do what I can to help them grow. I felt appalled and disrespected by the way my family was treated tonight, especially considering how I've gone out of my way to offer my assistance and business to this establishment. This is a mistake I will never make again. read more

This place is kind of funny....it's really big, it appears to be nice...and then they serve you a burger king hamburger....(it seems like everything in this CAFETERIA) comes straight from the truck, maybe into the microwave?... I hate to be so crude, but I was liking the whole idea of the place until I started eating,....and after eating. Something has got to change....maybe they do good wedding receptions with all the space? because I don't imagine it's making it as a restaurant. Second time in this joint. The food is pretty good for a small town. Buffet is modest and has some healthier choices. One thing that kept me coming back was the well trained wait staff which was the praise I left on the comment card. If they can keep the AC under control and add some table cloths they would have gotten 5 out of 5. read more

We hosted our retirement party in the banquet hall at Domenico's recently. Many people commented that the food was tasty with attractive presentation, and how nice the hall looked. I reserved the banquet hall for lunch after my Mom's funeral. I worked with Peter for the reservation telling him that thought it would be for about 30 people but was unsure. He assured me he could accommodate if the number increased. On the day of the service the number did increase by almost double. In addition the guests arrived 30 minutes early. As promised Peter and his wife and staff scrambled to accommodate the size of the group and to increase the food order. They did a great job doing so and even moved up the serving time to accommodate. I can't say enough good things about the outstanding customer service. Top notch. Oh and the food was great as well!! Family of 7 visited this restaurant to preview for a rehearsal dinner. Best part was the salad bar. Service was good and attentive. We ordered 2 appetizers, bosco sticks and the Italian sampler. The bosco sticks were so hard we could have chipped our teeth, mushrooms on the sampler were tasteless, and the calamari was way overdone. For entrees, a couple of us ordered the buffet which included ribs, beef stroganoff, pizza, sausage and peppers, and tater tots. Pizza was not very good. Frozen pizza would have been better. Beef stroganoff had a film over it and the ribs were luke warm (at best) and slapped you back when bitten into. The rest of us had different Italian dishes...stuffed shells, chicken Marsala, spaghetti and meatballs and chicken scampi. All were equal to what you would purchase in the frozen food department at GFS. All were bland and watery...and they really couldn't have splurged for fresh mushrooms for the chicken Marsala? Needless to say, we won't be holding our event at this place. read more

My fiance and I put a deposit down at La Casa Grande (restaurant owned by same person) for our wedding in July. It fell through there, due to the pandemic, and we ended up having our wedding somewhere else. We asked what we could do with the money from our deposit. One of the managers, my main point of contact, said the owner, Peter, was offering gift cards, moving the deposit for the venue to a new date, or using the deposit toward catering an event. Since we were able to find a great, new venue that laid out the guidelines for us and allowed us to still have the wedding of our dreams, we decided to have Domenicos cater our rehearsal dinner. The manager was able to give me two estimates via email that I wanted and told me I needed to have the final order in two weeks before the event. So, two weeks before the rehearsal dinner, I call asking for him, and they tell me he no longer works there. No problem, I just need to talk to whoever is in charge of catering. I ask for that person - they don't have a head of catering, but another employee says they can help me. I begin to tell her about the event & I tell her I have a $500 deposit down from October of last year. She tells me since she doesn't have the information about my deposit, I need to speak with the owner, Peter. Again, no problem. I give my info for him to call me. Two days later, I still haven't been contacted, & I'm getting nervous because the event is in less than two weeks. I call again that day, give my info and ask for Peter to call me. Next day, I call again. So in all, I called 3 times that week with no response. I tell my parents about this (they paid the deposit & are also starting to get worried as they're hosting the rehearsal dinner). My dad gets Peter's personal number from a friend and calls him, asks for our money back, because now the event is a week away and we need to start looking at other options seeing as he hasn't been able to return a phone call. Peter says he'll "let him know his decision." My dad never gets a call back with a decision about whether he'll give our money back. My parents decide to have Anna Maria's cater dinner and hope they can get their money back at some point (which, by the way, their communication was a million times better). I then get a call from Peter TWO DAYS before the event is supposed to be catered. I explain the situation THREE times (he seems to not understand a word I'm saying) and tell him I'm disappointed in his lack of communication. He basically says, well I have your order here, I can fulfill it for you - which is impossible because the only thing I ever got was estimates. I start asking him questions about the order, like the address it should be delivered to, pizza toppings, desserts, etc., he can't tell me - CLEARLY because I didn't put an order in. He ends the call basically saying, "well I'm available so I won't be giving your money back." He was rude, no help whatsoever, and a LIAR trying to cover his own tracks, for example, he told me he's called several times trying to reach me yet my phone records don't show this at all - interesting. I would not recommend them to ANYONE, unless you'd like to deal with shit communication. SO thankful we changed our wedding venue seeing as they couldn't even handle catering a 60 person event. read more

Best pizza in town. Domenico's is one of the best pizza restaurants in the Rock County area. I'm a regular and enjoy their Extra Large Pizza special. The special comes with an extra large one topping pizza with a FREE small one topping pizza. Yours for only, $13.72! You cannot beat that deal. Definitely not for work travelers. By the time they figured out what I was saying from my (minimal) southern accent and found a functional pen to sign my $33.73 takeout order, I had nearly forgotten to ask them for eating utensils. As I signed my receipt I asked them for a set and the lady at the front said "oh we have to charge for those." Unbelievable. I actually considered making them give me a refund for the food I was so mad. I wonder if they charge people for Togo boxes when they can't finish their meal in their restaurant? I never found out how much they charge for a plastic fork and knife but I can only guess it isn't worth the business expense paperwork. Luckily for me my hotel was more than happy to oblige a set of plastic utensils so I could eat my dinner. Of the chicken parmesan, bruschetta, and gnocchi, the gnocchi was the only thing that I cared for but even that was overcooked. I see why they don't boil their penne in any salt because the tough parm chicken was so salty it was nearly inedible. They have poor policy and mediocre Italian food. I am sorry that I chose this place for my dinner tonight. I won't be back and I cannot recommend this place to anyone. read more

If it was possible to give this place less than one star I would have. This place was by far the worst Italian food I have ever had. The cheese sticks I had for an appetizers tasted like that came out of the grocery store freezer and were also very greasy. The main course I ordered a dish called Pasta Diablo, which was supposed to be spicy. Not only was the dish not spicy at all it was outright awful. It tasted like their head chef was Chef Boyardee which still somehow they managed to make worse. I am staying in a hotel for business travel and just ordered food for delivery from here. It arrived with no silverware or napkins. When I called to complain, I was informed that they charge extra for silverware. I used the online ordering system and it was never an option to add silverware. Ridiculous that you should be charged for something like that. read more

10 of us met there for lunch. We all had the Buffett. It was reasonable and delicious. Best potato soup I've ever had. Others said the broccoli soup was very good. They had pork and the best mashed potatoes, delicious. Nice variety. Great service. We will definitely go back. read more

This is a fantastic restaurant. The prices are low. The quality of the food is excellent. The quantity of food is good. The buffet is an incredible value. There are many choices, pizza, broiled fish, fried fish, pasta, soups and a solid salad bar. I have never had to wait more than a few minutes to be seated, even in busier times. read more

It's a great place to eat! The buffet it wonderful (esp. if you have kids); they always have pizza but change the "main" dish nightly. They have the BEST blue cheese dressing anywhere (and I eat out a lot)...The salad bar had a good variety to add to romaine lettuce. While our pizza was was not bad, the facility is outdated and filthy. The carpeting looks like it's at least 20 years old and has never been cleaned. There was two inches of dust on the window sills and plastic flowers. The best part was our server, Nathan. He was friendly, knowledgeable and professional. It's a shame he isn't working in a better place. We definitely won't go back unless it is overhauled! read more

We usually go to Domenico's after the the Holiday Parade, and we did again this year (group of about 15). The large dining room was very loud and our service was not good. Pizza was good as usual. I had ordered the Gnocchi, it was flavorless and I expected more from an Italian restaurant. Our server R.S. wasn't very prompt on taking orders or refilling drinks, and even twice (me once, and my son once) took the glass out of our hands as we were drinking for refills. At the beginning of the meal, we mentioned we wanted split bills, and the huff and puff we got from her that how dare we do that!!! Then when paying the bills, when she came to pick up we weren't all ready to pay, and she rolled her eyes and stomped off huffing and puffing again. We are good tippers, and all I can say is she is lucky is was auto-grat on the bills. We will not be returning. read more

Love domenicos. I order pizza delivery from here all the time and although it gets inconsistent at times, it is usually very good. They renovated the restaurant and last time I got stuck sitting in a big empty room. Food was fine though. If you are in the area and want italian, this is your go to spot. read more

Labor Day weekend we hosted a Rehearsal Dinner at Domenico's for about 75 guests. Nathan (mgr) and I worked on a menu that would cover all the guests needs and we were spot on! Nathan went out of his way to make sure we had everything we needed - from accepting the delivery and pick-up of rental chairs to working with my husband on a special order for some of the wine. Our appetizers were wonderful - bruschetta, stuffed mushroom (out of this world), Italian meatballs (another big hit) and shrimp cocktail. We served Chicken Marsala, Pasta Roma with and without shrimp and Pasta Bologense as the main course. They were all very nice size portions, which was appreciated by all of the men in the group! Desserts were Petit Fours, Mini Cannoli's and Mini Cheesecakes. The desserts were great but we put them out too late and guests didn't eat a lot. If there is anything that I would change it would be to have more than the two servers taking orders for drinks and found that with this many guests that was not enough and people were getting their own drinks. If you are looking for a restaurant in Beliot for a rehearsal dinner I would highly recommend Domenico's. I wish I could do 1/2 star because I would give them 4.5 stars. read more

We held a rehearsal dinner here recently with a large amount of people. The food was okay, not great, but the service left a lot to be desired. We had the private room, but did not have a server, so when someone needed a drink, they had to go to the bar in the other room to get it. Not a big deal, but that bar had one, and at sometimes two, bartenders who were making drinks for the entire restaurant. Needless to say, it took forever to even get a bottle of beer. Also, when asked for small plates for the cake, we were charged $.75 per plate since the cake was not from there. A little disappointed with that after the large sum of money we were already paying. Lastly, when someone went to take some leftovers home for a sick family member, we were told the leftovers could not be taken since it was a buffet. Everyone was done eating, so we definitely weren't asking for more food, just to bring home some of the food leftover since it was going to (I am assuming??) be thrown away anyways. Overall, sadly disappointed in Domenico's. read more

Just had a big family dinner at Domenico's. It has always been a go to restaurant for large gatherings - I have been going to Domenico's since I was a kid and the food has always been good. Well something has definately changed in the last year since I have last visited. We all ordered the buffet - what a mistake. The food choices were minimal - it really is a big salad bar with some soups and a few entrees like ribs and sausages with veggies - Food was not very good and disappointing especially for the price. The pizzas were literally put on a table away from the buffet with no heat light - so the pizza was cold!! I noticed also the decline in the building - the women's bathroom literally had tiles that had fallen off the wall and were still laying on the floor! My husband said the men's room was not much better. I gave it a two star vs one since the service was decent. It is sad as Domenico's has been a landmark in Beloit for decades - hope they can find their spark again. read more
