Delicious food and great atmosphere. The menu has all my favorites and the service couldn't have been better.

So a few weeks ago, I was reading reviews of a bunch of the top tavern" pizza places in Chicago. During one write up the reviewer says, well my best childhood pizza place in Capri in Rockford (Loves park). So I'm like, wow,going to be there in about ten days and need to check it out. So, went online and ordered a pizza. First off ordering they have like 20 different options, including (which I loved) no cut, cooked well and even cooked well done! So to me they want to make sure your pie is exactly the way it should be. They even have a tracker to tell you how long before your pie is ready. So I drive over to the restaurant and it's a really nice place, with outdoor dining that was in the shade. The pickup side is on the other side of the main entrance ( didn't know as my first time). Walk in and was promptly greeted and they asked the name and said oh a little while longer. After about 10-15 minutes and a few other carry outs, I ask about my pie. Apparently there were 3 orders all with the same first name as mine! So they finally figure mine out and I leave. My order was a 12" thin crust with sausage,well done with burrata salad and a cannoli. So, the pie is kinda thin with almost a cracker consistency on the ends. Not to a true thin Chgo tavern pie. The burrata was ok, as usually there is some romaine, but this was just burrata and basil with some balsamic drizzle. The cannoli was also just ok. The filling was very light tasting, didn't get a lot of ricotta, but did get the almond. So and overall Ok meal but not what I was expecting read more

First time having Capri Pizza, I was so excited I'm staying at the Hilton. It was delivered. I opened it to share with the employees it completely fell apart, The sausage is a big piece of gunk the Crust Was hard, not crusty as the manager tried telling me on the phone. He was arrogant and rude and told me I was get nowhere by saying bad things about their pizza. I told him I would think you would want to know, but obviously he didn't! he said if I got in my car and drove it back there I'd get a refund unfortunately the reason I ordered deliveries because I couldn't drive bad attitude bad Pizza.! First time in the new building and it's so beautiful! It's a great new take on this priceless gem of an Italian restaurant. The appetizers were phenomenal! The special salad delicious! The best part was my main meal and once it arrived I totally forgot to take a picture and just dove in. I had the pasta feast with Alfredo tortellini, the meat ravioli with sugo, and meatball. So so much scrumptious food and even writing this makes want to drool just thinking of it again. The staff was wonderful - go check this place out! read more

This area has an embarrassment of great Italian places on Riverside Road alone!! Naturally we had to try it just based on how packed the parking lot is! It did not disappoint... Cool vibe inside like you would expect it being new. Think new the Lino's vs the OG Lino's or Sam's... As cool as you can get and still make old people (like me) comfortable. The staff is very friendly and accommodating. Also, attentive if you need refills... Like I mentioned at the beginning, there is a lot of stiff competition here and Capri definitely rises to the occasion! Excellent salad! I loved the marinated olives! Not many places put those on their regular salads... Tons of great Italian beef in the area and this one holds its own!!! Great chicken Parm! The sauce can make or break it.... Here it makes it... Good pizza! The sauce again makes it! Most of the places around here have the toppings underneath, Capri included. I prefer the pepperoni on top so it can get a little bit of a char. I've had the pizza here a few times and it's tasty, but not my favorite (I'm more of a New York style person with lots of crust!). Their pasta is phenomenal, though. I have tried almost all of the pastas, and the lasagna is my favorite. However, my favorite on the menu is the chicken parmesan; it is legitimately the best chicken parm I have ever had! Last weekend was my first time trying it and I will never order anything else again! I didn't grow up in the area, but this is clearly a local favorite with a lot of family history and memories. read more

Third time there, Had a pizza the first time, lasagna the 2nd time, and a meatball calzone yesterday. all three times weren't very good. When comparing it to Linos, Salamone's, or Nunzio's I will not eat there again. The restaurant is very nice, the service is great, the food just isn't up to par. read more

Nice restaurant but they have changed their pizza dough!! It is not the same as when they were downtow. It's probably cheaper crust but it spoils the pizza;?they need to turn to their older crust .& sauce!!! They are ruining a once good thing!! read more

I have always loved Capri ... but have been disappointed with them the 2 times I ordered 2 large pizzas and a family special salad to go this month. I requested one of the pizzas to have onions, mushroom, and green peppers but they put green olives on it both times. I requested the salad dressing on the side for the salad and they got it right finally the second time. They aren't the same Capri. read more

I used to go to the location downtown until it burned down . The new location delivers one of the best pizza in town . If you order early the wait is not to long. I am looking forward to the seating restaurant which will open soon. Pricing is comparable to other places in town read more

It pains me to write this review but here goes. I grew up eating Capri pizza, it was the best. We finally found our way into the new Capri & was very excited to once again eat that magnificent pizza. The parking lot was ample, the restaurant interior was beautifully decorated & yet cozy. The waitress was present almost immediately & we ordered our pizza. It took the usual amount of cooking time. The pizza wasn't really cut, the topping was but not the crust. We tried cutting it with our knives, we COULDN'T! We tried repeatedly with the pizza server, we were discretely pushing with both hands, sawing, hacking & pulling, basically mauling our dinner. Once on the dinner plates, still couldn't cut up the pizza! We each manhandled it to our mouths. Biting into it was sooo difficult, we were actually worried about chipping a tooth or ruining dental work, I'm being totally serious, not joking. The bottom of the pizza wasn't burnt, it was just incredibly tough, We told the waitress who also couldn't cut it. She called a tall blonde lady over who said their crust is crispier than most, that's laughable. You can snap a crispy crust & also cut it with a knife. This crust was like concrete. The table beside us only ate their pizza topping, left the entire crust. Half of our food bill was reduced, we didn't ask for a discount but it was much appreciated. It would've been better to hear an I'm Sorry but instead she was insistent, defensive, giving multiple reasons why we might think it were too crispy. Again, not crispy...She said we should order carry out pizza so it has a chance to soggy up a little from the moisture. Ummm, I think we'll pass. read more

Short staffed. Nice place. Fake butter for bread. Lasagna was acceptable, but salty- no meat. Everybody else liked their food..

The Room was freezing cold and we had to keep our coats on. Ordered a Tom Collin's and it was awful. Watered down melted ice as it had been sitting. Took 25 minutes to get the drinks. Ordered Spaghetti Carbonara and it was terrible. Noodles were not cooked and the dish was full of onions. Ate 2 bites and couldn't eat it. Our waitress never asked if the food was ok as I clearly didn't touch it. Overall bad experience and won't go back. Had a gift card that was a present, so made it all the worse. read more

I absolutely love capri! I am so glad they reopened their establishment. Their new building is just gorgeous. It has a modern, cozy vibe. Perfect atmosphere for date night, family dinner, celebrations, or chilling with friends. The food of course is just as good as it was before. The wait staff are all so kind here. We made reservations to dine in at the new Capri location in Loves Park and ate there on 11/23. We heard the waitress ask another booth about drinks l, but there was no drink menu, and there there was not a lot of clear information about availability of drinks, so we just glass water (this is unique to there current setup I think). The area they have set up with just a few booths is nice and an opportunity to eat their food in a sit down setting. They look as though they can accommodate up to 8-10 people at their largest booth. We got the baked goat cheese appetizer which was good (I love goat cheese) but didn't come with a spoon for serving, please include that in the future. My husband had the Italian beef, he said it was serviceable, but didn't love that it was shredded/pulled. He wouldn't eat it again, it was kind of clumpy. I had the rigatoni burratini, which when it came I had to ask for the bread and was told I already got it (no that was the bread for the baked goat cheese, and I let her know that, and she remembered and brought out the bread that came with my pasta). My pasta was really good, of you love burrata, or a creamy tomato sauce, I highly recommend it. I live far enough way that takeout from Capri would be cold by the time I got it home, and I also don't do this type of takeout unless it's delivery (but again it's far for me, so it would be cold/no one would deliver) so this was the only way I would get to experience it unless I want to order carryout and eat it immediately in my car. The new Capri is outstanding. I enjoyed the special salad, tortellini and spaghetti. Since it's been many years since eating there, we had a pizza for an appetizer. Everything was excellent. For pick up, I ordered Baked Mostaccioli with meat sauce, Caesar salad (small), and a Cannoli. The Mostaccioli with meat sauce was very favorable, not spicy or hot, just the right temperament when it came to flavors. The ground beef in the sauce was sufficient and of the right size. A nice, modest-sized loaf of bread came with the meal. The small Caesar salad came with the usual Caesar ingredients, along with specialty Capri crostini and a creamy dressing. The Cannoli was tasty and fresh. The shell had the perfect crispness and was sprinkled with a hint of chocolate to enhance the presentation and flavor. Overall, it was a good value for both taste and portion size. Definitely worth the price. Capri deserves five stars, but have to give it four this time around. Once home, I discovered the ordered salad was missing and had to go back for it. The young Capri associate apologized for the inconvenience. My next order will be to test out their "Shrimp Dejonghe" pasta dinner. read more

Ordered a carry out pizza with cheese, sausage and mushrooms. The pizzas crust was so hard we couldn't chew it, the sauce or lack of sauce had no flavor, the mozzarella cheese was like rubber and the sausage was so salty that we could not eat the pizza and tossed the pizza in the garbage. I don't usually write reviews but I just thought I'd share what happened last night. Our server, Maryann, was great. She was working with a male bartender who I barely saw behind the bar while we were there. Our appetizer came out before we got our drinks, so that was a little dissatisfying. It's normally a different guy bartending on Saturdays when we've gone, and we've never had any issues. Our server was pretty much the only one making drinks, while trying to tend to the guests as well, so I get it. picked up a large special pizza last Wednesday night was looking forward to try a capri pizza first time since they opened it will be my last I must say it is probably one of the worst pizzas I've eaten for $32 there was no skill or craftsmanship and preparing this pizza big huge globs of Italian sausage wrapped on the pizza the size of breakfast sausage two spicy to eat no pepperoni and one spot half the pepperoni was in a different spot. It was like they opened up a can and just threw it on put it in the oven and served a mess just a junkie ass Pizza. I really thought they would've changed since they moved from downtown but it's still junkie ass. Pizza always has since the 70s maybe the rest of the food inside is better but I've certainly don't recommend a pizza. Whoever is watching over these guys make these pizzas need to be sent to Pizza school $32 a wasted money. Lino's is still the best pizza in Rockford and sometimes that's hit or miss they'll make a messy pizza also once in a while but it's acceptable Capri is not edible. read more

Service was terrible.. Totally messed our order up after a 45-minute wait. Asked for 1 par baked pizza and 1 for our meal. Only gave us 1 par baked pizza and that was the wrong one!!! The hostess, or whoever she was, came over an hour later and apologized and wanted to know if I wanted a salad!!!!!!! This is an hour after we arrived.. I'd give it a zero star but there isn't one....Waitress claimed she didn't hear me, she was standing right next to me!!!! Started to argue with me that I only ordered one pizza...We definitely won't be back there. There are many more options to dine at. We left there with a par baked pizza that was wrong but not charged, no dinner.. a glass of water and a salad, after one hour and fifteen minutes!!!!! read more

The food was wonderful. Great variety from which to choose. Our waitress, Natalia, was a ray of sunshine. She was friendly, bubbly and helpful. Such an infectious smile! Not the old Capri. Decor is very nice and upscale, but totally generic. Food is very good, employees are nice and attentive. But entrees now start around $21 which is too much for fast casual while the food can't compete with fine dining. We had a 40+ minute wait for a table, another 40+ for our food. If you miss the old Capri, I suggest using the separate carryout entrance... or wait a few months until the curiosity wears off, tables are plentiful, and coupons start appearing. Went here with the family. Four adults and a baby (3 months). Walked in and told them 5 including a baby, woman at the front said okay, looked at my baby in his carrier and led us to a table that sat four. Didn't get us a sling or a highchair and didn't offer. So that was a weird start. Waitress then came and saw my husband standing with the baby and didn't offer to get us a highchair but instead asked what we wanted to drink and if we wanted appetizers. We had to stop her and ask for something to put the baby on. Then, the food came. We got sausage and peppers. Menu said it was pan fried, nothing else. Sausage came, covered in marinara when we were thinking it was going to be in natural juices. Sausage was also very crumbly and fell apart as you took a bite when it should be firm. No one ate it, we told the waitress we didn't like it and to take it since our food was coming out. She did apologize while taking the food away. My husband got a pepperoni pizza. Said it tasted like absolutely nothing. My mother had the half chicken parm, half lasagne. Said the chicken parm tasted frozen. When the bill came, the sausage and peppers were still on it! My very first try of Capri will be the last. Ordered a large double sausage and pepperoni pizza. The sauce was rather flavorless and the crust was like trying to chew an old wallet, very tough and chewy. Not everything was bad. They are very generous with the toppings.
