SIG Skylights

I purchased a couple of skylights to replace the 25-year old ones on my house. Initial thought was…read morehow much better made they are than my original ones. The welding on the flange is good and the glass and glazing quality ( I got the grey) is fantastic. Also a good bit less expensive than what I'd priced at the local hardware stores. I installed them myself, but for the DIYer, they have a nice demo setup in their showroom you can use a guide. The biggest issue you're going to have is finding small quantities of the things you'll need (like the waterproof membrane). Well, that and removing shingles without damaging them. Luckily, my skylights were on a farily small, self contained section of my roof, so I just removed about half of those shingles and replaced them. That was harder than installing the skylights. From an installation standpoint, they are very easy to install. The biggest issue (for a single DIYer) is getting them on your roof and holding them in place while you put the sealer on the flange. Oh, and centering them. Especially if you get the glazing, it's really hard to see through them into your house, so you will either need someone you really trust to tell you, "Up, down, to the right juuust a bit more..." or get up and down off the roof several times.
