Long/short of it: Shuttle (bus itself) not set-up for large packs. We were a party of four with overnight packs. We booked shuttles to Schofield Trailhead and return to CB. For both trips, we had to wedge our packs into the aisles and side door space -- which was not at all safe nor convenient for other passengers in the event of an emergency. We were perplexed as to why shuttle service that caters to hikers did not have exterior rooftop storage or a basket on the back of the bus for larger packs...? Recommendations: 1) Buy an additional seat for your pack , or 2) do the car shuffle b/t CB and Aspen. It will be worth the $$$ especially on the return trip. read more

Recently used Dolly's for a drop off at Marion trailhead on crested butte side. Shuttle was spacious, on time and would definitely recommend shuttle versus driving yourself. Roads were extremely narrow, winding and uneven. Would definitely use again. Book early as it fills up during summer weekends. read more

Doll's Mountain service was a fantastic experience! Eric picked us up and waited so patiently for our group of 8, which is sometimes like herding cats! Girl's went grocery shopping and boys went elsewhere, easy drive up the road to Crested Butte, and he dropped us off at the front door of our lodge. On the way home Kate picked us up to take us back to the airport. Such a wonderful person to talk to and a wealth of knowledge, kinda felt like a tour guide, she was fabulous! Just said "Gunnison bus stop" and that meant bus stop in CB to Gunnison - not in Gunnison where our car was left. So had to ride another bus to Gunnison after a long day hiking. Our hiking group used Dolly's to take us to the West Maroon trailhead, then pick us up in Aspen Highlands after. They were SO easy to work with, so responsive with clear information that this became the easiest part in planning our trip. They picked us up a few minutes early at our hotel, drove us carefully on the steep parts to a crowded parking lot. I don't remember the name of our driver. On the way back from Aspen to Crested Butte, we had Mr Lamar (he's a teacher) who entertained us with stories and had a long discussion with one of our members all the way to "Keebler" Pass (it's Kebler) where we looked for elves and hoped for cookies. Scheduling our shuttle was a bit difficult but after some communication, we got it done! Suggestion: text the number on their site, rather than calling! We finished our hike from aspen to crested butte and our driver Eric was 15 minutes early! It was great that he was there when we finished. He dropped us off at a local pizza place downtown and gave us our drivers info for the trip back to aspen. Craig picked us up at the restaurant and quickly got us back to Aspen while entertaining us with history and so much information about the area. He was a great driver and incredibly pleasant. I'm not in the habit of reviewing airport shuttles but we had SUCH a great experience with Dolly's this week that I feel compelled to let others know. We were heading from Crested Butte to the Gunnison Airport. Kristen was super helpful during the coordination process and got back to me right away. Our shuttle arrived early on the day of our flight. Kate was driving and we had the good fortune to be joined by another driver, Craig, who was also headed to the airport. We had SO much fun with both of them - the conversation was fantastic and Kate pointed out wildlife (including a bald eagle) along the way. Great experience being picked up at the West Maroon trailhead and driving the 40 minutes to CB after hiking over from Aspen, and then 2 days later being picked up in CB and brought back to the trailhead to hike back. I booked well in advance with no issues, but I did hear some people on the trail say they had tried to book but everything was full, so once you know your dates I would recommend booking ASAP. The road between WMTH and CB is no joke (narrow, rutted, twisty dirt road), but our driver was extremely safe and I was relieved it was him driving and not me! Wouldn't hesitate to use again and would highly recommend! read more

Wow what a flexible and friendly service this was. Our first Driver was Kate, who offered to take us to the grocery, liquor store or anywhere we wanted to go on the way to CB Mountain. She waited and was very helpful pointing out wildlife on the way. We saw a bald eagle, elk and a coyote. Then on the way back I had to leave a day early. BUT, they showed up when they were supposed to and both drivers that we encountered were very nice. Laid back ? Yes. Craig was our driver and went above and beyond in taking care of us. My buddy and I hiked back to Maroon Bells via the East Maroon Pass trail. Craig did us a huge favor by dropping us off at the upper trail head. He saved us 40 minutes of up hill hiking. The end of the East Maroon Pass trail is located about 3 miles below the bus pick up at Maroon lake. We were faced with a 3 mile road hike after hiking 14 miles just to get to the road. Just as we were debating our next move we saw Dolly's Mountain Shuttle headed back towards Aspen......it was Craig! He picked us up and gave us a lift to Aspen Highlands where we parked our car. We hiked Aspen to Crested Butte and knew there were a few choices. One group of our friends chose another. We hiked over end of July and there was a mudslide on gothic road. Dolly had 2 vans running. 1 from the trailhead to the landslide. And another 2 our hotel. (shuttle 2 had beers waiting - after a 11 mile hike this is a big plus) The other you had walk 2 miles out. Our friends that chose the other walked out in a rainstorm and were picked up by Dolly and driven to their other shuttle's waiting point. No beers for them. Dolly is top notch...great friendly drivers and overall best shuttle customer service in CB. read more

I had messed up our booking and the staff fixed it for me without hassle and refunded the difference. I had booked 2 shuttle service trips in Crested Butte through Dolly's Mountain Shuttle for 6 people. Unfortunately we had to cancel and when I called and spoke with Jessie, he said I would be "charged a cancellation fee equal to 10% of my booking total" (which the website says very clearly too). A few days later I had to call Jessie again because I hadn't received email confirmation of the cancellation like he had said I would, and he reiterated that I would be charged a fee of 10%. When I finally got the email, I had been charged $38.40 (15% of my total) instead of $25.40 (10% of my total). When I brought this discrepancy to Jessie's attention, he said the charge included service fees and so far he isn't willing to abide by his word or the written word of his website. This has turned very negative very quickly and I won't use his service when I reschedule. read more

On May 1, 2017, I talked (by phone) to Jesse of Dolly's and scheduled a pick up from Purple Mountain B&B for 7 am on July 25, 2017 and another from Aspen Highlands around 4:30 pm. Jesse said that Dolly's could take my wife and me to the East Fork/West Maroon Trailhead for a hike we were planning to Aspen. Unbeknown to me, on Sunday, July 9th of all times, there was an avalanche that blocked the Gothic Road at least 2 miles away from the trailhead. We never received any notice of this problem from Jesse or anyone else at Dolly's. I discovered this problem when I made a pre-trip check on July 20, 2017, on the website for Travel Crested Butte. I then sent an email to Jesse asking if the avalanche still blocked the road to the trailhead and received this cryptic reply: "We still can't get to trailhead. Its adding about 2 miles to the hike. Jesse" I responded in effect that the trail was already plenty long at between 10 and 11 miles and even though we are hearty 70-year olds, two more miles over snow on the road was not an option. I asked him in an email if it looked like the road would be open anytime from the 25th to the 27th. After I saw a new report on Travel Crested Butte saying it would not be, I cancelled the pick up and requested a refund of my deposit of $160. Jesse never responded to either of these emails. After receiving no response I filed a credit card charge dispute with my credit card company. The next day I received an e-mail from Jesse stating that he issued a credit less $16.00 (10%). I sent an email in response stating "I would think that when you cannot provide the service we ordered, i.e., get us to the trailhead and the trail is closed, there would be no cancellation fee." His response was that the trail was not closed and he had been taking people up (evidently to 2 plus miles away from the trailhead) to hike for three weeks. Personally, that goes against my environmental ethics - hiking on a fragile muddy trail, but that's just me, and my wife. We volunteer for City of Boulder Open Space and Mountain Parks and have seen damage done by hikers to muddy trails-people generally hike around the mud. Anyway, back to topic. I then asked if he was now saying that he could get us to the trailhead rather than within what he considered striking distance. I also sent him a link to the site stating it was closed. Unsurprisingly, I got no response. In fairness to Dolly's their website states that there would be a 10% cancellation fee for cancellations of Crested Butte-Aspen pick ups made within 2 weeks. However, that assumes that Dolly's could deliver the service promised, not some "well-we-can-get-you-almost-there service". Now granted, $16 isn't much, but evidently it is to Dolly's. They can keep it. I wonder when Jesse intended to tell us that he really could not get us to the trailhead - in the van on the way? read more

Both pickups were within 10 mins of scheduled time, one a bit late and one a bit early. The big vans were a little jostly on those mountain roads for carsick prone kiddos, but that probably can't be helped. read more
