We had an absolute blast on our adventure with Crested Butte Motorsports. This, for us, was a must-do activity for anyone visiting the area. You'll get to see parts of CB you would otherwise never see and have an incredible time doing it. The equipment was great and we had no issues at all. Most importantly the route they sent us on was incredible. Getting to traverse the Pearl Pass and all of the beautiful mountain valleys was an experience we will never forget. If we have one criticism, it's a lack of information. They made a point to tell us that flat tires were the most likely cause for concern, but didn't really tell us what to do in the event of a flat tire. Cell signal is non-existent and you don't have any tools to change your own tire, so it's on you if you get stuck out there. Luckily, we had no issues and had a wonderful experience in the Crested Butte Backcountry. read more

We rented 2 snowmobiles from here and it was so much fun! The owner was super chill. It seems like a pretty low key business run by one guy but our experience was great. The ride through Kebler Pass was beautiful. The machines were really nice and worked great. Greg gave us some instructions and directions on a map and sent us on our way. I am writing to share my nightmare experience with this company over the last 48hrs, and warn others to STAY AWAY, or you will likely be blackmailed for your security deposit, conned, verbally berated, threatened, and challenged to fight...or even worse, left stuck and stranded out in the Crested Butte back country with your kids, with the owner knowing full well that you that you need help, and never sending rescue, not even waiting at the drop off point to make sure you make it out safely after getting stuck. All of these things happened to me with Greg Grossman, the owner of CB Motorsports. I will preface by saying that this is my 3rd time renting from this company in the past 5 years. I will also add that my complaint and the reason for my 1-star review has nothing to do with the quality of the ATVs nor the ride itself. The 4-seater Honda ATV we rented was in good condition, and the trails are beautiful and super fun. My reason has entirely to do with my personal experience with the dangerously negligent, verbally abusive, and hostile owner, and the insane experience i have had communicating with him over the last 2 days. 2 days ago, on July 20, i met Greg at the trailhead with my 2 kids, ages 10 and 12, to pick up the vehicle, sign the contract, go over the ATV, the route, etc. he told us to go 10miles up the intermediate trail, check the odometer, and turn around at that point or the trail will get more difficult. We went over the map briefly and he sent us on our way. Along the way we accidentally took a side trail called the East Brush trail, which is unmarked and is an easy mistake to make. That added roughly a mile to our trip, making the 10mile marker/turn-around point on the odometer inaccurate. So we got back on the correct trail, and about 10miles out (close to the recommended turn around point), we got stuck in a mud puddle. We had to abandon the ATV, jump out start walking back towards the trailhead, 10miles away (there is no cell service at all out there). Along the way, we were passed by both a mountain biker and a dirt biker and asked them to please find Greg from CB Motorsports at the trailhead, tell him we were stranded and to please send a recovery vehicle. We continued walking for about 1.5hrs or about 5 miles total. It was getting close to the 5pm return time, and we were surprised that we never saw a recovery vehicle from CB Motorsports. Finally we ran into a father & son in 2 jeeps, who loaded us up and drove us 5miles back up the trail to our ATV, wenched us out, we fired up the ATV and drove back 10 miles to the trailhead, and arrived at approximately 7pm, 2 hours after the designated drop-off time. To my surprise, along the way not only did we time. To my surprise, along the way not only did we not pass Greg or anyone from else from CB Motorsports with a recovery vehicle, but when we got to the trailhead Greg and his truck and trailer were nowhere to be seen!! He had left the site completely and left me, my kids, and his ATV out in the back country and didnt even bother to stick around to make sure we made it back safely. When I called him to tell him what we made it back safely, he proceeded to berate and insult me over the phone for not following his 10mile turn around point. He claimed to have loaded up a rescue vehicle but turned around when a biker told him we had taken care of it--which was not true at all. When we ran into the biker we were already on foot, several miles away from the stuck ATV. I call BS on his "rescue mission". For the next several hours he cussed me out via text, called me a pu#%y, a bi@$ch, and a "stupid f*#k". He gave me his address and challenged me to come "looking for him". I tried to disengage and just ask for my $1000 deposit back so i could go on with my vacation, but HE REFUSED to do so unless i posted a positive Google review! HE ACTUALLY TRIED TO BLACKMAIL me & is still holding my deposit unless i give him a positive review!! Fortunately, i have all his crazy texts and i will be posting the screenshots on all review sites that will allow me to do so. AVOID THIS NIGHTMARE COMPANY AT ALL COSTS!!!! read more

Cb Motorsports is a great place to rent from. Greg was very helpful and accommodating. We needed 3 extra snowmobiles on very short notice and Greg said it wouldn't be a problem. He met us with the equipment and explained the trails in detail as well as providing us with maps of the trails. Helmets and goggles were available if you didn't have your own. This was a perfect family outing! My mom and I rented a two-seater side by side and explored the Brush Creek area, including the path to Pearl Pass and Teocalli Mountain. Both were gorgeous and ideal for a 4x4. Greg was very professional and set us up on short notice. On our way to Pearl Pass we had a flat; within 30 minutes Greg was there for us with a new tire. That allowed us to spend the rest of our time touring a new trail that was even more fun than the first. Highly recommended! read more

Do not use this guy. Called and cancelled 24hrs in advanced, and Greg said they have a 2-week cancellation policy even there was never anything in writing and was simply booked over the phone. He then charged my credit card over twice what he had quoted me. Had to go through the process of disputing the charge, etc., and luckily they credited my account. There are similar reviews on other sites, so obviously he does this type of thing regularly. read more

We rented 4 snowmobiles on our Christmas week and had a great time. Greg is a great guy and easy to work with over the phone. While most of the other rental places send you out in a tour with a guide and have you meet at their retail location (so you spend a lot of your rental time being driven out to the trailhead), Greg has the machines ready to go out at the trailhead so you can ride every minute you've paid for. He encouraged us to get their 15min ahead of time to make sure of it (we didn't--were a little late due to a little challenge getting up the road to the pass--leave enough time). The machines were in good order and, with Greg's orientation on the map, we were able to head out for a beautiful ride in the mountains. Rented them for 3 hrs which seemed just about right. As Greg instructed, if you stay on the trails, it's very safe and pretty hard to get stuck. Along the way, there's clearly places where you can go off the path and have some fun--but don't get into untracked powder unless you really know what's there and what you're doing. We had to dig one out a bit and with the cold and the altitude, it's really exhausting. So fun--We'd do it again and rent from Greg in a second. Thanks for a memorable day! read more

CB Motorsports is by far the most unprofessional, money-hungry business I have come across. Greg Grossman (the owner) and his team are far more concerned with ripping you off, as opposed to making sure the customer is safe, taken care of, and satisfied. Furthermore, Mr. Grossman is childish and unwilling to cooperate with his customers, regardless of the situation. In my experience with him, I had done some damage to one of his ATVs - which I had every intention of paying for - and Mr. Grossman could not wait to bring up getting lawyers involved, and taking the whole matter to court. All despite the fact that I had spent the night in the hospital due to head injuries, and was in no condition to attempt to negotiate a payment plan for the damages done. Also, I admittedly have damaged ATVs before, and I know the approximate value of the damage done. Needless to say, Mr. Grossman severely overcharged us for some minor damages. Overall, my experience with CB Motorsports was nothing but negative and frustrating (to say the least). I strongly suggest that anyone looking to rent ATVs or snowmobiles look elsewhere, unless you want to deal with and unprofessional, crooked, soulless man. read more

This was my first experience with renting ATV's and I wasn't sure what to expect, but after my experience with this establishment I wish I had done more research. The rental itself was easy enough, minimal requirements at a reasonable price, it was made known that we would be liable for the machines and it was in our best interest "not to roll". We thought that would be obvious, however, there was more to that statement then we realized. There was also an off color comment about Texans that didn't apply to us, but felt a little prejudice. Anyhow, four hours into our five hour time limit my girlfriend, a local to the area and long time rider had a fainting spell, due to high altitudes and heat exhaustion and lost control. This was a true accident, no one was at fault. She seemed OK at the time, so, being a mechanic for ten years I surveyed the damage and figured it would be at least a few hundred dollars given the damage to one of the front end wheel assemblies. Plus I knew that a place like this would be insured. As it turns out, my girlfriend was hurt worse than we had originally thought. The ATV was recovered and we made our way to the hospital, that night while my girlfriend was getting x-rays on her brain and was incapable of negotiating payment, Greg Grossman charged $1000.00 to her card before he even had an estimate on the damage done. When I contacted him to let him know that we were willing to work with him on payment but could not pay "his estimate" of $2700.00 in full, he immediately threatened us with lawyers. Because of his lack of interest in helping us with our circumstance, we found a way to pay him, in full, with another account, but have yet to see the refund for the thousand he already charged us on the other account, even though he has told us he has already done so. And, we asked for an itemized list of the parts we were being charged for, which we are yet to receive so we can't verify prices. This man has not only been covered by his insurance, but also grossly overcharged us for parts and "services" and snaked a thousand dollars extra from a women laid out in a hospital. I had a great experience with renting a ATV from CB Motorsports. Contacted Greg a week before the trip the Created Butte to reserve the ATV's, and when we arrived he had them out and ready to go. We signed the usual paperwork, and then he spent time finding us helmets and showing us how to load and unload the ATV's on the trailer which he hooked up to our vehicle. He took time to show everyone how the ATV's work and even suggested a route for us to take since we had beginners in the group. Everything worked out great, had a great experience, and would definitely go with CB Motorsports again if I'm in the Crested Butte area again.... read more

My nephew and I rented 2 snowmobile's on April 2, 2016 from CB Motorsports via a telephone call. Greg Grossman, the owner met us at the Kebler Pass trail head where we signed the rental agreement. We checked the inspection box but overlooked doing the actual physical inspection of the two machines. Upon returning 4 hours later, Greg informed us of a $92.38 charge for damage to the front bumper. I showed him a picture on the bent bumper at out first stop which was about 15 minutes into the ride. We had barely got off the main trail at that point. The charge showed up on my credit card the next week. I disputed the charge with my credit card company and filed a report with the CB Police Dept. About 30 days later my credit card company refunded the $92.38. My advice when renting from CB Motorsports, make sure to perform a pre-rental inspection with photos of existing damage. BTW, this is the same company that I had arranged a snowmobile rental in 2014.....there was a blizzard (whiteout) that day and we had to pay $50 for each machine for canceling our agreement. Everything on their website is a lie. No free delivery of any atv. Theyll charge u a lot of money just drop it off and charge the same amount to pick it up. Its based of of how far they have to drop it off from their shop. This was the biggest problem for us because he told us to be at one spot and he showed up to another. He then took off cuz he said we never showed up, but it was grey who showed up to another area where we then had to go pick up the atv later on that day causing us a whole day worth of rental. No free trailer, cant use trailer unless u have it insured from your own insurance Theyll charge u for a whole day even though u have to return it before noon and they'll definitely drop it off after noon aswell so u will definitely be paying for 2 extra days when it should be 2 half days Best part is that Grey himself will tell u that you are getting a great deal! read more

Rented 3 snowmobiles, two doubles and a single. Price was great, had a blast. Even though someone dinged up one of the sleds, no one would fess up. Greg was very courteous, gave us estimated repair cost very quickly. $300 repair. Lesson learned. Overall good experience. The family can't wait to go again. read more
