THE GOODS There are other dollar stores nearby (e.g. 5 and Cambie, Lansdowne, etc.) but this one is the winnah partly because of the selection: the store looks small on the outside next to PetSmart but it's large or deep on the inside. From housewares, to toys, to electronics, even to fresh breads and other groceries, there's likely something for you, especially as inflation and recession hit us post-pandemic. They do a pretty good job of bringing in seasonal (e.g. Halloween and now Christmas) items, and it's definitely our go-to place for greeting cards and gift wrap/bags. === 3. SERVICE Every time we've visited, we've had courteous service in the aisles when needing help and at check out: better than the competition. === 4. ENVIRONMENT It's big and brightly-lit and relatively clean. It does get very busy though (for good reason), but that means baby strollers and wheelchairs may be squeezed in the aisles. I'm always a sucker for dollar stores. Sometimes when you don't feel like paying $5 for something that costs 50c, this is the place to be. Parking is not a problem here, as there is a huge lot. The store itself is pretty crowded, as the aisles are a bit on the narrow side. But I guess they had to do that to fit in 1 more aisle. You have everything from cards to balloons to electronics ($2 HDMI cables ftw!) and pet supplies. I could feel the clouds parting and a rainbow appearing. The location is quite convenient if you want to hop over the bridge, so I'm sure I'll be back. read more

Dollarama-bama-wama good! This is my most favourite and go-to dollar (and up) store. Although getting to this store may be a trek, especially if it's during rush-hour, it's still worth it! This place literally has everything you can imagine. I stroll through each and every aisle everything I check-in here because no matter how hard I try to see everything, I always find a new $1 treasure. Here's a snap shot of the aisles (from what i can remember): Aisle one: All party needs (balloons, plates, pink cutlery, money napkins, party favours and more) cards, gift bags and kids toys. Aisle two: Stationary (stickers, glitter glue, tape, ribbon, paint, poster boards, paint boards, etc...) books, calendars, notepads, office supplies, candles, and present boxes. Aisle three: Girls accessories (hair feathers, bow clips, elastics, hair bands, etc.), socks, underwear, tights, mittens, beauty care items (nail polish remover, face creams, make-up, wipes, shampoo, lotion, etc.), and baby supplies. Aisle four: FOOD! All types of chips, pasta, mac and cheese, dried noodles, ketchup, sauces, preserved stuff, cereal, marshmallows, drinks, pop, candies and chocolates. Aisle five: Seasonal stuff (depending on the holiday ie: Christmas, valentines, halloween, etc), iPhone cases, coin rollers, all types of car stuff, tools, lights, household mechanic stuff, photo frames, polaroid film, and fake plants. okie here is where it gets fuzzy... Aisle six and seven: ALL Household stuff (cleaners, sponges, mops, gloves, detergent, cups, plates, cutlery, soap, plungers, etc...) Fake plants. If you feel overwhelmed by my list, then you have no chance of staying calm once you're in there. Just breathe and soak in the dollar goodness. Most of their items are of good quality for their price - always check the tag to see if it's more than a dollar! Finally a major win when I wanted to find batteries for my Nikon Fe - I found round 1.5V batteries (5 for $1) and $1 Canuck face towels (looked legit)! Enjoy dollar bargin hunters. I rarely to go to dollar shop coz I found most of the items are not durable and useful. I prefer to go to Diaso or somewhere else. It's suprised me that so orgainzed and a thousand items there. I came to buy a sink strainer and stainless steel scubber coz it's much cheaper than Diaso. If I have time to check out more items, I might find more.... read more

This is your run-of-the-mill dollar store experience. Good products for a fair price. Located in the Richmond area, just off of Bridgeport road. Very easy to find and a GREAT place to pick up all the knick-knacks you might be craving. Very similar to the dollar stores you might find in the States (Big Lots, Dollar Tree, etc.) Large store with a WIDE variety of products including cosmetics, DVDs, electronic accessories, snacks, food products and, surprisingly, even some souvenirs. The only downfall is that they only accepted debit card or cash. I guess that is one way to keep the prices down. read more

I love dollar (and up) stores. They always have neat stuff to find and it's difficult to resist given the price. Of all the dollar stores, Dollarama is my favourite. They have the most selection and are always a reliable source of discount craft supplies, wrapping paper, cards, assorted stationery, and of course, candy. Another plus is that they accept Interac which is something most dollar stores do not do. I was very happy to hear that a new Dollarama had opened up in Richmond. This store is very well organized and the staff is helpful. I found what I was looking for quickly and easily. I haven't been able to check out the whole store yet, but you can bet that I'll be back soon. read more

Only place in the area to pick up necessities if you are a traveler. Their stock is plentiful and they have things many other Dollar stores do not. Unfortunately, they do not know how to process American debit cards. This is extremely disappointing and unfortunate as many foreign airlines crews stay in the neighboring hotels. I was annoyed after I had a ton of things in my basket and waited in an extremely long line only to wait longer for a manager to tell me my Chase debit card doesn't work on their system. I was told this with no apologies or suggestions other than "do you have cash?" I wouldn't be swiping if I had that. Duh. They could have at least offered to hold my items and told me where I could find the nearest ATM. So, back in the cold and rain I went without the slightest bit of compassion from the workers. I would have given them zero stars because it's also extremely warm inside, the kind of warm that makes you feel ill because you're bundled up in your winter gear. The reason for two stars is because of the quality of merchandise and how well-stocked and organized it was. I never was able to find a nearby convenience store to get what I needed. I would have rather have gone to a drugstore than here as not every item is truly a dollar anyway. It's a dollar and up depending on what you buy. FYI, there's also a creepy guy with a tear drop gang tattoo that lurks in their parking lot, so be careful out there, ladies! Just because it's Canada, doesn't mean it's 100 percent safe. read more

I happened to be here mistakenly on their opening night. It was pretty busy and the shelves were packed with all kinds of er,,, junk,, er dollareque items waiting to be purchased by do-gooder thrifty buyers like my er... friend here. Ummmm it wasn't so much me that wanted to shop there, it was ....her. She ummm loves bargains. We, umm she found some great Dollarama deals like Palmolive dish soap, plastic containers, juices, spice containers for the kitchen and so on. It's a big store and there's lots to find, especially for those little gift neccessities like colourful paper bags and gift wrap and invisible tape. I came here looking for random stuff and I found some awesome deals!! Usually this is the place i go to for party decors with paper plates and balloons etc. The store is huge and does offer a variety of products, some of which is of actual quality. If you are lucky, you will find products such as cosmetics which usually cost 5-10$ for a fraction of the price here. Staff are usually helpful. There may be lineup at cashiers when it gets busy. They only take debit or cash, no credit cards accepted!! Parking available. read more

Great location. Very friendly cashiers. I love that they maintain their sweet dispositions even when long lines. It's also one of the few places to find large print puzzles, which I appreciate, as someone who cares for a senior they can be hard to find or expensive. Only frustration is the boxes all over as they're reloading stock. At busy times it can be a pain just moving around the store, or standing still to look at something while others are trying to get around you. Other than that, this is a great location. Especially because of staff. Other Dollaramas (Harbour Centre, Lougheed Mall, Central City) are not as friendly. read more

You can find great stuff here for sure. However, super terrible customer service. Absolutely terrible. The cashiers have lots of attitude. I came in and saw a box of Twix candy that had a sticker saying $0.82 on the box. Keep in mind, this sticker is on the box. So I pick up the box thinking it's a great deal! I go to the cashier, and she takes a blade to open the box. Here- I'm thinking to myself why she's opening the box. I asked her why she opened the box, and if people steal the candy. She did not explain to me why she's opening the box, before she opens it. When I asked her, she says to me, "I'm counting the candy". I ask her why, and she says "It's $0.82 each". I look over at the total, before the transaction was even paid, and it comes to a total of over $20. Yeah- I'm not paying over $20 for a small box of Twix candy. I can get myself a better deal at Costco, or buy higher quality candy somewhere else. So I say to her politely I don't want it, I thought the whole box was $0.82 because the sticker was on the box. It was not clear to me that each candy was $0.82. She starts huffing and puffing, giving all this attitude. What really pissed me off was when she says "ALL OUR CUSTOMERS KNOW THIS. They know they are $0.82 each." Excuse me? I'm one of your customers now. I asked her why she's giving attitude, and if she talks to all her customers like that. I'm not the type of person to get upset, but I'm thinking to myself why this B-word is giving me all this attitude instead of processing the return like she's supposed to. I've worked in customer service before when I was much younger- and not once did I ever give the customer grief even if there was a misunderstanding. I'm very surprised that the workers here are so rude to their customers. This was a simple misunderstanding since the label was misleading, and she's taking out her attitude on me. I've been this location a few times, therefore, there is a reason I keep coming back. When seeing my friends in Richmond we always stop here as one of us always has to get things anyway. I find that the rotation of items to be more frequent even the location. Large isles. It's always busy with a demographic that has issues walking, therefore, this is always fun (please note sarcasm). If you have patience and aren't in a rush, this one is a good location or hold out to a more efficient location. Like the other branches they never have all the til's open even during their "peak." To address Mary C's concern, this location as well as the other's isn't really equipped to process American debits as there is a difference between the two. A lot of people who come from the airport have had this issue but it's not really an issue considering that only 1/2 of the retails in the city process American debit to begin with, therefore, this isn't even considered an issue. I have the same when crossing the border. The reason why it gets a 3 is 'cause of the customer service. read more

Called this morning prior to visiting the store to see if they sell balloons filled with helium. The man I spoke with said yes and that they could arrange a bouquet for me. When I arrived a couple hours later I spoke with another manager and she brought me to the back room to speak with the man I spoke with. He hid behind his desk only to tell her that he can only sell the deflating Spider-Man balloons they had on display. Very frustrating situation. Only gave 2 stars because I bought cutlery and napkins for cheap. read more
