I get the impression it's because they're not use to seeing females that are not covered. I don't like the silent harassment I receive there. I feel as if I have to avoid eye contact with all the arab men, and just stare at the ground. I never feel good when I go there. I wouldn't shed a tear if this place burned down. I've been to other middle eastern grocery stores before, none of their middle eastern male workers behave this way. I feel like I'm in the ghetto everytime I go, so I'm very happy my dad finally took them out of our usual routine. Sometimes I see non middle eastern employees there, who act normally and just do their job. Even the middle eastern females are polite. White, black, yellow guys.. all normal, but for some reason, all of their middle eastern employees are freaks. I don't know why they never got use to seeing women uncovered. How long is this going to take them? Because I think they should feel very lucky that I'm not a serial killer lol.

The Long Version: I love discount stores and dollar stores, so I had to pop into Magi-Prix during my latest trip to Laval. It has a dollar store feel, but items are more than a dollar (although even stores that call themselves dollar stores these days rarely have anything that's only a dollar anymore. Most things are more than a dollar). They have furniture and I actually saw a few cool pieces, but nothing that I really needed. I was most impressed by their food section. They had lots of imported goods. They had teas from Germany, cookies from France and chips from France too. I ended up buying 2 boxes of tea from Sri Lanka. One was a green tea with soursop and banana flavours. I've never seen this flavour combination and admittedly it sounds strange, but more the reason to get it, right? Lol. The other was a black tea with ginger. It's rare to find a black tea with just ginger flavour. Many add lemon and honey. And some add lemongrass and/or licorice. So I was thrilled to find a plain tea and ginger. I was eyeing the Brets chips. They were $4.50 each, and had lots of unusual flavours, but I didn't find a flavour I had to try. I mentioned I JUST had my shocks done and I can do without your warranty as I know it's just a money grab, per usual. 1) I show up and they made an error with my appointment 2) They come up with excuses to charge me for things that are NOT necessary etc.... The money grab makes me sick. I grew up around mechanics and have many mechanic friends, this is wrong on so many levels. Can't help but think they pull this crap with women much more. When I called them out for extra charges, the people in line were agreeing with me that this was pure nonsense and simply a money grab. 0 stars! Made me give 1. But they don't deserve the 1 star.

The worst rib steaks I ever bought. I tried to return the rest on July 29. ( I rarely return anything) The CSR refused the return citing first a 7 day return policy and then changing that to a 3 day return policy on meat etc. My understanding from their printed (French only) sheet pinned on the wall, was that acceptance of the return was discretionary. There is very poor customer service at this store and the quality of their beef is extremely low.

It is the ideal place to stock up on basics, like 100% cotton t shirts, dress shirts or pants. Even their loungewear like sweatpants or hoodies are great quality. I would describe the style as minimal and elegant. Some of the styles are very plain, they are usually all solid pieces and colors. Not too many prints or flashy logos. They often collaborate with designers and have unique printed tshirts though, every season they will launch a new collection. This store is spacious and spread over 2 floors. Women's clothes are on the bottom and men's and children on top. The feel is very modern, open and clean. Lots of dressing rooms and no lines to pay - there are very high tech self serve checkout machines that use RFID technology. All clothing tags have a microchip so you can place all your clothes in the bin and it automatically identifies the items - no need to scan them one at a time. Very cool! I have not seen this in other stores yet. Price point - items are usually $20 up. I find the tshirts to be the best deal in terms of quality and thickness for that price. They withstand washes well. Many other items are overpriced in my opinion, like underwear, shorts or tank tops. Not sure why a cotton t shirt for example is $20 but small cotton shorts can be upwards of $50... They often have sales, I recommend checking out the website or downloading their app beforehand if you want to browse. The site is well designed and they offer a promotional discount coupon upon signup. I personally find sizing to be small - these are designed more for the asian build. I am a tall female and usually wear size small or medium. I had to size up to a large in some styles and the pants are often too short unfortunately for my height. Note that if you order online, Uniqlo does not offer free returns in store - you have to mail items in, which is quite inconvenient. They also charge close to $10 as a return fee. So strongly suggest coming to a store in person and just buying what you need on the spot to save this hassle.
