TL;DR: They will do good work, overcharge you, recommend work long before it's due, and discriminate against you if you're Anglo or coloured.

Apparently, this is a smaller location compared to their big warehouse in Lachine. Nevertheless, so impressive! If I lived in Montreal, would be checking out what they have regularly, as they cycle through whatever becomes available. With some nice mid-century items, what impressed at this EcoDépôt Montréal me was a real leather, reclining La-z-boy-type Love Seat, that was on sale at 50% off... making it $85 Canadian. Wow! Amazing! While one of the head rest had a small issue propping up the head rest vertically, (if that's your thing,) the biggest issue preventing it from flying out the door was its weight. Would have considered taking it back with me to New York, but alas prohibitive transportation costs (and potentially tariff issues) nixed the thought. EcoDépôt Montréal also has a website to check out what available with shipping. Why buy new stuff at Ikea when you can get some truly interesting well designed, used pieces here!

When I brought it back for returning, I waited 30 minutes before somebody, who wasn't even the manager, slithered over, claiming I had broken the TV myself ( i.e, a fraud accusation ). This woman, one of the aggressive, uncouth types many stores hired after covid started, refused a refund, finally admitting later she was not qualified to make it anyway. The manager eventually undertook a refund, after more online complaints. My suggestion? Do not buy any electronic equipment from this store. Otherwise, we are taking as good faith the notion that they would not intentionally sell what they know beforehand to be defective goods. And which they will attempt to refuse a refund. In this day and age, nobody can afford to be that naive.

Our neighbourhood fruit and vegetable store is a delight! They have a wide variety of most fruits…read moreand vegetables (and some other groceries) at reasonable if not ridiculously cheap prices. They usually have a few super bargains in their front window (today (mid January) they have grapefruit 4/$1 and mangoes 2/$1) and their $.99 baskets of reduced produce are a bounty. The rest of their offerings are reasonably priced, competing well with the other stores. Care must be taken to ensure things are in good shape and aren't too ripe, but they have been happy to take back things that turned out to be bad (the avocados). They had good fresh sweet corn last summer at a good price well before it was in the supermarkets, and had it on into September long after it disappeared at the other stores. The price was so good that our visitors from the country bought a couple dozen to take back home with them. The staff is friendly and bilingual. I'm lucky to live so close because I am regularly carrying away bags heavy with fruits and vegetables

There's two levels, and the main street level has the lion's share of clothing and shoes. Vans, Converse, DM's, trendy flip-flops... My kid is a sneaker fanatic and we couldn't tear her away from this store. We loved how all the differently designed sneaks were suspended from the ceiling. Like, hundreds! Yes, shoes and sneakers are a definite draw here, but there seems to be so much more hidden around every corner. And the store is deep, and there's a downstairs which has a gazillion different backpacks here. I'm not exaggerating. A gazillion. What a fun store! Very unique and funky. And the staff here were super friendly, too. Bonus! This was my kid's favorite store in all of Montreal and, if truth be known, we loved it too.

Additionally, having the two sections probably makes gift shopping (for your fave Kitsch lover) a dream. When I visited this weekend there was a big labour day sale- I spotted beautiful vintage Pyrex bowls for prices like $25. Obviously you could probably snag these kinds of things for cheaper if you combed through a Village des Valeurs, by why bother if these guys are going to dig up the good stuff? I most definitely will be back!
