This is purely based on customer service here. The workers that are ringing up people are just so plain rude! They start talking in Spanish about some random customer I don't know and basically just talking sh**. Please excuse the language. I was here with my mom and sister just trying to get some basic party decor and we had a cart full of stuff. So once at the register I told my mom to put the cart away since I got a bag and my mom was taking the cart outside since the inside didn't have a designated area to put the cart. Outside however had a place to put your cart and one of the girls didn't realize I was with them and started talking sh** about how there wasn't even anything in the cart and why was "she" referring to my mom taking the cart outside..... don't you have better stuff to do?! Never ever returning here again or any other dollar store. Rather go to party city or something. I rather spend more money and receive better customer service. I'm livid. I am a Dollar Tree addict,lol. I've never been 5o this Location, but since ALL the other Dollar tree stores have been deciding they are gonna close early(whenever they want to even they store hours are clearly listed online and on doors, I went to the Union City store on decoto, who actually was open when they were supposed to be. It's a great Dollar tree plus what made it more enjoyable was that the employees (3woman),were so nice,funny n helpful, which is unheard of at Dollar tree stores. I don't think I've ever been to a dollar store that 1) isn't ghetto, 2) doesn't smell funky, and 3) isn't understaffed. I don't come here expecting the aisles to be clear, the shelves to be organized, the line to be short, etc. That being said, here are just some of the reasons I come here: * 100-count SCENTED diaper disposal bags * kitchen drawstring garbage bags * some spices, like cinnamon (which can be super expensive) * children's board books * party favors and supplies * 50cent greeting cards (you know how pricey cards are these days?) * other tsotkes I never knew I needed. Sometimes when I'm in need of something, I often overlook dollar stores as a legit option. Storage containers, kitchen nik-nacs, cleaning equipments can be found and all for a buck, so replacing such cheapish items aren't as painful. I unexpectedly found this place useful about a week ago, when I was hosting a family picnic. Instead of paper plates, I ended up finding these cool mini-baskets. I lined them with sandwich paper and everybody got their own basket. And I will be able to re-use them someday, so plus for that! Wow I didn't know there was a generic brand for Orange Glo... or Lay's potato chips... or powerade, no wait that's real. Pretty much everything in here is $1.00 and they have a really broad selection of things that families would really appreciate. Cards, tons of party favors and decor for graduation, birthdays, and even weddings. Inflated balloons here too. On top of that there are the dried food items, cleaners, paper items like towels, toilet paper, and facial tissues. Baskets. School supplies, random coloring and drawing books to get hyper kids to slow down in the middle of summer. I can see how this could be a really cost-saving stop for a family. I honestly only come here to buy cards, balloons, and party supplies (holiday items). They have a pretty good variety of these items for a cheap price and some of their items aren't even ghetto. Love this place! I bought tons of nostalgic DVDs, mostly cartoons, & all for a $1 each! I buy my nephew little toys here & coloring books since its so convenient & cheap to buy. ;D Another thing I like about this place is that I can get hair accessories (i.e. bobby pins) for, yes, $1.. aaaand, if you need some quick gift wrapping accessories come here. You can get all you need plus more without having to spend too much. They have a pretty good gift bag selection. There are some real special finds too.. so you have to grab them while you can! :) The reason why I give it 3 stars is 'cos the lines can get quick long & lengthy since they're understaffed sometimes. I WAS SOOOOO Irritated I stood in the LONGEST line for one of the 2 cashiers to get ballons made for a customer. When I asked for the manager to come out so I could complain he refused to open another register instead he went and helped with ballons and then opened another line and took the lady behind me ... and I was next in line I WAS SOOOO irritated. There is a male cashier here with long blonde hair. He doesn't appear to be lucid and I almost got in a confusing confrontation with him, that was so stupid I can't even remember what happened. But I walked out of there vowing never to return. He was confused because the person before me left an item on the belt that actually, he wasn't paying attention enough to ring up, then thought it was mine, and when I tried to explain it didn't belong to me, that I had tried to tell him he was forgetting to ring up the item, he started doing weird stuff like playing dumb, "What? What do you mean? This isn't yours? What? Is this yours? Who's was it?" Admittedly, I was getting irritated because he was SO condescending to me as I was trying to explain that he wasn't paying attention so that item was the person's before me. Dear dollar store: Please hire more cashiers and fire the immature one with a snobby attitude. Actually, they all have attitudes. But the young new girl has the worst one - and doesn't know how to dress. I've had two unpleasant encounters with her. I no longer want to frequent this store just to avoid running into her. How did someone without any manners get hired in the first place??? Sadly, I've noticed that everyone working here seems gloomy and stressed out. The lines are always long and store is usually in disarray and crowded. There should be more than one register open but there never is! It takes so long to checkout and the cashiers are not friendly. Came to the store to get some balloons because it was a dollar no one can beat that. When I entered the manager as she stand by the entrance she was mad because someone didn't show up for their shift and was complaining she was tired. I didn't really care. So I went to where they have the balloons and was looking. I looked at some drawers because some where not pumped. So I looked. Then the manager she came up and told me "sir do not touch that you're not suppose to be touching any of those." In my shocked, I replied oh I'm sorry I didn't know." She replied, "well I'm telling you now so what did you need?" I replied, "I didn't know and why are you being rude?" She told me "well sir I'm not being rude. You're suppose to tell the cashiers for help and you can look up there." First of all if you want no one touching any of those where customers can easily touch. Please write employees only or write ask for assistance. Secondly, you don't have to blabber if someone doesn't show up and you're just standing there talking to other employees about it. Dollar Tree stores are a total gem for gift giving and party planning. For gift giving they have decent selection of wrapping paper but the best ones are the kraft or butcher paper style paper. Clear bags for gift baskets or even roll of clear wrap as well. Lots and lots of fabric ribbon to add that homey touch. Gift boxes are nice too with great color and sturdy weight. Anyway, I like to come here when I'm waiting to be picked up after I get off Bart. It's just across the street at the really big plaza, so it's location is very convenient for people like me who need to kill time. Also, unlike many other dollar kind of stores, this place was fairly well kept and full of a great variety of things. Seriously, if you ever need anything, come here. I can almost assure you that you'll find what you need. I like coming here to buy little things that I can add to a gift that I'm already giving, whether it be a nice ribbon, some kind of accessory, etc. It's so much cheaper to come here than to drive all the way to Walmart. Another thing that I like to get here are random snacks for work. I work very close to a Walgreens, but if I were to seriously shop at Walgreens and stock up my snack cabinet, I can't even imagine how much money I'd be spending monthly. Here at Dollar Tree, I can spend $10 and get snacks to last me for the month! The section of the store that is more towards seasonal items is another favorite of mine. My boss and I were just raving about this place for like 45 minutes.. So I figured, hey.. why not rave about it on here! DUH. I tend to wander around this place on my lunch break.. Mostly because if I allot myself more time, I'll probably spend my entire paycheck here. This is THE spot to hit up for almost anything you may possibly need.. I am constantly here buying things for Parties: plastic cutlery, plates, table cloths, decorations (streamers/balloons), gift bags galore, greeting cards, wrapping paper, tissue paper, plastic champagne glasses. Arts and crafts: papers, stickers, ribbons, tape, glue, scissors, lots of candles, and picture frames Food: they have BUGLES here! YUM. And Fluffy Stuff cotton candy. Double YUM. Home: sponges, soap, toothpaste, floss, lotion, Tylenol, tissue, napkins, plates, cups, kitchen utensils, baking utensils, pet stuff, and storage stuff. I can go on forever. The place itself is pretty organized, considering. The staff is nice and friendly, although sometimes the lines take a little longer than you'd like.. and then you end up eying something and shoving that in your basket too. There are a few.. questionable customers here and there.. but its not a surprise, seeing where its located. Great idea for white elephant gift: whatever you min or max is, buy that amount of things @ the dollar store.. and put it all in a box. BEST GIFT EVER. Went in for balloons with my 3 year old. Cashier lady( Hispanic) heard wrong number . She could just apologize like I did but gave me attitude while giving me correct one. She even told my daughter not to play with balloons when she just jumps up to grab strings. She didn't run around the damn store with them. REBECCA is awesome!! She gave me the best customer service I ever had my whole life!! I was looking for colored sand. They only had one container left. She sat on the pone with me calling every store in the bay area. She was w/ me on the phone trying to track this down for me for over and hour. She was great to talk to, and had a great sense of humor... and patience! She even called me the other day to let me know that they received a case of some more sand.
