A few months ago, I was shopping at the Five Below store at the Oxford Valley Mall in Langhorne, PA (outside of Philadelphia) where I snagged some bargains including some books and gag gifts. I'm very glad there's now a Five Below store in NH, which is located in the former Famous Footwear space. Some interesting stuff they carry include colorful boogie boards, hula hoops, Red Sox beach balls, whoopee cushions, Hannah Montana & HSM logo merchandise, Patriots logo items, The Simpsons Uno card games, classic thick hardcover book of Superman comics, Jonas Bros hardcover book, and glitter lamps. They also have official size basketballs, footballs, and volleyballs for $5 each. Flip flops are $3 & $5, printed t-shirts $5, MLB kooky pens $2.99, chess game $5, DVD movies $5, Hello Kitty gardening tool $4, and movie sized boxed candy are $1. Pop and dance music from the early 2000s pumps over the speakers in the store for a very fun, fun, fun shopping experience. The store section is really weirdly spaced out there should be room for a lot more with how big the floor area is but the racks are really poorly spaced. The bins are the main event, they are essentially the un sorted items that are received before they go out on the floor priced, sold by the pound there is a chance to get something good for cheap and always a lot of turn around.

The layout of the space somewhat resembled that of the store out in Dedham, MA, but I didn't find the raincoats in the Insider Coupons/Crazy Deal section. I didn't find a store employee till I headed over towards the registers, but she quickly walked me over to where they had the raincoats stocked. The cashier who took care of my purchase was friendly and instructive. The best customer service I've had at an Ocean State Job Lot, and probably the best I've had anywhere this year.

The supervisor Edwin was outright rude and refused to install new tires costing $1500 just because the cardholder was 15 minutes late--an unprofessional attitude that shows a complete lack of customer respect. Moreover, the staff at this location behave as if they are installing free tires and often display a poor attitude and lack of hygiene. My prior experiences were equally horrifying: once, they completely forgot to torque my tires, which almost caused a deadly accident, putting my family at serious risk. On another occasion, they canceled an appointment just one day before the scheduled date, which I had set three weeks in advance, simply because they didn't want to work on my truck. We have now severed all ties with this shop and are taking our business elsewhere. Such poor customer service and reckless behavior are not worthy of a loyal member's business, especially one with such a long-standing relationship with Costco. If you value your safety and expect proper care, steer clear of this tire shop.

You can barely make in through the aisles. I'm not sure what is available in the front room - if there isn't a giant stuffed animal blocking your view, there are boxes in the way. You want to see the jewelry in the front case. You can't. Too much junk in the way. If you make your way into the front side room, it is pretty tidy in there. That's where you'll find clothes, books, and puzzles. I checked the price of a paperback book - $2. Puzzles were between $2 and $5 (some new). If you make your way to the back room there is kitchenware and kids' toys. A used cheese grater that was originally $9 was marked $5. Too much for this cheapo. A vintage looking electrical appliance was $75. I don't know what is was, but that seems way too pricey for any small kitchen appliance. I was interested in some of the china, but it was packed in too tight with coffee cups ($2) dangling from hooks in front of them. Removing a plate would be like playing Jenga with glass blocks. They need to have a sale and get rid of some of the junk that is just in the way. People can't buy things if they can't see them. Do like other thrift stores and figure out a way to identify how long something has been on the store floor, and then automatically drop the price after a month or whatever. I know you want to make as much as you can for the charity, but if people can't see what you're selling, they won't buy it. If you price it too high for your clientele, it won't sell either. You can't raise money for the charity by just hoarding stuff! I do want to point out that the women who work here are very nice!
