We were spending a weekend near Swansboro, and since it was rainy weather, she decided that we would not go kayaking, as I wanted, but would go shopping! I don't mind it, really. Sometimes you come across a really great find at these little shops. We didn't purchase anything at this particular store, but I was more than a little impressed with this shop. It was very unassuming from the outside, but the interior told a different story. They have some very nice quality furniture and appliances, and all kinds of trinkets, clocks, fine china, etc. All in all, not a bad consignment shop at all. Especially when you compare it to many others that simply sell garbage. Check it out. You never know what you'll find.

Unique items that are both beautiful and useful, and not the same-old selection found at the usual "coastal" Carolina gift shops. Love that they are open until 9pm, a rare find in small town shops it seems (as if no one wants to shop after dinner? I'll never get it). Only two downsides: pricing is a bit all over the map, even for a boutique store. Most items are reasonably priced, but some seem a high ($150 for a pair of salt and pepper shakers) and they don't take American Express. To make the matter worse, after asking me if I had another payment method the clerk told me to "call American Express and let them know their merchant fees are too high" and that a "small business can't afford to take Amex". Talk about poor customer service! This really left me with a sour taste, especially considering that Amex merchant fees are only 1-2% higher than Visa or MasterCard. Going to have to call "BS" that the margins on the products at a boutique decor store don't allow for an additional 1-2% cost. Either way, very unprofessional of the clerk.

I have had such a incredibly unique experience with Family Furnature in Cape Carteret NC I felt compelled to share and go outside my norm. I am furnishing an entire house near Cape Carteret, so I am watching my spend for quality and service to an entirely different level than eating out. One area that is driving into our costs is the house furnishing. I shopped around different furnature places and have found some fantastic local companies. One business has stood out though, Family Furnature. These folks really have a very nice and unique selection of furnature, and have gone out of their way to accommodate us. We started out with a simple purchase which they agreed to hold in storage for free. Then they offered us free financing, "just pay us when you can" between now and when you move in. I'm like ... "say what??" So I cranked up the ask and said I need six beds, will you give me the same deal to hold the furnature for free, with no financing. They said yes, and also gave us a 20% discount on the beds. We have since then bought several other pieces, of which they gave us exceptional deals and free hold with no finance fees. It's almost to good to be true...except Dori and I are living it. I found talking to some of the other customers, they were repeat customers and had the same experience. ... I thought Don, Rose and Keith had made Dori and I special deals just because we were buying a lot of items... not true, they treat everyone the same. As far as experience I would have to say the one bad review Family has received, needs to be thrown out as not being relevant. Look at statistical rules of population and data relevance. You'll see anything less than seven data points can't be used as a valid determination of a relevant pattern. I almost question if of both sides of the story been heard and are truly represented. Bottom line this place has saved me thousands of dollars, treated me well beyond fair and it's genuinely just a nice place to do business with, so I highly recommend if you are looking for a new bed or furnature go in and determine for yourself.

I love popping in to shop for my boys or snag some fun seasonal home goods--it's like a little adventure every time. The ladies who work here are total gems--so sweet, always cheerful, and they make the whole place feel extra welcoming. There's plenty of parking (praise be!), and making donations is super easy--just swing around to the back. Best part? Shopping here feels good because it supports a great cause. I have been fly fishing for 40 years. This young man is a avid fisherman. But his flyrods are not loaded with the incorrect weight line. Generally you take an 8 weight and "cheat" and load it with 9 weight line. I had an 8 weight with 7 weight line that he provided. I can double haul a fly with the right line into the backing. He is focused on the easy catch, a bait ball. He has never used a switch rod or a Spey rod. He is basically a "gear head" lots of spin rods on board. I know, I am a demanding client. But I was very specific "Just get us on fish, and only with a fly rod in my hand." Any time I have fished off the Carolinas I have caught Spanish Mackerel, He did not have a fly rod set us with a bite leader, even though he said if the False Albacore were not on, we will catch Spanish Mackerel. He provided a "boat ride"...and I have a boat. Save your money. Shame on me for not doing more careful research on Perry's abilities. As much I like Perry, he blew it. He should have been honest and told me to save my money. It was a boat ride. Find another guide is my best advice for you. Oh, and for $900 he does not provide a simple lunch, like a 6 inch Subway. My bad, fool me once shame on you...but he will never fool this angler a second time. The guest I brought along did get sea sick, and Perry was considerate and compassionate towards him. But that was later in the day. Perry did discount the trip to a 3/4 day, ($750). But the bigger point was the bite was never on, and he knew it. Please take this review as my way to help you have a great day on the water...after all "the tug is the drug" :)

Piggly wiggly is like any other store price wise things have gotten expensive of course they have it's the economy. Well yesterday I stopped in or swansboro pig we wiggling I was with a friend of mine and my friend said hmm I normally don't shop there because their meats have gone up it's expensive. I said well that's my hometown store we're just going to run in for a few things so upon entering the store I know it's hell very cold it was you can almost see your breath I was freezing come to find out the heat went out no big deal things happen. So as I went to the Express checkout I was waited on by someone who I thought was a very nice person we've actually had conversations we've talked about a lot of things I know everyone in there and they all are pretty well pleasant. Well there's a girl who works the express all her name is cresha.. upon checking out my groceries I said Jesus it's cold in here she said yeah the heat went out I said I gathered that it's pretty chilly I paid for my groceries she bagged them up and my friend right behind me she rang up his bill his bill came to 35 but he can't hear that well so he handed her 25 so jokingly to him who always says pig is very expensive I looked at him and I said geez Bob you know good and well it's more than that you're in Piggly wiggly it's expensive.. we both laughed that was between him and I jokingly. Well the cashier blew up at me she told me that she was tired of me complaining and that I need to go to Walmart or food Lion and not to come back to that store again.. and she yelled and I was floored I couldn't believe she would speak that way to me or any other guest plus it wasn't a conversation I was having with her it was an inside joke between me and my friend who refuses to shop there but I talked him into it cuz we were getting a few items. It upset him so bad he said this is the unprofessional place Ellen no way with Lowes food Walmart or food Lion ever have an employee talk to anyone the way that she just blasted you and told you not to come back to Piggly wiggly.. very disrespectful and so so unprofessional. She was complaining that they open from 12:00 to 4:00 cuz we had a snowstorm and how ridiculous it was just to open for those short hours I assume by her attitude she was called into work. They let anyone and everyone come in and sit and knit, which is a great time to take in all the yarn candy in the shop. They are so friendly they helped my husband find a great birthday gift, a yarn hat kit, and he was proud to hand it to me. There is an eclectic group of people that come and knit, and some that come in, asking a plethora of questions, all answered btw, and buy their fibers there. In Swansboro does not mean far from beachers, tourists, and lovers of a short distance adventure from the beach. AND well worth the time to be with Peggy and Roxanne, and everyone that comes in. And don't check the faces, those knitters are knitting one of the wonderful yarns and pattern that both Peggy and Roxanne have helped them find to your liking.
