Based on several shopping experiences, Costco corporate appears to be patting each other on the back for being "clever," while they are really unethical and manipulative. First, they don't mark the aisles, in order to manipulate the customer into impulse purchases, as he/she wastes extra time walking multiple aisles to find the item of interest. Employees are scarce, so asking one can be difficult. Second, they send you a check for your Costco dollars, rather than simply adding it to your account; once again, corporate is banking on a certain percentage of customers who forget to cash the check or who may even misplace it. I'm sure several upper execs are bonused partly on this cleverly stolen money. The cost of printing the Costco dollar checks is more than made up for, with those which are unredeemed. One rationalizes it by stating that they are doing nothing wrong - they give the consumer the check. It's his/her responsibility to cash/redeem it. An honest person (or company) would find the most fail-safe method to be sure someone receives everything they are owed. Costco's moral cynicism never ceases to baffle me. In spite of the billions they receive from loyal customers, they almost appear to look down on them.

I used to hit up the FYE back in the DVD days, but haven't gone in one since Obama's first term. So imagine my surprise when I'm rolling through the Provo Mall to see an FYE. Stunned. When I went in, it was much different than I remember. The DVDs and CDs were mostly relegated to the bargain bins. FYE's reason for survival quickly became clear: The most voluminous collection of Pop! Funko in the entire mall; a gigantic Rick & Morty display in the front; enough pop culture t-shirts to clothe an army; DC and Marvel comic clothes and collectables, vinyl records and cool turntables; and Pop Sockets (accessories for the back of cell phones). They've really found a way to stay competitive with the other pop culture stores by having "exclusives", such as the Batman/Aquaman 2-pack, and Pennywise (with teeth) from "It", and Jimmy Hendrix burning his guitar at the Monterrey Pop Festival. I put the word "exclusives" in quotes as you can get them on Amazon; however, even those have the FYE label on them. The "For Your Entertainment" of FYE has changed a bit, away from the movies themselves and rapidly toward the clothes we wear and the collectibles we display long after we see the film. I get the distinct feeling that the new, evolved FYE is here to stay.

There was a very long line in the clothing section that wrapped back and forth four times I think, like a ride at Disneyland. There were also almost out of all the garments with only the extreme extra large or extra small sizes available. I've never seen a run on garments but that seems to be the case here. The rest of the store where the art, books and food are was far more leisurely and less congested. As always the food section has tempting treats and some mixes to take home too.

She was not only friendly, but seemed to exceed typical customer service standards. I am one that really loves to recognize people for the good work that they do. So thank you for doing your job (especially) as a manager! All the team members that I've come in contact with throughout every visit has seemed more than pleasant. Will continue to shop with Stokes as much as I do.
