I like much of the quality found at Costco - particularly with the food. However, I often shop at Costco only because it's closer to my home than Sam's. Based on several shopping experiences, Costco corporate appears to be patting each other on the back for being "clever," while they are really unethical and manipulative. First, they don't mark the aisles, in order to manipulate the customer into impulse purchases, as he/she wastes extra time walking multiple aisles to find the item of interest. Employees are scarce, so asking one can be difficult. Second, they send you a check for your Costco dollars, rather than simply adding it to your account; once again, corporate is banking on a certain percentage of customers who forget to cash the check or who may even misplace it. I'm sure several upper execs are bonused partly on this cleverly stolen money. The cost of printing the Costco dollar checks is more than made up for, with those which are unredeemed. One rationalizes it by stating that they are doing nothing wrong - they give the consumer the check. It's his/her responsibility to cash/redeem it. An honest person (or company) would find the most fail-safe method to be sure someone receives everything they are owed. Costco's moral cynicism never ceases to baffle me. In spite of the billions they receive from loyal customers, they almost appear to look down on them. read more

This is a review for the food court specifically. I guess the first thing that I should say about this is that I got all this food for $6.49 after tax, which is absolutely insane compared to anywhere else you could get food of this quality. I can eat a lot, so I ordered all of this for myself, but most people would be satisfied with just a hotdog and a fountain drink for $1.50. Another thing about the Costco food court that I loved is that I got all this food in about 2 minutes. I walked in, went straight to one of the 6 self-serve kiosk registers, ordered my food, and waited for my number to be called. I was nervous when the first number I heard was ten orders before mine, but they were cranking out the food. For the speed, the price, and the taste, I don't think you can beat this food court. Also, you do NOT need a membership to eat at the food court. You can just walk in through the exit and head straight to the food court, but I make sure to stop and grab some food after exploring all the great Costco deals. read more

I bought some flowers at Costco to use for a class I was teaching. I wish I had gone to Smith's to buy them. Smith's has a lot more variety and the prices are better. Anyone can shop at Smith's without having to pay for a membership. And I needed greenery to go with the flowers, which Smith's sells. Costco does not sell any. And Smith's also sell flowers that are a little older for a lot less. I will go to Smith's the next time I need flowers for teaching a class. I asked one of the manager's at Costco if he could give me a better deal because I was using the flowers for teaching a class and I would publicize their name. He would do nothing for me. read more

I have been a loyal customer of Costco for decades. One of the most important products for me is the organic ground beef. I had a meat subscription for a short period of time, and although I was able to purchase a much larger variety of organic meats I realized that our family favorite meat was organic ground beef so we stopped our subscription and started buying our meats exclusively from Costco again and began to stock up. My freezer got thin and to my surprise they replaced the organic ground beef with halal meat. Spanish Fork is a VERY heavy LDS city (over 90%). In fact, over 95.4% identify as "Christian". Why is the Spanish Fork Costco catering to a religious population that is possibly non-existent in Utah County? My membership is up soon and I will not be renewing unless organic ground beef is brought back to our store. I don't care if they want to sell halal products, but don't replace our quality products with sub-quality products to seem "inclusive". This is just garbage. My membership no longer has value if I can't buy organic beef. This was a major oversight from management. read more

Return possibilities! We are a family of 7, so we buy in bulk and keep the pantry stocked. So we love Costco. We enjoy tasting samples and grabbing a quick bite all together without breaking the bank. As for purchases outside of food, my spouse and I often make a decision to buy with the final comment of "its Costco" which to us means we can buy it and if we don't love it we can always return it. Like anytime. We had a heater for the kids room that we used once and realized we didn't really need it so a year later without a receipt they gladly gave us a full refund. We LOVE their return policy. Be more cautious with electronic purchase though. As for their rewards, we get a check each year for using their credit card and gas. We highly recommend it. As for the membership fees, with their highest membership if you don't get that much back in rewards cash they will refund your membership dues to you. So try it for a year carefree knowing if you don't see value in the store they will take care of you. I have to finish with this realization. As we have discussed living in the city or a little more out of the city. My personal quality of life is based on how close I live to a Costco. In different stages of life, whether raising kids or being grandpa I want to make a quick run to grab a short grocery list item and a hot dog or a drink on a lazy Saturday or after work. The store is always clean and well organized. The workers are always happy to ask questions even when they seem super focused or busy. I would even say they are patient because we all know how crazy packed it can get in the middle of the day on weekends. Pro Tip for your wallet, don't grab a shopping cart. This limits how much you can carry and how long you want to carry them all for. I've done this several times and successfully managed to keep my shopping total way under $100 (which is usually what is spent when one goes to Costco). read more

Went to pick up a bed that they said they had in stock. I drove 30 minutes. They couldn't find it. They told me to go talk to the front checkout. As I went to front checkout they told me to drop my cart and not touch it. As if I was stealing or something when I was no where near the exit, and the lady I was asked to talk to was a few feet away. Went to talk to the lady and when I went back a few minutes later, someone had taken my shopping cart. I love Costco and never had an experience like this before. Just went in for tires and went through the sign up process. It was a bit slow to got signed up. The help was good and they covered everything. I wished they were faster because I wad in my lunch break. The tires were about 200 to 400 dollars less here than anywhere else I had quoted. I don't mind a little more but it was dumb to pay a lot more for the same tires. The prices seemed only a little less per tire until I realized they were including in the price many things that others charge for. While I waited I ate, walked around. It was clean and nice. The only downside was the slow service. They told me an hour for tires and it was just I over two. They were not crazy busy, in fact at times mine was the only car there. read more

I have loved this Costco for years. I know many of the workers by name. But the company has made unfavorable change after unfavorable change. Most recently, they misplaced my photo books I took great care to order before shipping was mandatory. They recommended I speak with Costco Photo Customer Service with the number available online. This is were I am just beyond words. They actually hung up on us. Twice. What crazy tactics to put you on hold forever, then hang up on you. Costco is awesome! Great prices on gas, good prices on other products and they treat their employees well! Unlike Sam's Club. I like the fact that you can get staple items for a discount on large quantities. The employees are always friendly too! You get samples while shopping, what more could you ask for? Take the exec membership for 2% cash back or get the Costco Amex Card for 3% back on fuel and the 2% plus 1% on all other buys anywhere. My advice would be to stay away from the center of the store. I had just started my 12 hour drive from Salt Lake to Southern California, and was about an hour and a half in when my low tire light went off. While no particular tire was low, I noticed that all 3 older tires had pieces shredding off of them, even though they were well within the mileage warranty! I took low-speed back roads to get to the Spanish Fork Costco, which unfortunately did not have my tires in stock. It was an especially stressful time since I was traveling with a large dog and it was 100° outside. Russ was amazing. He found my tires at the other nearby Costco, and got me set up and back on my trip within just a few hours and on safe tires! It was such a peace of mind to know that a tire wouldn't shred off during the next thousands of miles I had to drive over the following weeks. Ross in be photo center was unbelievably rude. I handed him my Costco card and let him know I had an online order. Just as I would at my own Costco. He literally tossed my card onto the counter instead of handing it back to me and condescendingly told me where to look for my pictures. When I approached the counter him and the other photo employee Jeff finished up their private conversation before he even helped or acknowledged me. I was very put off. I let him know that our Costco does it differently and he tried to make polite conversation but after his previous tone and his tossing my card at me, I wasn't appreciative of it. read more

I'm just not a fan of the "club" stores. The lines here are nuts, a line to park, a line to show your card to get in, a line to check out, a line to show your receipt to leave.... Just not my thing. Prices are not what as cheap as most think, I'm guessing. If one were to compare prices with other stores, they'd find they aren't saving that much money. HOWEVER, this applies only if one is willing to buy the store brands in other stores. Which, I am. I use the place because it is closer than Sam's and has things I need for my business, so convenience. Aside from my dislike of the club stores, there is a reason I gave just 3 stars, On more than a few occasions, I've had to deal with their customer service desk and on every one of those occasions left dissatisfied. The wait was way to long just to ask a question or get some help. They have no rhyme or reason there in the order in which they help people. (Being next in line is not one of the reasons.) Also, trying to find a team member to help you if you have a question is not possible. They just don't have people on the floor for that. They have a person up front by the cash registers, but they are usually too busy to help because they are dealing with the chaos created by not having enough cashiers. I remember when they first opened the store, and selling memberships by the bazillions, they had every check stand open no matter how busy they were, no lines anywhere, people around to help with anything.... Bought new tires here. Everything is great here except the customer service. The tire guy forgot to get me my paperwork for new tires so I had to run back into the tire shop. In order to do that I was going to cut across through the exit and right to the tire shop. In doing so I was immediately yelled at by the lady checking receipts and was told I couldn't do that. I said "ok sorry I just need to grab some papers at the tire shop", she wanted to keep yelling at me over everyone and say "for future reference don't come this way". So while being inconvenienced about paperwork they also want me to be inconvenienced by having to show your card, go through entrance and then cut through the register isles (which are already crowded with people). It makes no sense, and is bad customer service. read more

It's been a great convience to have costco in our town because we used to have to drive all the way to provo to get some of our groceries. What to say about Costco? It's like shopping in a giant box filled with other human people and being surrounded by obscene amounts of goods. Which is good because the obscene amounts are usually reasonably priced. Downside is that they only carry very specific brands, so you may need to compromise on what you need. Upside is that they have samples of the various foods, so Saturday morning shopping trips are less fatiguing than usual. This particular location is fairly well-stocked and has pretty quick lines, even when they look long. They do close early, so it's a good idea to check hours first. read more
