First of all I will offer the disclaimer that I am not a Dollar General Store fan and could never award this chain a five star review. The merchandise varies as to whether I would buy it. Wrapping paper and greeting cards are one item that I would consider. Clothing in general is often inferior and cheaply made. Seasonal items are sometimes a good buy and sometimes not. This is not the kind of store that sells anything and everything for a dollar so you have to watch prices. This location of Dollar General is convenient when I need to run in for a card or wrapping paper. It has the common parking lot with other businesses that I shop and plenty of parking spaces for all the businesses. The store itself is kept clean and organized. It seems a lot more roomy than the other location of this business in Shelbyville. You can even walk with one of the stores carts up and down the rows. So if I want to shop Dollar General this is the location I would choose, it's A-OK for this type of store.

As I have gotten older sometimes convenience out weighs going to the store and facing the frustrations of no electric scooter carts available or the store being out of what I intended to buy. My successful change has been enrolling in the Walmart Plus program and shopping at home online from my local store at Walmart.com The advantages of shopping this way: I place an order online and have the delivery made directly to my door. I don't have to search the store for hard to locate items, the Walmart employer has the tool to find each item. If they were out of the item it gets shipped to me for no extra fee and arrives within several days. The disadvantages of shopping on Walmart.com: I never order perishable items such as meat or produce. Occasionally the employee pulls the wrong item, i.e. can fruit in fruit juice vs .can fruit sugar free but returns are welcome at the Service desk in the store if I really care about the error. I still shop in person in the garden center, or produce but shopping online has saved me alot of gas,time,and frustration.

I once saw them put milk out for clearance on regular unrefrigerated shelves... the produce, and meat always looks meh. If a product bursts in shipping, they don't take time to wipe down the surrounding products and will just place spoiled food covered products on the shelves. I just haven't been impressed.

A guy (his name was Anthony, long beard, with a piercing) was so so helpful to me the other day while I was trying to pick out cheeses for a specific event. He seemed very knowledgeable and was willing to come over and help me figure out what I needed without me even having to flag someone down. I have never gotten expired or rotten food here like I have at the Walmart in town, and with the exception of food recalls, my in-season produce is always in stock and easy to find.

The chunkier girls seem to be in charge and it was obvious that Helena was doing all of the work. This place is so poorly managed, and I doubt they can keep help from their lack of management. You can tell people in charge are poorly educated and lazy. To the woman named Helena you deserve better your work ethic and motivation is more than the manager deserves and I really hope corporate office find out about the poorly managed store. The heavy set woman Christina is an example of what is wrong with the workforce. A two rating overall but Helena gets a 10.

I was debating about one of the diet products that I had seen advertised in National magazines. The pharmacy staff assisted me since I take a variety of prescription medicines and I wanted to be sure they wouldn't interact against each other. The answer was a simple no but the staff member shared with me that the product doesn't necessarily work like advertised and she had tried it and found it disgusting. That's good enough for me to decide to pass. The general merchandise in the store covers a broad range of needs. I found a comb that I had been searching for and neither Walmart or Kroger had it. I bought two since I've been searching high and low for it. My biggest complaint about this store is getting in and out of the parking lot. You can't legally turn left into it from either street. You can go out of your way to approach the parking lot from either street to make a right turn into the parking lot. Getting out of the lot once again a left turn doesn't work so you have to fight the traffic and make a right turn out. If this store was located anywhere else I would give e it an additional star. I'm just not into getting into accidents or getting traffic tickets.
