It has plenty of already filled balloons with many occasions like birthday graduation etc. Conveniently located in the heart of Scott's valley right opposite the TARGET. I love the cheap candy and stationery and greeting cards and seasonal holiday decor. Plenty of parking and places to eat nearby also. read more

The Scotts Valley dollar tree is so clean and well organized however, I just visited there and they now have a lot of items that are marked three dollars to five dollars which makes it less fun to shop... It used to be great to wander through the store and put things in the cart Because everything was $1.25... Scotts Valley is arguably the most unusual city in Santa Cruz County, by virtue of it being so white-bread middle class. Exhibit #1: it has a Dollar Tree. In the same center as a Kmart. I don't go scouting out Dollar Trees. But if I need to pick up something quick and cheap, it's a good place to do that. With Santa Cruz real estate being so unavailable and expensive (and anti-corporate), Dollar Tree has pretty much been priced out of Santa Cruz. Not Scotts Valley, it's here and it's thriving. It's an unusual layout, because it's in the corner of the shopping center and therefore not the usual rectangular shaped cube. On the left side is mostly household goods, on the right side is mostly food. In the middle are the checkers. Merchandise is what you'd typically find at a normal Dollar Tree. The square footage is bigger than normal, but still feels cramped. Not much more to write. If you go to Dollar Tree, you'll feel at home at this one. And if you cringe at the thought of Dollar Tree, hey, it's a free country, at least since January 2017, so you can go somewhere else. read more

The issue is not the people that work there they're great they're friendly and for what they probably get paid they always have a smile on their face. My issue is with the store and their pricing for example lemon concentrate used to be a dollar and you used to get a full bottle. Now it's a $1.25 and you get half as much. If I'm going to be paying the extra 25 cents I definitely want a full bottle. And now they've got a couple two or three freezers that they're anywhere from 2:00 to $5 I can understand that but I can get the same product at the grocery store for less. I live in Scotts Valley and have shopped here since the Dollar Store opened but NO more. I've gone in at slow times since COVID started and see people without masks every single time and there is no attempt to social distance in the long lines. Yesterday I saw an older women without any face covering and pointed it out to a clerk who passed me and he said "whatever"! I used to be so hooked on the dollar tree stores. They always seem to have so many little things mostly all junk... LOL... I am sure most of you would agree. This little store in Scotts Valley was pretty neatly kept, Everything was put away and there was no boxes or junk laying around along the isles. More than 90% of their merchandise is junk but every once in a while you will luck out and find some pretty good name brand items. The stores are still known to have the best and biggest Selection of party and holiday Decour items for cheap. The quality of products is about what you would expect for a dollar but I encourage Scotts Valley shoppers to stop in occasionally to grab some bargains. A lot of things you might spend 2-3x as much on at a drugstore. Great stuff for kids birthdays. This store frequently stocks $1 pregnancy tests. Seriously, if you're buying a pregnancy test, pony up the extra $. This is not something to bargain shop for. My friend made a joke to the cashier about it, who told her that they sell out really quickly. There's a thesis for a sociology major in there somewhere. Also, the conversations in the check-out line are not to be missed. Every time there's a long line here I just settle in to enjoy. I totally love the Dollar Tree store. For starters, what can you buy for a dollar anymore? You can get all kinds of cleaning supplies, tupperware, dog toys, party goods, etc. Now they even have a frozen food section. I highly recommend this place because they do sell some of the same brand name items you find in a Safeway or Walgreen's but for a lot less. The customer service is good but my only gripe is the lines get kind of long since it's quite popular. They usually only have one cashier so you end up waiting a bit. read more

My wife and I just came home from Mountain Hermon Scotts Valley California Dollar Tree branch . We don't usually go to dollar tree but since we were at Scotts Valley's Farmers Market we decided to stop by and check the store since it's just on the same shopping center. We were treated so badly and so rudely by one of the workers there that got myself and my wife so upset. We think she is minority like us. My wife being a Nurse and my self being a Health Care Worker should never be treated like that. She didn't have to be so rude about it, she works for customer service, we even greeted her good morning and asked how she was, she didn't respond at all and started bagging our stuff without asking if we want a bag or not. There was no pleasantries on how she spoke to us , she demanded for us to put the money on the counter and said " I don't want to touch your hand" . We understand it's pandemic and with this Covid situation we have the right to be careful about everything but we don't have to be so rude about it, there are better ways to communicate with your customers rather than degrading and traumatizing them . I hope this won't happen to anyone out there and we hope that customer service lady (she was not wearing her name badge by the way) would read this and realize how her actions affects people's day. It is not nice to be rude with your customers especially if all they were doing was shopping at your store and giving you a paycheck! read more

The lines are long because this place fills a need for an awful lot of us. If the place were useless it wouldn't be busy. So... Go when you're not in an enormous hurry - they're open 15 hours out of the day so there should be a sweet spot in there somewhere for you - and save a ridiculous amount of money. read more

On August 2 I decided to stop at this Dollar Tree Store, I did see few items I liked but not sure on the size of ribbon I was buying, as a coworker was stocking the shelves, I asked if I bought a lot of this ribbons and if it was not the correct size can I get my money back? She secured me saying oh" yes they will, no problem, it's better to buy everything you need cause if you need more of the same item you might not find it, so it's better to buy a lot and just return it if it's not the size you want ! So I did, I bought a lot of ribbons! I went home and I opened one roll of ribbon and it was to large for the project I was working on! But I felt good that I can just go back and get my refund! I got there and asked a cashier where I go to get my refund, she responded me saying " you must get in line! As I waited in line for a while, since only one registered was open, I finally got to the front I graved a coke to drink, I got thirsty, no air conditioning, I guess it's broken... it was so hot! Well she started ringing everything up and asked why I was returning it, I responded that I bought the wrong size! She said okay, when she was done she called the manager his name was cris! He said what is this? She said, he refund she bought this items and it's the wrong size! He rudely answered " we have no refund at the Dollar Tree, did you not reed your receipt? I responded No" then he said, well you should of! We can only exchange.. so start shopping and come back in line! I was so upset with his attitude and comments..I explained what I was told and he laughed, he said next time read your receipt" I told him he should have a policy sign for customers to be aware of, he said , sure" and just walked away !!! I did not have time to shop to exchange, but I will not let him keep my money, I will go back one more time and do the exchange! I didn't know an exchange made me less important, less of a customer.... This review is for the " Manager" Michelle.... I go to this location often.. let me start with that... I went in yesterday evening to do an exchange ( if you don't know the dollar tree does not do returns). I had on online order with a receipt on my phone. I let them know this and I left my order at the check stand and started my shopping. Once my shopping was completed I grabbed my order and went to check out. The cashier informed me she needed a manager, so i asked for help to move my items so she could take the next person .. and i waited... and waited.... finally when the "Manager" came out she went to the open register to fix an error with a transaction. Understandable, to keep the line moving. Then she says " Ill take the next person on 2".. immediately everybody hops over there. Mind you she NEVER acknowledged me. So I ask: Wait, are you going to help me? Her: After these people. Me: I've been waiting before this line, and your going to take these people ahead of me? Her: Yes- we have to keep the line moving. Me: I've been waiting for you to help me. Her: I'll get to you. And then i was seeing red! Me: This is bull shit, I have been waiting and your taking people before me. I'll take my items and go to another store. Cashier: Don't forget your stuff! Me: ( I lift my box) this is my stuff, your manager wouldn't take me to do my exchange, I'll go somewhere else. Never EVER have I cursed in a store or caused a scene. NEVER have I seen a MANAGER ... IGNORED a customer needing assistance. NEVER have I seen somebody start ringing people out of order. I didn't know other customers were more important than me, I did my time, I waited patiently and then I was IGNORED. And in the end she gives me a look like I'm crazy for being upset. They are always under stocked and the employees seem to not care. The store is extremely unorganized with toys and supplies scattered all over the shelves. I went in yesterday for some supplies and saw at least 3 employees walking around the store. As I got up to the registers, there was a line of about 10 people with only one reg open. I shop here often. I can tell that there is a difference in which location you shop in, as far as the inventory, personnel and cleanliness of the business. This location is the one closest to me. It is a shame that it is not on-par with others that I have visited. The stocking is hit or miss. The refrigerator is not clean, yet the employees told me that they were not ordering frozen foods to clean the refrigerator. That was a month ago and it still has not happened. There is usually only one checker and many times the lines are long. The bathroom looks like a health hazard. I like the store concept, I like the prices, I just do not believe that this location in particular is managed properly. I have met the manager and he has a chip on his shoulder and barks commands to his employees. I like to shop there, I am just not appreciative of this location. read more

I recently had the most pleasant shopping experience at Dollar Tree in Scotts Valley. I went into the store with specific items in mind that I wanted to buy. Upon entering the store, I was graciously greeted by a young lady named Ashley. I proceeded to ask her if they had in stock the items I wanted to purchase. Rather than just point me in their general direction (which is usually how my questions are answered), she took me to the specific item. Without any hesitation, Ashley subsequently helped me find everything I was looking for. She even knew exactly where to find each item. This young lady truly made my shopping experience so much more pleasurable than any I had ever had in this store. Due to the frequent turnover in stock and also because of the very broad assortment of random items stocked in this store, it can be difficult and overwhelming trying to find what one wants or needs. Upon checkout, Ashley even took the time to open my carton of eggs to make sure they were all okay. As it turned out, two of my eggs were cracked, so she immediately went to get me a replacement. This young lady, Ashley, should be commended for the personable manner in which she handles customers, her courteousness, her attention to detail and for a job very well done.
