The Scotts Valley Walgreens pharmacy seems to be in a nose dive. Ridiculously long lines at the pharmacy window. A woman I met had been sitting and waiting for an hour for a Covid test... and she'd even made an appointment and already checked in. There were about 6 staff members working behind the counter, so I can't imagine why lines and waits are so long. Is our town that addled in prescriptions that even one of our many local pharmacies is lumbering under the weight of demand? Are we really that unhealthy? Or is Walgreens really that unprepared? read more

This place is OK not great. Gets the job done for what I need. I got my prescriptions. There wasn't really a big line and a long way.

Pharmacist was rude when attempting to call script in. After then sending by computer required further clarification. Honestly the worst pharmacy I have ever dealt with in 35 years as a physician. Would recommend over the local CVS. I've only had good experiences at this store! I like the pharmacist I have come into contact with a couple of times, and there are generally no lines and things run smoothly in the store. Absolute worst! The 3 times I have been here to 20-30 minutes, even when not busy. They use one person to handle the line and the drive through so that individual alternates. 2 times now we have had prescriptions called in and it takes weeks to get. To call this place a joke is giving them too much credit. There is no way anyone should go here - literally just decide to close early because they feel like it. No competent staff. When they are actually open they have the longest lines for the simplest requests. The low-light of every few weeks is having to go there. Don't even get me started on the drive through of doom. 1 star is too much but Yelp won't let me do less. Do yourselves a favor (as we now have) and take your business somewhere else. Still horrible service. The pharmacy would not pick up the phone in spite of multiple calls, they they simply put your call on hold, when it rings they put you on hold again and ultimately you will be disconnected without speaking to anyone after holding on the phone for approximately 20 minutes. I called the pharmacy manager Andrew, he did not pick up and ultimately had to call the store manager. After the store manager got involved and delivered a direct message to the pharmacy, they still did not pick up. I ultimately gave them my phone number, they still did not call me even though the manager said they would. I called back to the store manager again, and finally I got a call from the pharmacy, the manager Andrew. He made every excuse in the book and when I asked him was he aware that the pharmacy would simply put people on hold until disconnecting them, he said they were really busy. Unfortunately, they are always really busy, and never pick up the phone. I've had this experience multiple times. Save yourself heartache and go over to CVS down the street. I had to go to Walgreens this one last time because of a prescription for my daughter that I could not get on Amazon, which is where I get my prescriptions now after finally being fed up with Walgreens. read more

This is not a good place to get a vaccination if you value your time. I arrived 5 minutes early and they were 50 minutes late for my scheduled appointment. The person I was sitting next to had been waiting over a hour past her appointment time to get her shots. Additionally, when preparing for the shot, they did a token single swipe with the alcohol pad then went for the injection. That is the first time I have ever seen anyone spend less than 5 seconds to clean the injection site. I'll drive an extra 15 minutes to someplace else in the future. read more

What an inefficiently run store. There were two high school girls running around giggling hiding in the beverage aisle eating candy when I asked them if there was anybody around the store that could help check me out they just giggled and told me they were on break. The slowest employee I've ever encountered at any store anywhere on the planet was checking a woman out at the photo center who seemed to be buying every piece of Halloween candy house at this particular drugstore. If this transaction was moving any slower it would be moving backwards in time. Eventually help was called for over the loudspeaker and a woman came out 15 minutes later eating chips cruising through the store as if she was at the beach heading towards the water to go for a quick dip. I will never make the mistake of ordering pictures for pickup at this location ever again. Manager Sandy you can do better than this! read more

Worst pharmacy ever. Every single person in line had an issue with them. They don't have enough staff. When trying to get my Covid and flu vaccines they couldn't get it to go through my insurance. This Walgreens has reeally gone downhill, especially the pharmacy. While many of the employees are nice, they are under-staffed, and even waiting in a short line can take a LOOONG while. And today I was looking for something in the pharmacy, when the Pharmacist walked by. I asked if he knew where I could find the item? He just kept walking, while saying, "I really have NO idea". Negligent pharmacy. If you really *need* your medications, go somewhere else. They arbitrarily close early (both drive-through and inside). The guy blocking the line inside doesn't wear a mask properly. A pharmacy should know if it's hanging down and nostrils/lip visible, then it's useless. Corralling customers into a small area during a pandemic spike like that is not acceptable. Based on all these reviews, it's been going on for some time. Maybe if they get sued they'll pay attention? They aren't selling trinkets or luxury items, they're medications people count on to manage their health. They're causing people to suffer and someone could die. The parent company needs to step in and come up with a remediation plan right away. read more

This is BY FAR the worst Walgreens pharmacy I've ever had to deal with. They're SUPER slow, taking on average 7.5 minutes per customer, with looong lines that stretch throughout the store's isles. They hardly ever answer the phone - they just pick it up and without saying a word immediately put it back on hold. You'll be better off going to Santa Cruz Walgreens - they answer the phone, rarely have lines and if they do - they handle it very quickly. read more

So this location took my disposable camera to develop and I understand sometimes the pictures get messed up, what happened was they gave me back an empty envelope with a disc in it and then charged me for the 24 exposures. I asked the guy why there was no prints and he didn't know. I also asked if I could call back and get my money back if there was no photos on the disc. This felt weird to me because there is always prints with a disc. I get home no photos on the disc. I have no called 3 times and been put on hold and then hung up on. Why did they take my money if they lost my pictures they should have just notified me. When I have had ones that failed before they at least put the messed up print into the envelope so I could see but this had nothing. read more

Probably the worst drug store I've ever been to in my life. They call you tell your prescriptions ready you come in no it's not ready. Then a day later he go to the window to pick up the supposed subscription they say oh the other ones not ready yet why don't you pick this one up with the other one it'll only be 20 minutes. You come back in 20 minutes and they've canceled the other prescription the one they had and don't have the other one. I believe this is part of the dumbing down of America. I am so grateful to have spoken to Maria in the Scotts Valley Pharmacy department! I was having a difficult time trying to get information on a medication that was ordered for me at the Soquel location. They said it was delayed because it was backordered and didn't know when they will have it in stock. Also, numerous times they told me they didn't know if it was covered by my insurance. I asked if they could check other locations to see if it's in stock. they said no. I say THEY because I had spoken to a number of people at the Soquel location and so did my doctors office. So I called the Scotts Valley location and unfortunately my medication was not in stock at that location as well. Maria was so great! She helped me locate another pharmacy that had it in stock and put through the prescription at that location. She also checked my insurance and was able to find out the my insurance does cover it!! Maria was so helpful, knowledgeable and patient. I wish she would train the other technicians at the Soquel location. Thanks Maria for all your help! read more

Well. It's Walgreens. It has standard Walgreens stuff. Not as good as Longs Drugstore stuff, though. But the folks here are friendly and once they let me return some nail polish that was past the 30 days return date on the reciept, so they're awesome for that. ( I guess I shouldn't really be telling the world about that cause they could get in trouble or something but it's still cool of them. ) Oh and they're open til midnight, which is cool. More shops should be open til midnight at LEAST, preferably 24 hours. Why isn't more stuff open late?? :P read more

Its frustrating for me to drive from the Santa Cruz Mountains to Scotts Valley to pickup my prescriptions to get turned away. The lines and wait time to get any prescriptions filled here is untenable, worst yet , when you get to the counter you discover that your auto- fill prescriptions aren't even filled and ready! So you must return later or on another day, wait in line for 40+ minutes again, lord help you if you have multiple prescriptions, for you must go through this wait-and-return for each one! they don't bundle them so its convenient for the customer, sometimes you must wait and return days apart. It took me 3 days, 4+ hours to get 3 prescriptions filled- even after specifically asking them to have them ready all at the same time. recently, their auto calling system called me to say that there may be an issue with one prescription and to call the pharmacist. so I did. I was on hold for 20 minutes, then it hung up, without anyone answering. My story is not unique, but sadly typical for all the customers who use this store. they are much better at excuses than customer service, one pharmacist telling me they had 750,000 prescriptions to fill- but that is what they are in business to do, they should be staffed to do so. (its like Mac Donalds saying the line is so long because they sell burgers!) They also claim to be under staffed (there were 7-8 people working the pharmacy this last time I went in, and a line 8 deep inside, and multiple cars lined up outside). The store manager told me that their employees were working 12 to 14 hour days, some 6 days a week! if this is even partially true it is very alarming, as mix ups and mistakes are bound to happen with peoples prescriptions from stressed and overworked pharmacists and the implications could be life threatening! While it would be easy to blame this stores management, the real issue here is the wages that Walgreens pays its employees. If they want more competent and dedicated employees, they must be dedicated to those employees. pay a competitive wage, pay a living wage, hire enough staff so as not to over work the staff they do have. Treat the customers (and their time) with respect so that they are not angry by the time they get to the counter! Walgreens just signed a multi-billion dollar deal with a company to provide health care services inside their stores (didn't they learn from their multi-billion dollar boondoggle with Thernos?) It would have been far better for the customers, employees, and their bottom line if they had first spent some of that money fixing the problems the currently have. The only way Walgreens is going to change is if they loose enough business to affect the bottom line. Managers and directors who are pinching Penneys to impress corporate fat cats, who never have to experience what their customers do, are ineffective and a detriment to the customers and the company both. It's time to boycott Walgreens, make your complaints known. its time to spend (and encourage others to) money at businesses that deserve our hard earned money, and have respect for their customers. The worst Walgreens I've ever been to. The pharmacy is horrible and that's why the one star. I've ordered my prescription and it's never ready on time, the staff is so slllloooowww and tired. I have been using Walgreens as my pharmacy for over 30 years. I've used locations all over the US and have had no problems. I recently moved to the Scotts Valley area and began trying to use the local Walgreens. It has been a complete disaster. They have gotten my prescriptions wrong, they have been unable to properly bill my insurance company and more. On top of general incompetence, they are very rude. Today they bungled a refill despite an approved refill in the Walgreens system. They tried to blame me. Oh, and the waits are very long. read more

The store staff have been their for years and it is one of the nicest Walgreens you've been in. Good Toys! Well stocked shelves, clean. Convenient. When it was Jay it was great, it's still great. James always makes me laugh. Now as far as the pharmacy. The techs are very good and have been their along time. Almost feels ma and pa but don't get too comfortable. The pharmacists here are among the worst I have ever encountered. Just go here and tolerate them if you want cheap meds. But don't expect them to know your profile, think for a second, use common sense, or go out of the way for you at all. I called last week to try and sort out a problem ahead of time. The pharmacist was so overwhelmed with what was going on around her she hung up on me in the middle of my second sentence. No consistency in experience across pharmacists or per the pharmacy in general. Some will call the doctor just to confirm a script or immaterial detail, even for non-scheduled meds, when another pharmacist won't. The drive-thru line is total joke and is completely mismanaged, as it can take 25 mins (literally) for one car and 2 mins for another. read more

This store's pharmacy closes in middle of the day, yet does not show this on it's website. Bad enough that it takes hours to fill a prescription and closes early ( 6pm) on weekends. Way understaffed. I will be steering as many customers away as possible from now on. read more
