No one should patronize this place. The clientele and drug addicts hanging out in front are bad enough. Pretty much everyone behind the counter is dismissive and rude. More than that - I recently discovered someone has been skimming my bank account. It's pretty much been traced back to this place, back in 2002. Yeah, it's pretty stupid of me to have not noticed. That doesn't excuse the thievery. Basically, they skimmed my RFID from the pin pad and got my pin from the camera. SO, f this place and all those people. I shouldn't even give them one star, I go here every morning and see these 2 woman over charge ever one then pull that money from the till and stuff a tip jar full of money, I know it's what they are doing because one of them told me then the next day the other lady started on me. She thinks I'm not going to notice a large coffee is now $ 4.24 and I say that's not the price and she says oh you don't want a muffin, then changed it again to $5.69 and say that's the price take it of leave the store. They charged me the incorrect price for milk and then proceeded to be incompetent about the options. They could only fully refund the charge as if I returned the milk, or charge me the incorrect price. Most other places either return the difference, or give it to you for free, and then correct the sign. The two cashiers were just helpless, and I had to ask them to tell the manager. In the end I had to leave because I was pressed for time, but even the two other customers in line agreed with me. I am just shocked. read more

When we first moved to the area, we were happy to see this corner store where we could get something convenient. That was the only good part and we never set foot in the second time. I have zero expectation for their customer service. I have bigger problem with the outside. For lack of good words, it is simply gross. Their customers littered sidewalk with food packages, spilled sugary drinks, chewed up gums, and whatever else. From time to time there is urine smell at Broadway side. And dark patches from liquid spill from the store's trash bin cross the whole side walk. There are always homeless lingering outside, especially after dark. We have to pass this street corner to walk our dogs. I simply cannot lay my eye down on the pavement, and I pick up my little one off the ground as we pass through. It is a health hazard. read more

WORST STORE EVER I had to pay for a cup to give MY SERVICE DOG water after being told several time before at the same store I didn't have to pay for a cup to give my service dog water. It was $1.75 for the cup plus $2.30 for the bottle of water. Slurpees During the summers, I am addicted to slurpees and since I was in Santa Cruz to catch up on some much needed sun as well as thinking time for my puffy little head, I stopped here to pick up some bottled water for myself as well as the puparoo. In addition, I picked up some of my fave Lay's Jalapeno kettle chips and a large Slurpee mix of the Full Throttle and classica cherry. A typical layout of a 7-Eleven and this joint was clean and occupied by a bunch of guys in their swimming trunks. Outside, their cars were topped with boards. Friendly service by the young kid up front and walking out, someone asked me for a light. Sorry, dude, I don't smoke. read more

This location was just purchased by a new owner, and there is a noticeable difference. No longer are the employees incredibly rude, and uncourteous. I was surprised and even asked about what had changed. The store is now better stocked, cleaner, and has a generally better feel than prior to the new ownership. The employees are courteous, friendly, and helpful. I ended up speaking with the new owner, and his wife who were both pleased to hear my opinion. I encourage anyone in the neighborhood, or in the area to check it out. Especially if you are a local turned off by a past bad experience. The Hispanic clerk in there tonight had a major attitude .. the lovely lady mopping had seen me drip a bag of pretzels and let me know they had baskets available, I politely declined. You are probably wondering why in the hell a 7 eleven would receive 4 stars. So first of all, the place is clean and well kept. Their coffee doesn't taste like stale grinds or ass and they always have what I need when it comes to food or other random items (maybe its just luck). The folks who work here (and I have been going to this 7- eleven for like 6 years) are not rude or bitter...It is an interesting dynamic at this particular 7-11: locals, prostitutes from barson street, drunks coming back from clubbing in the bay, and random folks providing loads of entertainment and social awkwardy. read more

But that was all she knew because after I said I was hung up on, they were chatting in Spanish. They asked ME if I spoke Spanish, and thank goodness I did. Not that you expect much from a 7-Eleven (aside from a good cycling team), but this one is particularly bad. As a customer, you can expect the usual service and usual fare for a 7-Eleven. They'll never discontinue slurpees, and the burritos are probably something you should avoid. Big surprise, huh? I appreciate the effort of the staff. They are generally pretty friendly, and do what they can to take care of the place. However, despite their efforts to keep it clean, there's always something screwy going on there, such as: -a murder-suicide that left one clerk and her boyfriend dead. -a man defecating in the middle of the line. -numerous drug deals going on in and around the store -a lot of police attention to the store (not a bad thing, though!) On top of it all, there are two other things that work against it: -it has a tiny parking lot -The parking lot is hard to get into and out of. You're better off walking to the store from somewhere down the street. That being said, give the staff some slack, because the rest of the world is either literally or metaphorically throwing excrement at them. read more

The clerks at the 7-Eleven are very rude and don't inform you of extra things being charged on your receipt. Question what was charged and the clerk got very upset and started being nasty towards me so I flipped him off. And threaten to call the cops on me because I was questioning the charges. Here is my story of why I will never go back to this 711. (This happened over a year ago but after talking to friends they said I should post my story up online, and I just got to it.) I was driving hungry/thirsty and thought this 711 would be convenient (I was wrong). I grabbed some food and a drink, the clerk asked me if I wanted my receipt and I said no. As I was leaving I saw one of my buddies walking across the street so I went over and talked to him for a little while. As I was standing there I saw a tow truck come up and start to set up behind my car and lifting it. I hadn't even finished eating! I ran up and asked him why he was towing my car. He told me "This is customer parking only, we got a complaint from the clerk. For 100 bucks I'll let it down." I showed him my food that I had just bought and he asked if I had a receipt... when I said no he responded "without a receipt there is nothing I can do". I ran into the store and told the clerk to let the tow truck guy that I was a customer, and the clerk just said "I don't remember you buying anything here". I ended up getting hustled and paying the tow truck driver 100 bucks to let my car down. The clerk in this store probably has some kind of deal set up with the towing company, and hustle paying customers out of their money. My advice is just avoid this crooked 711. read more
