I've been to this Goodwill a couple of times. There is ample parking, not always closest to the door, but you'll find something. What is now becoming a novelty at thrift stores are changing rooms, this location still has them. Wahoo!!!!! You can try the clothes on, such a treat. There are lots of clothes and housewares to look at. Most of the time I walk away with a purchase. Thrifting is a way of life for me, please keep the landfill down and upcycle. Very poor. No one was at the counter. I asked a sales person to help me because I had to catch the bus. She did not answer me. She just rolled her eyes and kept talking to her friend. I asked for help again and this time she flipped me off. I have been going to the location for over 10 years and have never been treated with such disrespect. Not much 'Good Will' at this location and if you want to experience unprofessional, ignorant and rude behavior to cheer you up on your Saturday morning, then this is the place to go. I had a small standalone (not built-in) fully working fridge to donate since we replaced it with a wine cooler. I checked the Goodwill website for SV since I know from previous dealings that there are some appliances they dont take (microwave ovens for example). The website made no mention of small standalone refrigerators at all so I called them and asked. A female assistant answered and said she would ask someone else, a few seconds later she said 'yes we can take' that. So I get the back of my truck ready, thoroughly clean the fridge load it in to my truck and take it to the SV Goodwill rear drop off area. I tell the guy there I have a small refrigerator to drop off, he disappears and comes back saying 'oh we dont take those'. I explained that I had already called and confirmed that they would accept it. Then some other guy comes out and says the same thing so I explain to him again. For some bizarre reason he points to the sign on the rear gate claiming that it states they dont take small fridges, I felt like saying "so why not put that on your website and make sure all the staff know that?" - as if I was supposed to read that sign from my house before I left??? So they agree to take it and then just to add insult to injury one of them says "ok well put it back here so you stop complaining about it" - really??? I laughed and then got the hell out of there. read more

I enjoy thrifting. I enjoy sifting through the racks. I enjoy the color coordination that happens in specific sections (very pleasing to my eyes). They're inside a plaza so parking is abundant. The store was relatively packed on a Monday, but not too bad. Some of the aisles are more popular than others so you may find people squeezing behind you or in front of you. I try my best to do some social distancing if possible. The cashier wasn't super communicative, but my goal was to get in, get out, so no complaints. read more

I was on my way home and found this goodwill. Plenty of parking. The place is very well organized and was very clean. They had some really good things in great condition. I was able to get a dressing room and try on some things. I read the reviews I don't know what people are looking for but these places run off donations so they need to be more realistic. TURN YOUR HEATER OFF!!! This store is a literal oven. No matter what time of day or year it is, this place has the heater cranked up and less than 5 minutes of being in this store makes me sweat buckets. I feel terrible for the employees that work here. This is straight up worker abuse. They have to have a fan at the register to try to counter this absurd decision. This store is in California, the weather is never cold enough to justify using a heater here. I've even talked to some of the workers here about this and they all agree with me. Upper management needs to let stores have control over their own temperature and not make these abused workers suffer more. read more

I went on 8/7/18. Dawn the cashier seemed to be having a bad day and was taking it out on the customers being rude and yelling out that the store was closing at 8 every 3 minutes or so. When I went to pay, my 11 year old son was with me and paying for a stuffed animal with his own money, she snatched the stuffed toy away from his hand to scan it and then snatched the money away from his hand. Dawn, being rude to adults is bad, being rude to kids is VERY VERY wrong, we adults set the example for them to follow in everything we do, you made his shopping experience a horrible one. I kept my cool because of him and asked him to forgive you for what you did... he did. Goodwill, please train your employees on how to treat customers, especially the little ones. read more

I occasionally find treasures here and the staff are generally helpful- I've never had to wait for more than a few minutes to check out and I've heard them be really patient with other customers more than once. My main hesitation when shopping here is that the other customers are usually rude, or possibly clueless about how to maneuver around people? Do you really need to park your cart directly in the middle of the aisle so no one cat get around you/shop the shelf you're scanning? And are you really just so hell bent on looking through the dresses right before I do to make sure I don't snag THE ONE? Trust me, lady, we're not looking for the same thing. This is somewhat normal for secondhand shops but I'll be damned if the folks of Scott's Valley don't take the cake for bad manners. read more

If I could rate a zero I would. This was by far the worst Goodwill I've ever been to. Most of the isles you couldn't go down cause they were piled full of stuff, everything thrown all over. I don't care that they charged me 25 cents for a bag, but I do care about how the guy checking me out just awkwardly watched me bag my items while he had his arms crossed and staring at me. This is a Covid review. I came here January 10th of this year and I have to say the the selection of stuff here is mediocre for my age group (18-24) but I do think they're workout clothing section was amazing! There weren't many employees here at the time, I honestly believe if somebody stole nobody would notice. Because of lack of employees, I noticed there was nobody there to clean the carts or baskets. Checking out was a little long because there was nobody in the front area to notice but they have a bell to ring when you're ready to check out. read more

A once great store has gone into the trash, driven by management greed. I'm a long time Goodwill customer, visiting several times each week to search for treasures and a deal on essentials. It used to be a great experience - plenty of good buys, with frequent treasures rewarding repeat visitors. Since they moved into their fancy new digs, it has all gone to crãp. I've been making almost daily visits and finding the worst quality crap. An employee told me there is no point in looking for my favorites (old LPs for me, Pokémon cards for my kids) because they now send anything that may possibly be considered "collectible" off to be sold on their online auction site. Pricing for what's left borders on the ludicrous...broken toys priced as if they were new. They offer tons of salvaged products from other retailers, with damaged packaging and often missing parts, and price them far higher than a new one would cost at, say, Target. And with the auction site plus rampant employee theft, fresh goods do not hit the shelves. It's really a shame - the local staff is friendly, but the store is totally useless and greed driven. They even ask customers to donate their change to support their "job programs" even though they've shut most of those programs down. (Hairdresser school, anyone?) GREED GREED GREED. This store should be shut down and senior management fired. So sad...it used to be a great place. read more

The place is well organized, neat and clean. The prices are high in comparison with other thrift stores in the area. However, the quality usually makes it worth the extra expense . I have shopped at this particular goodwill for years. Most of the time, I have had positive experiences. However, the last time was really upsetting. Immediately after I walked in the store , a female employee rushed toward me , and demanded that I part with my purse. She claimed it was over sized. I have walked through that store many times with the purse I was wearing yesterday. Before yesterday , I never had any problems. The employee just kept saying that company policy required me to part with my personal handbag and my reusable cloth bag. While I did find what I needed quickly, it was a pain to have to carry my purchases in my arms over to the lockers and then bag it myself. I offered to allow them to search my purse and my bag before and after my shopping visit. The employee responded with " I am not gonna play your game." She gave me the phone number for risk management. The guy who answered the phone was even more rude. After all this, they had the gall to ask me if I wanted to round up my purchase price to the next dollar to support goodwill training programs. Obviously customer service is not an area where their training is strong. Treating all your customers like potential thieves is not good business. read more

Every other time I have been there is with the same purse. Not going back and feel pretty disgusted. Sure way to get rid of customers. As a very frequent shopper of this goodwill, I am disappointed to say that I will no longer be giving this location my business. I had an extremely frustrating and disappointing experience with the store's manager. It began when I found a tank top that was priced at a whopping $21.99. While this price is absolutely absurd I still decided to buy the top because I liked it that much. I walked up to the register where I was told that the credit card machine was broken so only cash would be excepted. I had a $20 bill in my wallet and began to scrounge up loose change that would add up to $1.99. After taking the time to gather up quarters, dimes and pennies, I came up 2 cents short. The manager refused to take $21.97 as payment for the shirt, and actually had the audacity to solicit me for more money as I was digging through my wallet to find extra change to cover the ridiculous price of the item. I asked if they still offered a student discount, or if they had 2 cents laying around which was met with a cold "no." I ended up having to bother another customer for money as there was no alternative. I would also like to add that this individual appointed as a manager is lacking basic customer service skills. I never received any apology for their credit card machine being broken all she said was "Well its not my fault." It's super unfortunate that a business that I visit literally every single day is so greedy and rigidly unaccomadating even to their most loyal and regular customers. I have rounded up to the nearest dollar almost every time I have purchased something from the goodwill. It's a huge shame that the same basic generosity cannot be returned. If I was a few dollars short I would understand why they couldn't let it slide. But 2 cents, seriously?! read more

I love shopping at the goodwill. BUT this is the worst experience I've ever had at a good will. I've been shopping here my whole life and have never had an experience like this. The checker was so damn rude and made this whole time shopping with my mom very horrible. His check number was 7075. Good will isn't the cheapest thrift store around, but the overall prices average about the same. It seems the charge a lot for some things and very little for others depending on what they are, so I feel it evens out a bit. This one is nice, it's not "too small" like others have said, but it's not a blockbuster one either. It's clean, airy and uncrowded with a variety of usually good-quality items. The clothing is always in its place and the T-shirts are cheap cheap cheap! In fact, when they have them out for 3 for $1, I will look specifically for shirts for my friends and give them away as surprise gifts. The staff here is friendly and smile a lot, and at worst merely indifferent. The setup of the place is easy and straightforward and I really enjoy having a door in the back as well, because when you park there, it would be a pain to drag a piece of furniture all the way around the store. Being that this is the Scotts Valley goodwill, there can be rather high-quality items here if you get lucky. I have found a professional-grade juicer ($400 new) for $10, missing only one part that was $6 online. I have found canon digital cameras for $30 that worked perfectly, brand new T-shirts for 33¢, etc. The rich folks in SV tend to give away anything they feel is "too old" and it can really be a boon for those who want to find a good deal on something. Well worth at least a quick look. The parking is easy, and it's rarely crowded, as the aisles are large and accommodating. Viva la thrift! read more

He doesn't take donations even if the place is open. He is rude and acts like he doesn't want to be there. Can't you all hire someone who is more qualified !!! Went there on a Saturday and it didn't even look open! Not really my point. The woman working there (maybe the owner?) tried to rip off my friend by just looking at the 4 items she picked out and said, "Oh.. lets just call it $5." When there are clearly signs next to all the items she picked out saying everything was either 99 to 89 cents. I know it's only a dollar and some change difference, but that's the whole point of going to a Goodwill. It's cheap, good deals! However, when I asked her about it she flipped out and said, "OH MY GOD" and argued with me and had THE worst attitude! I'll start with the positives. Clean, organized store. Friendly staff. Now the negatives. I went in yesterday and kid you not they had a dresser priced at $349! For three seconds I thought I got lost and wasn't at a goodwill but next door at the furniture shop. Other items are priced too high as well. A ghost ornament made out wire that is 3" tall for $9??? Goodwill used to be the place you could afford to decorate your house for great prices or buy a purse for $5. I think those days are gone. I think some staff members are going on Ebay and pricing items from there. What a shame. read more

New store in Scotts Valley. It's been open about 2 months the address says Whispering Pines but it's in the Nob Hill shopping center off Mt Herman in the back and on the corner. Very friendly staff everyone greeted me and asked me how my day was going. Busy workers keeping all the clothing in order. There prices are comparable to other Goodwill stores but they have tag sales and will give you a calendar that lists the days and colors of the tag sales. I got a few things at 50 and 75 % off. The prices here are absolutely ridiculous. I ended up paying $9 for a small (partly) broken toy truck for my son (I didn't bother looking at the price when he picked it since I figured it couldn't be more than a couple of bucks) and I didn't want to break his heart by taking it away when I finally saw the price at the cashier. Found some decent sandals, looked at the price...26.99!! Really Goodwill?? I bought cheaper shoes for new when Payless was still around. I will seriously be cutting down how much I used to visit here. I can't believe the greed. As a somewhat regular at this location, I have really noticed ever since Jamie has been the manager, the store looks much nicer, and the overall appearance is better and cleaner. He constantly walks the store, handles all sorts of situations in a professional manner. It is a much nicer place to shop. read more

We asked the front desk to hold something up front while we checked one more thing in the store as the item was too big to carry around. They made us buy it and then go look at the other cabinets. When we were ready to leave and get our item, the lady was on the phone and Waac having casual conversation, nothing business related. Many other employee's made eye contact with me, me making it apparent we wanted to grab our item we had already purchased. No one helped us for 15 minutes. Pretty small little Goodwill in comparison to my neck of the woods, HOWEVER it is very clean, well organized, and the items are fairly priced. I am becoming more of a "thrifer" these days so there really isn't a "stigma" for me going in a Goodwill. This one had some great stoneware and OMG the cutest vans (just a half size too small dang it!). The staff were kind and helpful. I didn't feel overwhelmed there and it was just a nice experience. I would do 4 stars, but as I said it was small. When in town, I will definitely visit it again! read more

I just started shopping at this Goodwill location two months ago and it's now my favorite! Prices here are significantly lower than GW in San Jose, Sunnyvale and Palo Alto. And the selection is better too! Each Sunday, a new colored tag is featured at 50% off for that week. I have never seen that at any other GW regularly. Sometimes you see 25% off, but that's about it. Needless to say, the inventory here turns over very quickly. I generally find the best items in housewares, but I recently found a Comptoir des Contonniers blazer and Cache dress for $4 each! Both in excellent condition. On my last trip two days ago, I picked up a set of six Schott Zwiesel wine glasses for $8 total. Those retail for $60/set! I also have built up a set of ten Duralex mixing bowls for about $1 each - can't beat that unless it's free. Whether you are broke or just want to add to your kitchen arsenal without breaking the bank, visit this store! Despite the numerous negative reviews and low ratings, I have always received really good customer service here. The cashiers are friendly and have accommodated me when I request newspaper to wrap glassware or a box to transport my items. Pop on into the store the next time you go to see a movie! read more

From a brand new pair of ladies boots with tags still on them, to 100% leather fashion jackets from BeBe. Talbots's, Free People, etc,. The men's selection isn't light but focus on women's. Lately they have done away with marking down items with certain color tags. So now you can't really even find a bargain here. From the outside the place looked closes which was really odd. I walk in and I was really confused. They literally took everything out of the store and placed only Christmas items for sale. I get that it's the holidays and don't get me wrong their holiday items were nice and what not but ONLY Christmas items ? They did have a few furniture items on the side as well.
