I went around 2:50 pm on October 21, 2022 and i found what i needed. I left the store about 3 pm and i noticed there was a car parked with a dog inside right in front of the store. I decide to stay with the dog until the owners come back.... 15 minutes pass by and they weren't out yet. I went into the store and spoke to Anna, one of the managers, about the situation. I tried to explain to her that as someone who works in customer service, it is advised to make announcements in these situations. She made the ugliest face to me, and said "are the car windows open?" I said yes, and then she immediately told me not to worry about it, the dog is fine, and that it's not even hot outside and I must be cold since i am wearing a jacket. Keep in mind: It was 83°F outside. Leaving the window open doesn't change make a huge difference. Statistically, the temperature inside the car increases by 19°F in 10 minutes, and then 29°F after 20 minutes. Leaving the window open only decreases the temperature by 2°F (this is all according to preventivet; I can do my own academic research and find the same results). Also, I don't need to explain why I wear a jacket even on hot days. I wasn't cold, but I am human and can take off a jacket and cool myself off because I am CAPABLE of making that decision, dogs aren't. Anyway, Anna basically told me to leave the store and not worry. As for the owners in the parking lot... they came back around 3:35 and said their dog was fine. Yeah idk your dog was panting very loudly when y'all came back. Moral of the story is, the manager is completely unprofessional, rude, lacks customer service and is just overall not fit to be a store manager. You should be able to handle these situations and not just push them under a rug. I don't care if you just work for a discount store, it immediately becomes your business when a concerned customer is seeking your help. How come my last managers at thrift stores were more caring in these situations, but Anna wasn't? Because she doesn't care it seems like. As for the owners, shame on you and I hope you realize you have an amazing, loyal dog who will protect you even when you leave them in a car that's over 105°F inside. Disgusting.

Please Read Before Accepting Black Box Prize Gift Cards at Bargain Depot on Goliad Road…read more (San Antonio Shoppers) I want to share my recent experience so no one else runs into the same problem. Nov 14, 2025, I won a $50 Google Play gift card at Bargain Depot, but had to pay $6 because the card came in a "$6 day" black box. I gave it to my son as a birthday gift. When he tried to redeem it, he found out from Google Play that the card was never activated at the store. Gift card activation is something only the store can do at the register. I went back today, Dec 11, 2025, with the physical card in perfect condition. Instead of helping, I was told: "Too much time passed." "We can't do anything about the card." "No one else has had this issue, only you." "We don't know what you did with the card." Not only did they refuse to activate the card or refund the $6 fee, they shifted the blame onto me -- even though activation is 100% the store's responsibility. The card is unexpired, unused, and clearly not activated. The store has complete transactional documentation and photos. Just a warning for others: If you receive or "win" any gift card in a Bargain Depot black box, make sure the store activates it before you leave. If there's an issue later, you may not receive any help from them. Sharing this so others can avoid the same frustration.

I guess it's supposed to be a value store, but there were quite a few items priced around $10, which I'm guessing is a result of the pandemic's inflation. I can find a lot of the same items for cheaper at a dollar store, but this place does have a good selection. There is also name brand makeup, and the art supplies actually seem okay for school aged kids. The coolers are next to the registers, so you'd better plan to get your drink quickly before a cashier calls you forward. Overall, not a fan, but they did have a sketchbook my daughter wanted. Mission accomplished. Update: September 2, 2024 I came back because I am traveling and I did need a couple of items before leaving again. I SO wanted to give this another star because I felt I wasn't being fair yesterday since it is Labor Day Weekend. The store was so much cleaner today and didn't feel so chaotic. The service itself is also great. What's not great is all the junk food and pointless items, but the reason I'm keeping this review as a solid 3 star is because of the signage. Over the toys is a sign that reads "WANT = NEED". I don't know what this company is thinking but most people in America are pretty broke at the moment, and toys are NOT needs. That bugs me so much, and I can't give this a better rating in good conscience. Also, the higher priced items aren't all marked. I figured the cat backpacks would be around $10 but I couldn't find price tags for any of them. Kind of disappointed tbh.

I wish more stores would train employees to be this kind to their customers. Thank you I will be back at this location. Thank you for reading.
