Better late than never for this review. 3/10/22 I purchased 3 bags of "Portside Raw Shrimp 40-60…read morecount" that was listed on sale, typed on a blue 8x11(?) sized sheet for $6.49. I wasn't feeling well so I didn't pay attention to what it actually rung up. I just knew it seemed kind of high. When I arrived home, I saw I was charged regular price of $7.99. I immediately called and told what happened. Because I wasn't feeling well, she said I could return it on Saturday if I still wasn't feeling well the next day which was a Friday. When I did arrive that Saturday, the young lady knew me by my beginning statement of why I was there. Well, long story short the manager there, a male, not only did he say what I said wasn't true but he acted as though I was an annoyance. He also walked away from me, while I was speaking, still stating proof of what was displayed on that day. I went home, got the shrimp and returned it as I told him I would. I then called and reported the incident to corporate. Now, I've spent more money on cooked and raw shrimp; that's nothing new to me. This was the principle of the matter. You know something, I went to Walmart that day and found the same amount of shrimp for $6.59. Awesome! My mom still received the dinner I wanted to make for her. I'll also add that, whether Save-a-lot cares or not, they've lost my business, my mom's and 2 of my neighbors' after I told them what happened. My neighbors said they've had issues with them in the past. I'll also tell others. It's only because of this guy that I refuse to return, which is a shame because I like the convenience of shopping there when it's right on my work to and from work and close to home when I just need to get something. Thanks for reading my review.

I really wanted to love this place, especially with its claim of being the "world's biggest." While…read moreit's certainly packed with an incredible array of items, that density actually makes for a frustrating shopping experience. The aisles are so crammed that it's impossible to navigate with a shopping cart, which really limits your ability to browse and buy. It's a shame because there were genuinely interesting items, from high-priced antiques to thrift-store finds, but the difficulty in moving around made it hard to truly appreciate them. After driving over an hour and 15 minutes to get there, leaving empty-handed was quite a letdown. While I appreciate that they at least had a bathroom, which allowed me to stay as long as I did, the overall hassle overshadowed any enjoyment. I'm not sure if I'll make the trek again for a second chance. I had high hopes, but ultimately, this place just didn't live up to them. Still worth a try. I did find that the employees just sat around on their phones so I couldn't get a feel of who they are. One actually scolded me for trying to pick up and item

There's a large selection of books, most 3.00 and under, mass market paperbacks 50 cents, and periodically there are good old ones from the 50s or 60s. Some items are cheap. Some are costly. They also sell the very high priced stuff online, but there's still plenty of great stuff in the store itself. The bathrooms are old but super clean and not creepy like in some places. There are real antiques, beautiful furniture, art works, plastic storage tubs, all kinds of glassware, figurines, etc. Don't listen to the complainers. I go whenever I can and almost always find something I want.

I'm only reviewing the Portraits service of JC Penney's at this location…read more We had scheduled our appointment for Aidan's first birthday portrait (and xmas picture) about a month in advance of the day (11/22/08). We scheduled it online and received a very nice email that told us all of the things to remember prior to coming for portraits. This included bringing toys and changes of clothes so that you can have several shots. We arrived about 20 minutes early to a crazy group of people just milling around this tiny section of the store. We checked in and they asked us to have a seat. I listened to the people at the counter and found out they were over 20 minutes behind. This isn't something you want to hear when you have an 11.5 month old who is fidgety to begin with. They were pumping people in and out of the photo room (they only have one) in 10-12 minutes. I have to say that the women who take the pictures do a GREAT job of getting the kids to smile. We watched several groups and it was amazing that they got so many kids to look good. After the pictures are taken, you then wait another 10-15 minutes for them to digitally download and for a sales person to then take you through all the shots and the "specials". JC Penney's does a great job of issuing coupons for sets of prints that will cost anywhere from $7.99 - $9.99 but let's face it, you normally don't get out of these situations for under $100. The shots of our little guy were very good and I was impressed. Our sales person wasn't impressive but knew her stuff and tried to get us to spend more. I'm confident the shots will come out wonderful, but beware that they try to sell you on the "photo club" thing which gives you free sittings for two years and some other bennies.

Your review helps others learn about great local businesses…read more I have been doing business with them for 2 years now. They could'nt be nicer. Great Items Great prices. Meeting and evaluation of my fathers house and property were pretty straight forward. They said…read moreall the right things and checked all the boxes my siblings and I were looking for. Myself and my son did a LOT of organizing, cleaning, moving furniture. Communication once we hired the company was so so at best. A lot of things were "let me check and get back to you", which ended up with me having to reach out again to follow up. I walked thru my dads house and garage the day before the sale and saw how they priced everything. My dad lives very rural, in the middle of the country so we did not expect a huge turnout but there were people in line waiting with a constant flow of people both days. Day 1 is suppose to be full price as listed yet several of my friends went to the sale and were ready to pay the full price listed and only ended up paying 1/3. Seems like they were wheeling and dealing on day 1. Which we did NOT agree to. WHAT?? On day 1 you asked $20 for something listed as $60? My dads riding lawn mower was priced at $1400. It didnt sell the first day so I knew it would go for $700 on the 2nd day. When we got our itemized list of what sold we saw that the lawn mower sold for only $300!! a 12 piece oak amish dining room set sold for $100, that was a 1/8 of what it was listed at. We paid $1500 for their "fee" and a 65/35 split. Then told that we didnt have to pay thr $1500, that the fee was asked for if the home was determined that it would bring in a profit. When we received the check and itemized list the $1500 was taken out of the profits and the remainder was done at the split. We ended up after all the work and back and forth with $400. a full 3 bedroom home! The itemized list left out A LOT of pieces that were no longer in my fathers home but were not on the list as sold. I asked if anything was going to be taken for consignment at their store and was told no, so not sure where these items went. My father lived very simply so we were not expecting a huge result but really felt we were taken advantage of and it was a HUGE waste of time. I put in a lot of man hours and had I know I would have either A. let them do all the work or B. Did the work and held the sale myself! NOTE-I have been told by multiple people who frequent their sales and many others, as well as people who have hired them in the past, that they will have their regulars (*who resell) come and give them the deals on items. I cannot confirm this but hearing it from many different people gives me pause.
