This is a really nice area, but I can't give it 5 stars because there just isn't much here…read more Shoppes at River City is just an extension of River City Marketplace. If it weren't for the tiny little sign that's barely noticeable (I didn't even notice it until I specifically started looking for it) then you'd just think this area was River City Marketplace. Technically, it is. Jimmy John's is what stands out in this little plaza and is what gets the most business. The only other things you'll find here is a nail salon, an insurance place, a local jeweler, and a State Farm agency. There are probably a couple of other small businesses here, but I can't recall. The parking lot is nice and there are plenty of parking spaces. The grounds are well-manicured. It seems as though they are extending Shoppes at River City across the street where they are building the new Hobby Lobby (which should be opening pretty soon). I noticed a "Shoppes at River City" sign next to the Hobby Lobby "Coming Soon" sign. Kinda odd they would extend it across the street.... or maybe when all is said and done it will officially be called "Part II." Who knows....

My sister-in-law was lining up to pay at a register which she didn't know or wasn't sure if this particular cashier/register was closed as he was still attending to one customer ahead of her. So she asked if he was still open. He responded with I am and was typing something away and then in the filipino language remarked," Ang kulit nito." Which in English translates to, "This one's annoying." Unbeknownst to him, my sister-in-law is also Filipino. So she told him she understood what he said and that it was poor customer service on his part and that all he could've said is he's open or closed and she could've moved on but he was being very rude. And he continued to ask my sister-in-law if she knew her mother which was said in a tone as if to threaten her. She then reported him to a so-called floor manager on duty who clearly wasn't interested and she left furios and called again today to report it. We are going back to this Hobby Lobby to file a formal complaint regarding this behavior by this particular employee who thinks name calling in his own native language, who we happen to also speak, is normal behavior for a Hobby Lobby representative. Shame on him and shame on this branch if they don't do something about his behavior. From name calling to threatening customers by who his mother is/was or whathaveyou. There more likely is only one Filipino cashier there or employee who does the register as well.

I had an issue with a package of chicken that I no longer felt comfortable purchasing since the wrap was pretty loose. When I politely approached the cashier to explain, she was hostile right away, interrupted me and had an unnecessarily confrontational attitude. I even offered to return the item since I have just grabbed it, but she insisted on donating it instead, making the entire confrontation pointless. Donations = item that CANNOT be sold. Why was I pressured by this cashier to purchase a donation-worthy item? She also mishandled my groceries, placing heavy items on top of my breads and and even worse throwing my items onto the other side of the belt with another customer's groceries, even the other customer was shocked and had to explain that those items weren't hers. Mind you just one more customer behind me, it wasn't a packed day. Also, I was never greeted or acknowledged by this person, as I said I worked at Aldi and I know what kind of customer service the company expects. She couldn't even do the bare minimum. I remained polite and avoided confrontation but I left the store very upset, all I wanted was to buy groceries, my bad. Never coming back again.
