We came here recently because we needed to pick up some essentials. The store had ample parking, but it was crowded when we were there. The store had a few shopping carts and basket. It was well light and spacious. I like that the dollar tree was stocked with stuff. The one near me always have empty shelves. I found a few goodies that were nicely priced. The cashier was nice but there was only one working. The lines are long and took a while to checkout. read more

Second time I've watched the manager be rude to her employees. I feel bad hearing the way she speaks to her employees. I came here one time to pick up some stuff, I am shocked to see how everything was $1.25. This store is the best and I always pick up my go-to food here I usually get from the supermarket which costs extra. I always get some chips and Texas toast here which were so good. Dollar Tree is now $1.25 Tree. Cheap stuff at cheap prices. A great source for Greeting cards, balloons and holiday decorations. I have never had a bad experience with the staff at Dollar Tree. However, I have had problems with other customers. People picking up items and then leaving them on a shelf 3 aisles away when they change their mind. And People insisting that an employee should leave a merchandise cart full of product they are shelving to walk the customer to a requested item. A little courtesy goes a long way on both sides of the register. If shoppers were a little more considerate the employees would not dread dealing with them for such low wages ‍ I will continue shopping Dollar Tree and continue to respect the store and the staff. Honestly, I did not want to write this. I had gone on the Dollar Tree Website to find a way to email my comments, but they have no mechanism. This is in regards to the Dollar Tree on N.Broadway in Hiscksville. Now, I know that you "pay for what you get" and I realize that the staff and management are working a thankless low paying job that many people do not even want to do. However, it is the principle of the matter: The place is terribly run! The manager is disgusting, loud, unprofessional, they have a line going all the way back in the store because they only open up one or two registers. They have staff hiding in the office, or working in the back stocking shelves while the line wraps around the store. The bathroom is disgusting and representative of the way they treat customerfs. Many cashiers scowl, talk to customers like they are dogs, reprimand them if they put the hand basket below the conveyor belt where it belongs. I go there because it is convenient but it is a low grade operation run by trash. And I am starting to guess that the whole dollar tree operation must be trash if they allow this rogue store to go on the way it is. The staff there were so rude and racist. They didn't even help me with balloons that I was choosing for my niece's birthday. The old lady with the glasses at register 1 was very loud and rude indeed, didn't let me pick out a balloon from the drawer and she was racist to my grandfather who has high blood pressure. Let me also add that it is disgusting, I saw two rats one time running around and roaches. Very deplorable. One of the cashier with a short bob exposed her behind. Generally I like Dollar Tree stores, where you can get some excellent quality items such as soap and hand sanitizer for $1, but this Hicksville location is absolutely terrible. When the store first opened it was neat, but now I have to say its one of the worst Dollar Tree stores I've been too, even worse than the one on Stewart Ave in East Garden City. On my most recent trip today the store was a complete mess, shelves in dissarray, items on the floor, stains on the carpet. It took me 10 minutes just to find what I was looking for because the items were scattered all over. The employees dont seem to care about the mess. I know this store is located in a rapidly declining neighborhood, but they should at least make an effort to keep it clean, but they dont even care. This will be the last time I set foot in that store. You're better off going to the one in Levittown which is much better. read more

For an example when it's Easter I wanted to buy a pencil case and it never had it it only have those at back to school witch I don't like sometimes. There are not a lot of new or good things it's mostly the same things. My friend told me that its always the same things. It's a little chance to have something new. This DG in Hicksville is pretty much the same as all the other DG's....they are cookie cutter copies and the mix of products is good. It's a dollar store. They sell cheap crap. Some stuff is garbage, some of it is useful. The best thing I've found there are the solar lights they sell for a dollar. This store is great! They have so many different things! Some great! Some junky! There's something for everyone. My granddaughter, Sydney, loves makeup. I buy her lots of makeup from here, since each product is only $1. My grandson loves Pokémon cards. However, on the day that we visited, the store ran out of them. At times, the Dollar Tree can be a bit dusty. You never know who you're gonna find here, but that's the magic of it. There are some interesting folks here! The staff is friendly and attentive. I'm always amazed that I'll go their for one or two items on my list and find other items that I need or my wife needed. First let me start by saying that I've been in the $.99/dollar/discount business for 18 years so I know little bit what I'm talking about... The staff there as with many dollar stores, is a little bit low class... But it is what it is, last week I bought three Valentine's Day cards and a bunch of other stuff it was a total of about 18 bucks maybe, when I got to the register she stuff everything in one plastic bag, and it was the assistant manager by the way, so she should've known better... When she was done I specifically asked her if everything was in this one bag and she said yes, when I got home I realized the Valentine's Day cards weren't there, I called and spoke to the manager's name was Keith, he told me okay come get your cards, I said a little bit aggravated, but you know I specifically asked her and now I have to drive all the way back... (It's about 10 minutes away) anyway I didn't get to go back that day, I thought went back to days later, the day after Valentine's Day, and they said okay here are your cards, when I reiterated what had happened to them they directed me to Keith, the manager, who said no I'm not gonna do anything for you, quite angrily and confrontational he and adamantly too I might add, I couldn't believe it! And right van is when I remembered that several months before I had bought a pair of socks from there also, had had a problem with them, they got a hole in them the first time I wore them and when I spoke to him about it he said no I'm not going to do anything for you, same thing, I've never seen anybody provide worst customer service then this guy Keith, the manager, and the total of both of these problems was a total of $2.16, even though I'm a regular customer wouldn't budge to keep his customer happy-Ipathetic! read more

I have been to about 30 different Dollar Tree sites in my travels across the region & the country, so I have some comparisons. When this was about the only one, it was great. It is now so far from great that I won't shop here anymore. Example: on New Year's Day I dashed in to pick up a few things. Ringing throughout the entire store was a staff conversation about how rude customers are when they show up as the store is closing. One of the women gleefully told a story, applauded by her colleague, of a 3rd employee (not there at the time), who yelled at people trying to shop as the store was being closed on New Year's Eve. "She said, 'Go away! We're closing! We have families, too!'" The colleague complained, just as loudly. "You know what bothers me? They're only coming in for one thing! One Thing! I mean, go away, you know?" There were about 3 people on line, being forced to listen to these things. The cashier was also incredibly rude about making change. I gave her cash in such a way that she would just need to give me back a quarter, thinking I was making it easy on her. She literally sucked her teeth. I said, "If it's a problem --" She told me, "No, it's not a problem, but why should I give my quarters away when I don't need to?" Just ... wow. I actually took notes on this because I was going to write to the manager. But, I've been in customer service for 30 years & know that staff that stinks stinks because managers don't care. You can write all the letters you want & nothing will change because mangers don't care to MAKE it change. Save yourself & find another discount store to shop in. read more

This store is very unorganized and very poorly run. The merchandise was scattered all over the floor and to make matters worse there are no baskets available for you to put the merchandise in. I spoke to the manager of the store she told me she's been trying for weeks to get them to send the store shopping baskets I also called the corporate office which is very hard to get a hold of because they always put you on hold. Do not shop here! The assistant manager, Rita, is not only rude and lacks any semblance of customer service abilities - but also makes up her own rules and policies. This evening I went in to exchange some items. She wouldn't allow me to do so, as she said I couldn't purchase the replacement items for someone else! Huh? Who is she to say whom I may purchase for? When I wouldn't budge on her shinnanigans, she proceeded to call the cops! Are you kidding me? She doesn't abide by the company policy of allowing items to be exchanged, and then this is how she treats her customers? Well, I waited for the cops to arrive, and she still dug her heels in. At one point, the officer asked if there was any way we were going to come to agreement tonight to which her responses was that I "used a big mouth to get my way so she wasn't going to let me". Again, I am dumbfounded at her absolute stupidity and making up her own policies. I must state that I never even raised my voice to her - just insisted on an exchange (I even had a receipt) as the company policy states, and refused to leave until I was able to process that exchange. In hind site, when the officer was unsuccessful in getting her to see the light, I wish I had pressed charges against her for discrimination. Maybe that would teach her to not waste our officers' precious time with her inability to do the job she was hired to do. If anyone at a regional or corporate level reads this stuff, please do your customers a favor and fire Rita! I am going to try to take this issue up the corporate ladder to try to see where it goes. This store is always a disaster. Things are just thrown everywhere and there's always products and garbage laying on the floor. There is always only one register open and an extremely long line. You end up waiting on line for 20 minutes at least. The workers always are slow and not very pleasant. Just goes to show the type of store and employees that you get when every employee is paid minimum wage and everything costs $1. The employees just don't care and there are new employees every time because clearly nobody wants to deal with the shitshow going on there for more than a few weeks. Corporate should be ashamed of the appearance of these stores. They also don't let you return anything for cash back; only store credit exchanges, which is absolute bullshit for the quality of products sold. The products are cheap in price and cheaply made. I made a stop at this location with my infant son after visiting pet store adjacent to the dollar tree at which time I had him strapped into the pet store cart. I didn't make it two feet in the store before an employee in a very abrupt manner made me aware I was using the pet store cart. Ok I said, to which he again in a curt condescending manner pointed at the dollar tree carts and said "those carts there are to be used". Sorry man I think I'll just shop someplace else. I'm really not sure what the issue was of me using another cart to fill with your merchandise but I assure you I won't be going back. I'm sure there is some litigious reason for not allowing the cart in the store, which I will hold the lawyers responsible for, but that's a whole different story.
