Nobody was at the counter when we arrived, so we waited and after less then a minute the worker came out from the back and looked at me and the other 2 customers, and then stood behind the counter and kinda just stared off into space. After about 30 seconds of everyone being ignored, I put my other purchases away and left.

Above and beyond for sure. I did get their Tandoori Lemon Chicken from the deli which I have not seen in any other Save On Foods stores. And, it was so yummy. A little spicy I think for some people but everyone in my family loved it. And, deli sandwiches had a good deal - their gourmet sandwich/chips and a pop... and the sandwiches were so different and fun to try. So, yes the food is great and service well worth it. I definitely know why I shop at Save On - maybe just not on the first Tuesday of the month around 2:00 in the afternoon?!?! Why you ask? Because, as I said when I went it was the first Tuesday of the month. And, when I entered the store I didn't notice it but the line up for the cashiers was CRAZY. Now, I'm sure you are reading this and thinking she means Costco long lines. NO. I mean literally around the store, they needed a person directing traffic CRAZY. I was in line for 25 minutes before I was even directed in a cashier line up. And, then the person didn't know how to ring in the deli deal I had - not only was the person line behind me annoyed, I was beyond annoyed. Yes, I saved, because thankfully I did have a Save-on More savings card (can you imagine going through all that and not having one?), but was it worth it??? I honestly don't know? How much is your time worth? I will have to check it out again and let you know....

There's a lot of parking and the carts did not require coins (quarters) to use. COViD protocols are followed here and there was a person there to wipe down my cart before using. I wasn't sure what to expect cuz google reviews referred to it as a desi store, and their store opening neighbourhood mail out noted it was a south Asian grocer. I was pleasantly surprised that there's a ton of variety here catering to all sorts of Asian groceries as well as western groceries. The building is brightly lit and the produce is plentiful, fresh, lots of different kinds (including Asian veggies) and affordable (I saw no bruising or wilting on the fruits and veggies either). I'd say a large majority of the store caters to East Indians which suits the demographic here, but there was also lots of foods that specifically target Filipino, Korean, Chinese, etc. that would usually be found by going to multiple specialty shops...I'm glad it's like a one stop shop! There were a lot of discounted goods too and some even have stickers with additional savings at checkout; $5 fully decorated fudge cake?... Um yes please!! Honestly, I walked in for fruit and came out an hour later like a bandit! There's even some interesting flavours like fruit HP sauce, or masala smoked chicken deli meat. I am also impressed they sell a good variety of meat skewers and halal meat. They also sell reusable grocery bags if you forget your own, or you can ask for a box which is free. You can also opt to donate $10 for a mystery grocery food bag to be donated to the less fortunate fortunate. I'm pretty pumped that this place is so close to home, it might even become my new regular grocery store since there's so many new things I want to come back to try and add to the weekly family meal plan.

There is a Sobey's one down the road but the prices can't compare. The only downside to this one is that they don't have cold beer. If you want that you have to go to Sobey's. It's slowly getting more attention as people are learning that it is open. I would think it could put the Sobey's liqour store out of business eventually. The Superstore will probably put the Sobey's out of business too.

There's a second level that's wheelchair/stroller accessible with a lounge overlooking the store and this location has a community room that you can book events or register for their culinary classes. Second level also has a walk in clinic for family medicine/general practitioner. Washrooms are on both levels too. I haven't been tried at other locations, but this one gives a free chocolate chip cookie to your kid at the bakery (great distraction so I can do more grocery shopping while they snack). Stock can be hit or miss (out of stock items or not the best looking produce), but I like the fact that they do flyer comparisons themselves and price match so that I don't have to. It's usually organized whenever I shop here and I don't usually need to ask staff for help. Checkout time is alright and the self checkout staff are quick enough to be assisting before I flag them for help. I wish their drugstore cosmetics section would improve as it pales in comparison to the south common location. I've had no issues using their click n collect services either as they will confirm any substitutions if they're out of stock on something.
