So if you want to have some good tacos, churros, crepés, chicharrones you need to visit this place. For tacos i go to Taqueria Allende , for crepés Mike's Ice Cream, chicharrones I don't know the name but you will see them in the entrance, for churros. If you decide to go let me know what you think.

The taco food trucks are authentic, cheap and amazing quality - similar to what I had in LA and Mexico City. The churros were a bit disappointing - over-fried and dry and they only had the caramel-filled ones as a option when I went. Typically they also have other filling options and there's also plenty of stalls selling veggies, elotes, and random stuff you would expect at a flea market. Most people speak only Spanish there, so either brush up on your Spanish or find someone to translate if you can :)

It's fucking Roses! I can't believe they're still in business. I stumbled across this antiquity…read morefrom the Roman era. There were no gladiators or similar around, but this discount store has been around so loooooong! It's a little messy and you'll have to dig, but there are deals to be found.

I have shopped at this store for more than 30 years. I have never seen it be such a complete mess…read moreas it is now. The plus size department has increased in size to the point the Misses size area is slim to none. The last 3 times I have been in the store there is a large size lady with extremely short gray hair I can only assume this is the department she takes care of? She and another younger dirty blond hair woman were literally taking rack after rack of the Missy size clothes I was trying to weed my through and shoving them in the midst of the plus size clothing. I questioned her as to why does the store do this? She was extremely rude and told me I needed to move she had a job to do. I went to the customer service counter to complain about her attitude and inquire why is it you can't hardly locate the Misses clothed and the employee is always seen back their shoving rack fulls of them all up into those plus clothes then the Africa American female at the customer service counter was rude as any person can be and said to me " do you own this store"? I stated excuse me. She said to me " exactly " you can go down the road somewhere. I have even seen the large white woman in the dressing room apparently I assumed she was asleep in the thing I tried the Handel to see if it was unlocked sometimes thank God they are and she was up in it asleep instead of doing her job. I also went to complain about that as well and again was met by that same African America woman who was again ignoring me while I witnessed her absolutely chewing out another white employee and she was then told literally in front of me that she was No Manager and had no right to speak to employees or any one in the manner that she does. What's wrong in this store mow that literally general management does not immediately fire sleeping in the job employees . Employees that run a department and yet it stays an utter wreck. And that offensive African American woman who insults your customers and now witnessed the same over a week ago with her doing it to another employee and witnessed what appeared to be possibly a Manger or supervisor telling that lady straight up to stop harassing employees? I'm emailing the corporate office regarding it. I don't think it's right to a customer to have to be spoken too in that manner or to witness that woman sleeping in a dressing room and deliberately it seems just slamming clothes all over the place in the back instead of doing her job. ..Shame on you Roses. You need to very apparently be rid of some of those workers who have been their too long and think they own the place....very disappointed highly upset and fully intend to report the general manager of this store to corporate.

Brightleaf Square is a quaint retail development located in the center of the Brightleaf…read moreneighborhood in downtown Durham. I'd call it a "shopping center," but it's not like a typical suburban shopping center. The development consists of two repurposed brick warehouses, originally built in 1904, that used to store bright leaf tobacco (that's where the name comes from). So, Brightleaf Square looks and feels historic, and that's what makes it charming. That said, the development is kind of small and there's not that much here. If you want to walk across the street to, say, Rose's or Jeni's, then yes, the neighborhood (also known as the Brightleaf District) has more to offer. I highly recommend Rose's, by the way, for their ramen and ice cream sandwiches. Strictly speaking, within the square, Emmy Squared Pizza is terrific for their Detroit-style pizza. It's among the best deep-dish pizza anywhere, in my opinion. There's also Clouds Brewing, which is a craft brewery and restaurant. Other businesses are local/boutique shops, such as Bull City Art & Frame Company and Mill & Meadow Stationery Shop, and private offices. The brick/stone walkway, old-fashioned lamp posts, string lights, trees, benches, and early-1900s buildings can make for a fun, whimsical stroll with friends and family before or after lunch or dinner. It's also a good date spot, especially if you incorporate the larger neighborhood (e.g., pizza at Emmy Squared followed by ice cream sandwiches at Rose's). For parking, I suggest parking in the surface lot at the corner of W Main St and S Gregson St. You can enter the lot from either of those streets. Pay attention to signs as you may have to pay during certain days and times. Fun fact: Durham's infamous "Can Opener Bridge" is located on the south end of Brightleaf Square. If you don't know what I'm talking about, check out the bridge's Wikipedia page here: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Norfolk_Southern%E2%80%93Gregson_Street_Overpass Also, watch some of the videos on this YouTube channel to see the Can Opener in action: https://www.youtube.com/@11foot8plus8 The camera that captures those videos is mounted on one of the buildings at Brightleaf Square.

Hopefully they add better restaurants and more variety of boutiques here because the square is not living up to its potential. Basically, I'd skip this and head over to ATC.
