Wow, the overall rating of 2 1/2 stars is spot on. That's exactly how I feel about this location. My memories of this store were very positive, but that's not the case at this particular time. I started to round up because honestly, you can't be too hard on a dollar store where everything is actually a dollar. I only decided to round down instead when I realized I won't actually be back. I'll stick to the University location. Since I factor in return rate, I had to be honest. What's good? What they offer for a dollar! Dollar Tree is an awesome place to get cleaning supplies, party favors and decorations, stationary, activities, pet grooming products, replacement kitchenware, etc. You can even get balloons filled. The chain in general is great! What do you have to put up with here? Being held hostage in a maze! We stopped by last weekend to get some light bulbs and bathroom cleaner- something we expected to take 5 minutes tops, but took more than 30 minutes. The layout in not intuitive at all, which took me a while to figure out since they all start with party supplies to the right of the entrance. I actually had a difficult time making sense of a couple of aisles. That was assuming I could get to an aisle, there were boxes everywhere! Seriously, everywhere! They were blocking access to some aisles and they were left in the middle of others, creating a tripping hazard- that's unacceptable. When we arrived there were zero baskets or carts available, they clearly need more to keep up with their traffic. We had to juggle the light bulbs and I would have preferred them to be safe in a hand basket. In addition to the disorganized, slovenly mess of boxes, I witnessed someone who appeared to be a manager on the floor, yelling at someone on the phone. That was uncomfortable. The staff is extremely slow, which struck me as more of a morale problem than a training problem. The lines are extremely long and when they open a new lane, they don't announce it or turn on a light, so people start getting irritated when someone saunters to the front of a new line. It's the sort of situation that either holds you hostage or forces you to abandon your items. The poor couple in front of us had 2 small items in their hand and they had been in line well before we got there. Our cashier scanned items so slowly I had to avert my eyes to keep from telling her how to do her job. I am not *that* customer, but the 4 second pauses between each scan almost pushed me to be. It didn't help that she stared blankly at us and mumbled through the transaction- yikes! Bottom line- you'll find some great stuff for cheap if you can put up with the time suck and safety hazards.

    I'm a happy camper !

It is very heavily shopped, and they still have a good selection. Nice place. It was clean and I was able to find everything I wanted.

Love this place. Some great deals and some ok deals. They have a vast selection so you have to make…read moresure you look very closely.

Last month we were driving around and were shocked to see an Ollie's sign off the highway! We first…read morediscovered Ollie's in College Station and we are fans, so I'm glad they had the big sign off the highway or I may not have discovered they took over the Dirt Cheap location at the end of September. This isn't the kind of discount store where they have regular inventory they order. They carry things that didn't sell at other businesses, so they don't even know what they will have until it arrives. That being said it's pretty organized for the square footage they have. Their business model also means that you are getting discounts off the original prices, so you may see the same type of product range from very cheap to an average amount, but for a more expensive brand. If you are loyal to certain brands you may not find them here on one visit and then 2 weeks later they have a surplus, you have to physically go to the store to see what they have. It's not ideal for someone who is out of a bunch of stuff and needs things right away, but for those of you who always shop the sales and stock up, this is right up your alley! While what's offered will vary greatly I do notice that there is always a dry food section, a toiletry section, pet beds, cleaning supplies and bedding/towels. It also seems like Ollie's usually carries flooring materials and area rugs in the back. They typically always have a section of books and journals and at least one or two aisles of toys. The rest of it will change up regularly. For example, I saw an entire aisle of school supplies, which I don't recall noticing at other locations on other visits, but man, a great opportunity to get the jump on some of next year's school supplies for super cheap. They had multiple aisles of cookware and small appliances. The ones I looked at seemed like a great deal, but I had no need to purchase any. We saw a ton of Coleman products on that visit including grills of various sizes starting at $30 and King size blankets for $20 and entire comforter sets for $40. This would probably be my go to if I needed extra blankets for a guest or a new pet bed as they always have that stuff in a huge selection. We saw big boxes of coffee and hot coca pods for $10 and a big selection of spices on this visit as well. We didn't stop in looking for anything in particular but found some good deals for things we've been meaning to replace or purchase extra of. I got some cozy slippers for $8, a new pillow for $5 and several King size blankets. I was looking for King size sheets, but on that particular visit they didn't have anything larger than a Queen, but they very well may on my next one. If you enjoy thrifting, come here, you can treasure hunt and find some really cool deals and unexpected products! If you prefer a one stop shop or need to know the inventory for an instant purchase of a particular brand, maybe not a great fit, but still a neat store to visit and you may be able to get some of your Christmas shopping knocked out. I saw a section in the back right side called Ollie's Follies which seemed to be slightly damaged items at a clearance rate. If you find yourself shopping there a lot, they also have a card where you can earn points for every $1 you spend and get rewards. Not sure what kind exactly but that seems like a couponers dream. I say it's worth the trip!

This place was an awesome find. Got a text about a free turkey for the holiday week, and came in to…read morethe store for my first time. Lo and behold, this gem of a place has a ton of affordable, accessible stuff that would make perfect gifts for the holidays, from practical to cute, clothes and gear, pets and people, you name it. There were items for children as well and a nice toy section. There is also furniture and kitchen appliances. As well as speakers and sound bars. I noticed that this place didn't have a Yelp or anything which I feel given how kind the owner has been, they deserve some recognition! There were tons of cool things but here I have shared some photos of things that especially caught my eye. If you snatch it up before I get it, so be it lol! The owner says the stock changes regularly so there will always be more cool stuff coming through. Give this place a chance if you want to get some good gifts, for yourself or whomever.
