If you want eclectic cool clothes and budget is not your top consideration this is the place!…read more However the words Raks and thrift shop in the same sentence is an oxymoron. the crowd they are catering to are people that can afford to pay top dollar that they are demanding for their stuff. And that crowd can afford to go anywhere for their clothes. The owner has to have a huge markup to pay for that rent in Haddonfield and have enough left over to make it worthwhile. which drives the experience I had below... I tried to consign to them, and found them to be picky and condescending. Out of several pairs of slightly worn designer shoes, in a popular size, no less, (items comparable to what I see they usually have for sale), they were only interested in one of my pairs and told me that wasn't "worth" opening up an account for me. Damn. a mean girls' club! and how much could I expect to make if they found my stuff "worthwhile"? the laws of economics tell me ..not anywhere near fair market value. I learned several important lessons from that experience. I used to enjoy shopping there and I am rethinking ever going back because 1) I felt dissed with the last incident and left a bad taste in my mouth. 2) Since the prices rival what you pay for most if their items new, why not go to a retail store where you are likely to spend just as much money and Where you have more variety in choices and sizes. 3) If you are on a budget, go to real non profit thrift shops-or buy less in new stores. and, What to do with all that stuff you bought in places like this on impulse? donate to Goodwill rather than deal with them. your time, energy and peace of mind is worth more.

So if you're coming here to shop - go for it! They have great stuff! I have consigned with them twice and I will start with the pros: They're very organized and efficient with settling the balance owed, given that you call them after 60 days which is clearly communicated during the process. My con is the overall experience in store dropping off the items. During my first experience with them I found them to be very standoffish and aloof while sorting through my items, which like whatever.. they're running a business. But I still felt like it was strange considering they accepted the majority of what I brought in. What they didn't want they coldly handed back to me without saying a word and looking at me with a blank stare. Again, whatever. It didn't hurt my feelings that they didn't want some of my stuff I just thought it was... weird. Can't imagine how they treat people who come in with things they don't want at all... gives me a chill to think about. My most recent experience was the same, except this time they literally accepted all but ONE of my items and STILL treated me coldly. Such a bizarre interaction. Overall I can't see myself consigning here again because they are super rude and I find it so off putting. I don't need to subject myself to that lol. At the bare minimum you can be polite, it's not that serious ya'll.

I didn't really know much about Stein Mart stores - I kinda associated them with old lady clothes,…read morelots of sequins and flowery stuff. I was pleasantly surprised to see they carry some nice business casual wear as well. It is like a step child to Kohl's because they offer a limited choice of housewares from plates, to home decorations, towels, furniture, etc. They also carry shoes (a plus that they offer those fake little nylons for trying on shoes), purses, sunglasses, all that stuff. I will say that I was approached a little rudely by one of the sales ladies who made a comment about what I could or couldn't bring into the rooms to try on some clothes. Maybe she was having a crappy day or her feet hurt, who knew.

Do you think they'll offer discounts to frequent shoppers?! Here we are today, and I've YET to find anything worth buying in this palce. I stopped in last week in search of a discounted dress, but all I found were stiff, high-colored maiden frocks in clashy, bright colors. I second the reviewer below - most of the clothing reminds you of 1990s elementary school teacher style, all fit to be paired with a multi-colored macaroni necklace. Worse still, a lot of the stuff is still way expensive, especially in the homegoods department. Save your time and head to TJ Maxx, Marshall's, or Homegoods instead.
