Sept 6,2020 1 pm cashier was wearing her mask on her chin. Nowhere close to her mouth or nose. On the plus side, she was very friendly. The line was really slow and she really didn't seem to be considered about it. As for the store itself, the vents are really dirty and the area around the counter seemed cluttered and disorganized. Store has a good variety of dollar items. But certainly not my go to place. Management really should take a closer look at this place and give it some much needed attention. read more

The lines are always long they rarely call for a back up cashier to come help they are out of a lot of things almost all the time , the carts never push right if you can get one that even works . read more

Today I visited this Dollar Tree at 9am on a Thursday. I've been in this Dollar Tree location both pre and post Covid and it is low on all types of products. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE! RUDE AND DISRESPECTFUL! EMPLOYEES NOT TRAINED IN TRADITIONAL CUSTOMER SERVICE ETIQUETTE! I had to return defective items that I bought there. The store doesn't give refunds so I had to find items to exchange. I let a woman employee standing at front of store know that I needed to do the exchange. She told a new employee at the register to let her know when I came back to the register so she could show him how to do the exchange. When I got back with my items to exchange, I stood in line behind everyone else and waited for my turn. Since the guy at the register was new it was a little slow, but, I understood. This review is in no way a reflection on him. He forgot to scan some items for the customer in front of me and didn't realize it until after she paid. So, he had to check her out a second time. After a wait, finally, it was my turn. I explained to him the exchange and he called the woman who may or may not have been a manager. He AND I waited for her to come to the register. While WE were waiting, a customer came in from outside and got in line behind me. As soon as the employee who was training the new clerk walked up to the checkout, she immediately called the customer who had come up behind me in the line and started explaining to the new clerk how to return a balloon that customer brought in. It appeared as though that customer may have been a friend of the woman employee. I don't know if this is why that customer got priority treatment and pulled out of line ahead of me. So, I was left standing there, again, waiting. Now the new clerk was holding the balloon and his trainer was explaining to him about what to do with the balloon. I didn't hear all of the conversation they were having about the balloon. Yes I was becoming impatient. I had other things to do. So I spoke up and said that I was first in line and do I have to wait again? ? Nothing hateful or harsh was said by me. I was hoping to draw attention to the fact that I was who the new clerk had called her up for and that I was still there. Before I could explain, the woman employee who was "training" snapped and chewed me out in a very condescending tone, scolding me saying that I was rude, and that she had just told him that they would wait on the balloon and check me out instead and that I should have been able to see she was training him and more. I was stunned. This was in earshot of anyone at the front of the store. At that point I said nothing because it looked like it would've inflamed her more. After the exchange was done she told the new clerk to sign something. I left without saying another word. I have worked in retail. When training associates, we were always told to take care of the NEXT IN LINE, and we were not allowed to give customers first serve priority. We trained associates in a situation like this to apologize to the customer for their wait or to say sorry if there was a misunderstanding, etc. Associates were never allowed to scold a customer in this type of interaction. Over the years, I have experienced bad customer service, but, it was usually understandable and no big deal. This was a horrible experience and I am still in disbelief that a clerk is ALLOWED BY DOLLAR TREE TO ACT THIS WAY AND TO TRAIN ANOTHER EMPLOYEE TO DO THEIR JOB THIS WAY. This woman was ''TRAINING" this guy. She was training him to see that at DOLLAR TREE it is okay to choose whoever he wants out of the line to come to the register. She was training him to be rude and disrespectful to customers by doing so. Then she trained him to fly into a hostile rant and chew the customer out when the customer says something about it or if he has to do something on the job (like training) that he doesn't want to do. This is disgusting and I will not return to DOLLAR TREE. I have shopped this store on a regular basis since the store opened. I don't need it and can find what I need elsewhere. I may pay a little more, but, the better quality and customer service will most definitely make up for it. I have completed the feedback form on the receipt. I have submitted a customer service form on the DOLLAR TREE website giving my contact information. No one from DOLLAR TREE has contacted me about this. I don't expect them to respond. I like the Dollar Tree as a store. However this store has some work to do. They are out of things 99% of the time and the manages never come out to help the cashier unless they pick up the phone and ask for it. I've been there at least 6 times and witness the lines going back by the freezer while the manger on duty sits in the front office doing lord knows what read more

The Carbondale Dollar Tree has mostly very rude employees including some of the Management especially lately towards me and not sure why. This store used to have very helpful and friendly associates. I have lived in Carbondale for three years now so have shopped here for three years. Maybe I should put in my application again to work there and teach them myself how to give more professional and proper customer service. The main reason I still go to this store is for the great beauty products and the bus stops nearby as I don't have a car. Otherwise, I would drive to Dollar General or the Marion Dollar Tree which is much better than this one! I hope my reviews reaches Corporate and something is done about the training of associates and hiring/firing process. I hope to see some improvements on Friday when I get paid May 3 because I plan on shopping there again to see what else may be going on a speak to the one lady Manager that was friendly but haven't seen her lately but I will ask if she still works there. She was very helpful to me in the past and I will be sad if she is gone. read more
