Once I finished shopping, I was privileged to be in the checkout line to witness Target employee Chris interacting with the customers ahead of me. He was so professional and friendly, handling each person as if he knew them, issuing a warm smile with every interaction. I saw other Target associates come to him asking when to take their breaks or how to handle a particular issue. Chris quickly answered them without losing track of the task or customer in front of him. When it was my turn in line, I asked him how long he had been in management because he looked so young. To my surprise, he told me that he was not a manager. I wish more people with customer service jobs took the time to engage with those around them, as Chris at Target in Marion, IL, does. Upon entering, all employees were wearing masks correctly. (Sadly something I'm finding I have to point out). There is hand sanitizer at the door and an employee disinfecting carts ... ALL WITH A SMILE. The store seemed well stocked. I was on a mission for a particular garbage disposal genie, and couldn't find one. I asked an employee in the back who was stocking. She over to where they would be. Unfortunately they did not have what I was looking for, but we had a short conversation and she was so sweet. I perused the rest of the store and was happy to see that they had arrows in the aisles to encourage a one way flow of customers. Clean floors and stocked shelves. Schnucks is a bit more pricey for most of their other groceries. I try to shop at BOTH places, when I'm trying to eat more produce. The folks who work there are really nice, too. I feel like Kroger kinda stole their idea of peeling baby clementines and selling them in a bowl, but I think both stores have good food. They were selling salads (pre-made) at Kroger, near the front of the store but Schnucks has a "salad/ready to eat sandwich cooler" that is slightly bigger at Schnucks. It's kinda hard to "log in" for just browsing the stuff at both places, but at least the addresses are correct in the year 2026! There is a limited selection of bagged candy at Schnucks, in the aisle called "SNACKS" or something. It helps me get more healthy foods (probably) causing better health....good for fighting the cancer I'm battling, less fake sugar! And sorry, Aaliyah, but Schnucks closes at 10 pm now, just like Kroger! They seem nicer about getting you out of the store on time, rather than Kroger. A Kroger employee lady was rude to an old man with a cane/walker who made it around the store and found what he wanted. She basically told him to leave! SHE'S kind of freaky, and not in a great way. I needed to meet someone ASAP or I would've stood up for him... old dude just needed some FOOD! At Schnucks the other night, I didn't leave until 10:10pm! The self-check area seems to have nicer people at Schnucks, more kind and polite.
