This place is not super welcoming with the window full of threatening signs (the crowd lbi attracts doesn't scream vagabond and crooks) and signs everywhere in the store basically making you feel like you're in a museum and not a storefront.

The quality of some of the shirts seems to be a level above the cheap shirts that some of the other stores on LBI are selling. Maybe that's why Chick's has been in business for so long. They had some good sale shirts on the rack outside the store. I got a cute tank-top on sale for $15. The woman employee who was working was super friendly and we had a nice chat with her. I wish I remembered her name. It's so important to have friendly employees when you own a business. If you want to sell things, people are more likely to buy from a store where they positively interact with a friendly employee. I'll definitely go back to Chick's the next time I'm in LBI. I recommend it. Check it out for all your t-shirt and sweatshirt needs!

This shop has always looked interesting to me as we drove past it several times in the last few…read moredays, but despite staying on the island for the summer for several years, I don't remember ever going inside. It's been around for a while so I decided it was finally time that I stopped in to see what was in there. We walked in and no one else was in the store. A much older woman at the front counter seemed to be the only employee. She didn't say hello or even look up from what she was doing when we came in. As I got closer to her, I said hello and then she said hi. To me, it's rude for employees to not even say a quick, "Hi." when a customer walks into their business. It doesn't take much effort. They had a varied selection of assorted decor, clocks, framed prints by local artists, outdoor furniture, lamps, LBI related decor, rugs, and plentiful tchotchkes which were fun to look at, albeit overpriced. Some of the things were unique and looked handmade, plus a lot of made in China items too. It was pleasant to browse there. We were never asked if we needed help with anything or if we had any questions. The woman employee was too busy complaining about her long drive due to construction which backed up traffic on route 72 and the bridge. I didn't buy anything, although I was tempted by a few items. The high prices plus the indifference of the lone employee, made it easy for me to walk out empty-handed. I doubt I'll be back.

It's a nice commercial staple in Beach Haven, and despite the 'uselessness' of the shops, it's hard to not find something to buy here. There's some clothing stores, jewelry shops, and plenty of candy and ice cream parlors. Everything is kitschy and touristy, but ultimately it's fun if nothing else. If you're in the area and looking for a souvenir, or just something to do, it's worth a look. Just don't expect great bargains or one-of-a-kind items.
