On a constant basis the cashier Alecia has been very helpful and very nice everytime I shop there…read more The service is excellent and I find myself going there every time I need groceries instead of the store down the street. Prices are great and you can always get great deals

Today I was there for literally five minutes and I found eight items that were not priced (a few are pictured). They had some citrus fruit salad in the refrigerator section that was on price so I asked a young man working near me if he had a scanner. He didn't so he had to take it up to the front and he came back saying they were $1.99. Great price so I went to the check in with three of them only to find out that they were not $1.99, they were $4.99. I asked the cashier why they have so much trouble keeping things accurately marked, and she launched into some of what were essentially excuses about how the inventory moves around too quickly, blah blah blah. The previous owners were able to do it, the Concord store is able to do it, the Dublin store is able to do it, so what the heck is wrong with the Pleasant Hill store? If you're planning on shopping here, bring your patience because you're going to have to ask over and over how much things are, unless you're independently wealthy and then I guess you really won't have to care. Lucky you.

I was in Downtown Pleasant Hill and decided to duck into this Ross store I spotted to see if I…read morecould find some good deals!! The thing I like about Ross stores is, you don't have to be in them very long to find what you're looking for, at least for me, looking in the Men's section. The men's section is arranged by sizes, so you just go to your size and go through it. Also, it's much smaller than the women's section. Found what I was hoping to find, tried it on, and then I was outta there. But, even though it says your size, I would try everything on anyways, just to be safe. Works for me!!

Am going to try to not go on a whole rant about how Ross stores used to be so much better / nicer…read moreas far as quality of merchandise / standards for displaying said merchandise, and so forth. I think you can get the gist for how I wrote that first sentence on how they used to be more fun to shop because there was more there-there. For example, in the 90's there was a solid brand of clothing called JH Collectibles. You'd likely find them in department stores like Macy's. I was dead set against paying retail prices, especially for nice stuff like JH. The heyday of outlet malls was at that time period. JH had a location at the outlet mall in Solvang, and I picked up a lot of beautiful pieces there for a long time. Then they started showing up in Ross stores, too. I recall a trip from Ventura County down to San Diego for my then husband's business. The Ross's near our home had some items from a new collection for fall that I fell in love with that year. My husband liked them, too - liked how I looked in them, so he led the hunt into stopping at every Ross we could find along the I-5 to run in and see if they had any other items from the collection. I ended up coming home with a whole lot of mix and match skirts, blouses, vests, sweaters, slacks, and blazers. Wore those for a number of years and they were still in great shape. I even lent one of the suits to a good friend when she needed something classic to interview for a job. This collection always made me feel like a million bucks when I wore it. All courtesy of Ross and their buyers. They apparently dispersed different parts of the group to different stores, and my diligence in driving from store to store enabled me to score so many parts of the collection. They don't seem to do this kind of buying any longer, sad to say. I didn't see anything like that kind of featured vendor in this store. I was looking for some dressy earrings to wear to an event, plus an evening purse. Zero luck on the evening purse. The earrings I found were okay, but I doubt they'll become any kind of favorite for me. The staff in the store was friendly, but the merch was just so-so at the front feature display area. That's where you should put some of your most appealing stuff, right? Their displays didn't achieve the goal of drawing you in to want to dive deeper into a shopping hunt.
