After passing by the store a few times a year, always on the way to Somewhere Else, Daughter and I…read morewere able to stop in to check things out today. The place is a lot bigger than it looks from the outside! It's pretty well organized, so if you're looking for a particular thing (dishes, furniture, children's clothing, for example), and don't have time to browse, you can head right for that section of the store. Everything's divided into rooms, so you get more of that fun "thrill of discovery" and "treasure hunt" feel than with the stores that are just one huge warehouse-type setting. The prices are more than fair; there wasn't one item priced to make me think "ooh, that's way too much", but plenty of things that made me say out loud "oh, wow!" We didn't linger for long in the furniture or glassware/dish/kitchen sections (we're up to our ears in all of the above, already) so I can't speak for the prices in there, but can't imagine that they wouldn't be in line with prices in the rest of the store. We spent way too much time in the book room; hardbacks were $1 and paperbacks were 75¢. I don't know if those are the prices every day, but we bought way more books than we should have. Hardbacks are awfully heavy, but at $1, what's a girl to do? ;) I picked up three of the classics that I've been meaning to read for decades, and they're in perfect condition. Checking out took much longer than expected; the lady had to sort our stuff into many different piles and add them up separately. It seemed like an odd system, and I couldn't figure out what was going on. Be patient and allow a little extra time for this. On the bright side, they do accept debit/credit cards. We didn't have time to see the whole store, on this outing, but we'll definitely be back.

RACIST STORE!!!!!!!…read more I just left this store and I am upset, I left work early today because I am on my way to my cousin's wedding, I wanted to get a card. I quickly got my card and I proceeded to the cash register next to the door. I was second in line, the cashier who is a middle aged white woman who was waiting on another older white woman. As soon as she is done with the white lady in front of me she leaves the cash register and begins to sell tote bags to a couple of other white ladies who just walked in the store and holds a conversation!!!! Then I thought she knows them maybe it's just a one off, but she does not come back to the register, she goes and stands in front of the door and begins to sell tote bags to another group of white ladies that just walked into the store!!! I am still standing at the register totally ignored. I am black bald headed and was taller then the lady that was in front of me, you could not have missed me!!!! But I will be sure to spread the word of what just happened!!! I dropped the card on the counter, I did not say anything and I went over to the Acme to get my card!

2/11/17: Minus two stars for their shoddy treatment of my husband, this past week. He's clean,…read moredresses neatly, in decent shape, friendly, quiet, and respectful, but he also expects at least an attempt at good customer service when he's about to spend his money in a store. He used to go into Donna's Hallmark for their fancy chocolates, even though they've always had a problem getting his order right. It's always baffled us, how it could be so difficult to put the correct six pieces into a box, but looking back, one logical conclusion is that they don't just like men in the store and have been trying to run him off for years. This last time, there was only one lady in front of him, and she was done with her order and obviously ready to check out, but the clerk kept trying to interest her in more stuff. She kept repeating "no, thank you", while my husband was waiting, so far, patiently. He noticed a couple of other employees at the side, talking about arranging displays or something (not helping customers) and asked the lady at the counter if they worked there too. With an uppity attitude, the employee replied "Well, yes, they do," but made no move to call them over to help. He told her that he'd take his business elsewhere and left. Maybe this store, like so many in the area, have the idea that, since they're the only game in town, customers are trapped into shopping there, regardless of how they're treated. Sure, people will put up with it, for a while, but eventually, they get fed up and abandon the effort. For us, it's worth it to drive a little farther for more shopping options and better treatment by employees. It's unlikely that we'll be back. // Original review, with edits: This is a fun and friendly store [for women] to browse in; you never know what neat, quirky, must-have things you'll find that you never knew you needed. We [used to] take my mom, [who doesn't leave the house, much, any more], who sends people cards for just about everything, and this has been her go-to store for many, many years. There's plenty to look around at (and sometimes impulse buy) while she [was] getting her cards. They carry the "usual" items: wrapping paper, bags, ribbons, albums, knick-knacks, fun things for kids, and the displays change frequently, so you'll never be bored. They even have a small but very nice selection of Yankee Candles in varying sizes. There's a candy counter in the front, with a good variety of high-quality chocolate, so even my husband [didn't] mind waiting. (I'd recommend that you pay attention when getting the candy, though; more than once, he's asked for something and found it was something entirely different when he got it home.) As a card shop, though, they have a great selection so you can always find the perfect card, from funny to serious, from expensive to budget, and for pretty much any taste, occasion or event, even some kind of off-the-wall ones. [For women], it's certainly worth taking the time to go in and check it out. [Men, save yourselves some grief and go to the Acme next door. They have a decent selection of cards, too, without the attitude.]

With my first move in 2020, there was a bit of a scheduling issue, causing the movers to arrive later than originally scheduled and with a van rather than a truck (I had been told that it would be a truck in order to fit all of my belongings into one trip). Therefore, it ended up taking two trips. However, the owner made things right by only charging me the original rate for one trip. Mistakes happen and I'm fine with it, as long as the company owns up to it and makes it right. And there were no similar issues with my second move in 2026. The guys had furniture wrap and blankets to protect my belongings. During both moves, I did not find anything that was damaged at all. What more can you ask for!? I highly recommend Man With a Van! In fact, I'm likely going to use them again soon to help with some items that I will need to move into storage.

The dispatcher Paul needs anger management lessons…read more My friend recently moved across town and ordered Man With A Van movers as they had good experiences with the company in the past. Man With A Van gave my friend two quotes: a cheaper quote for Two Guys with a Van and a more expensive quote for Three Guys with a Truck. My friend sent the more expensive rate for Three Guys with a Truck. But then this dispatcher tried the blame game of "You didn't specify Truck" when to our surprise only Two Guys and a Van showed up. Lemme ask you a question. If I offer you a hotdog for $3 and a burger for $4, and you hand me 4 dollars, wouldn't anyone with a working brainstem assume that meant YOU WANTED THE BURGER? But my friend was sweet and offered: "Maybe y'all can come back tomorrow with three guys and a truck, because it's really a three person job", to which the movers declined. After a quick call, the dispatcher said there'd be no additional charge for extra trips due to the smaller vehicle. What's more is that one of the two Movers had a bad back and couldn't take the stairs like the other dude. So at some points the job is only getting done by one dude (you could argue one-and-a-half dudes). If THREE guys should be able to make the move of loading and unloading in TWO hours, then HALF that much manpower means... you guessed it: it's gonna take at least twice as long! Not to mention they spent extra time stacking things like Jenga inside the van to make it all fit in one trip. Because the job (that my friend agreed to pay $500 for three guys and a truck) took so much longer with one and a half guys and a van, Paul upcharges an extra $300!! Again, my friend is nice, and they're trying to hash this out cause they didn't get what they paid for, regardless of it it took more time. (And again, of course less manpower means more time). But instead of having a conversation with my friend, Paul starts SCREAMING at them, cursing at them, saying "You're Full Of Sh*t!" and threatening legal action immediately! My friend is begging through tears that they want to make this right; begging him to STOP yelling and panicking them. The mover's felt so bad and embarrassed overhearing Paul act like a jack*ss on the phone that one even offered to pay the remainder, but my friend, still shook up and in tears, said that they wanted to make this right and moved what little money they have around to pay as much as they could. We're ALL struggling out here, and the movers def deserve to get paid. I'm sure the dude with the hurt back needs more money and easier hours, but the company is working him to the bone. But to have this dude Paul berate and coerce my friend, spitting venom over the phone? Shouting until my friend is begging in tears for him to stop? I'm never gonna forget that. And this company needs to make things right. The job took long because of Dispatch's mistakes. They sent 1.5 guys to do a 3 man job, without the agreed upon equipment no less. If you want a stress-free experience: steer clear. If you want some jerk from New York taking out his daddy issues on you: you've come to the right place.
