There are more stores closed than open and the mall exterior needs some major TLC. There were very few patrons in the mall. It had a strange feel to it. There were more workers than shoppers. The mall does have some real hard workers that are very friendly in the stores, most of which are small and/or local business. I like to support local, but someone needs to take over management of the mall and put some money into it. I could not find a food court or bathroom while I was in there. The mall may have had them but I just could not find them. The mall has a reputation for being rough and unsafe. The area that it is in may not be the best, but I never felt in danger during my daytime visit. I don't think I would recommend going here just to shop around, but if you have a specific destination in the mall in mind, go for it.

Like most Vintage shops there isn't much the bigger woman but the clothing accessories are such a treat to look at and enjoy. Places like this make me want to put on a play set in the past and go to town in this shop outfitting everyone. The clerk was very welcoming and knowledgeable. The staff knows the selection like the back of their hand and can guide you to exactly what you're looking for. But they also really celebrate other antique and vintage stores and curators in town, and can direct you to just about anything you're looking for. Bazaar-Oh Vintage is a small vintage shop on the east side of Irvington, but don't be fooled by its size. It's delightfully decked out with curiosities, and always manages to procure oddities and beauties that aren't typically found in other vintage shops. You'll find more décor and furniture than clothing, which suits my preference anyways since I wear the same five shirts every week. We've gotten Tiffany-style lamps, Irvington Ice and Coal coupon books, and a number of other peculiarities from this store, and we love to pop in as often as we can to see what's new! I'd recommend following them on Instagram to stay up to date on some of their coolest acquisitions.

I'm looking for that "Why would I come back here?" appeal that makes a business a destination instead of simply going to a big box store to get something. So when I stopped in after seeing a friend's photos of the shop, I first noticed that the staff was personable and inviting. I really like when a place that is offering things for your own home makes you feel welcome in their business. It sets a tone. As I browsed through the different rooms in the shop, each was a little different. There are some standard items like candles, knick knacks, some women's jewelry and accessories, and even a few toys. But what I sensed was there were two themes that seemed most apparent. First, the store is loaded with holiday items. I came here just a few days before Christmas and the place was loaded with unique items that were affordable (though not cheap.) There were ornaments (marked down by 40%), table items, and things you'll just have to come in and check out for yourself. I also noticed a second theme that was promoting downtown Indy. They had pillows with the names of neighborhoods on them. Those would be great as house/apartment warming gifts. Even the candles mentioned earlier had neighborhood names on them, though I am not certain who determined which scent represented them. (Note that all the fragrances were pleasant, not some actual scent you might smell outside!) And the staff were friendly and welcoming. That goes a long way.
