Upon realizing the mistake roughly two hours later, I called the store's customer service desk at 4:09 PM to inquire whether I could return the unopened bottles. The representative who answered assured me that a return or exchange would be no problem as long as I provided my receipt or Hy-Vee Perks card. Based on that assurance, I drove directly to the store's Wine & Spirits department. The employees there directed me to the main customer service counter. When I explained the situation to the associate at customer service, she immediately became defensive and firmly stated that returning unopened alcohol is illegal in Missouri. When I mentioned that I had just called to confirm the policy--and showed her the call timestamp on my phone--she claimed she was the one on duty at that time, yet continued to insist it was illegal. A quick check of Missouri state regulations confirms that returning unopened alcohol is not illegal. What was most concerning was not just the misinformation, but the lack of professionalism. There was no apology for the miscommunication or the wasted trip. Furthermore, as I walked away, I heard the associate and another team member laughing. Having worked in customer service for 40 years, I understand that mistakes happen, but disrespect and outright dismissiveness are unacceptable--especially toward long-standing, loyal customers. I am bringing this to your attention in the hope that it will be addressed with the staff involved to prevent other customers from having a similar experience.

After you order, you pay at the register along with your other purchases ( drinks, desserts, plants, shirts.. ). They don't have an announcement when you're food is ready, so you have to watch for it. They have napkins and plastic utensils available upon request. Luckily I had a chef's knife in my car for cutting everything up. If their food wasn't fantastic, it would not be a five star experience. For dining there, they have outdoor patio tables available. Everything was Delicious! Onions rings are scratch made, Garlic knots are flavorful, the Monday special ( Muffuletta ) is elevated with melted cheese and the Meat Stromboni was the perfect balance of sauce, meat, cheese, and crust. He explained that it was starting to rust and that he could grab me some fresher heads. He went to the back, found me in the store, and swapped out my lettuce. Super above and beyond. 2. I was walking out of the store with my purchase and a bottle of wine I bought fell out of the bag and fell onto the ground outside. It was totally my fault. I put it in there and didn't do a great job-clearly. An associate was outside and went to grab some stuff to clean up the glass. When she came back outside, she instructed me to go to customer service so that they could get me another bottle. They didn't charge me for the replacement. I didn't waste any time getting to the store and darned if I didn't find it, just waiting for me. I found the store clean, well laid out, easy to navigate and it's employees pleasant and helpful. Sprouts carries healthier food than more mainstream grocery stores and you'll find brands not seen elsewhere. Like Tillamook. Besides that, I was happily surprised that they take Apple Pay! Based on this visit I recommend Sprouts for those health-conscious individuals or those who just happen to be in the mood for a couple scoops of world class ice cream.
