I have been living in Manalapan for 35 years and was here for the opening of this Publix many many…read moreyears ago. Publix has always prided tself on its friendliness and good customer service. However, my last few experiences at this Publix Manalapan have not been very pleasant. The cashiers and bag people literally don't say a word to you, but keep on talking to each other. They obviously don't care about Good Customer Relations because I literally stood for 20 minutes today as my groceries were scanned and packed and the cashier did not even look at me one time. They used to ask if we had found everything. They used to say good morning. Not anymore. Oh, but she did find her voice after everything was bagged up and I was getting ready to leave to ask me if I wanted to contribute to whatever the latest Publix charity is.

I rarely ever have to wait at the deli to get slices meats and cheeses. I try to nab my favorite BOGOs on the items that I can't get anywhere else, and most recently I got the spices I needed- in glass containers- with a BOGO spice deal. Win! I also like to look at their greenwise meat and seafood options. I've recently been grabbing their cuban rolls, which are like a shorter sub roll, that my kids really love. In general, still enjoy the atmosphere of the shopping experience here.

The produce section is very cramped, and there are no overflow sections for the Aldi finds section, which shares an aisle with the baking supplies. But the staff is awesome, so friendly and kind, and the hot Aldi finds items don't seem to disappear on the first day. The parking is ok, with a couple of pull-up parking spots on one side. It's so convenient to get to from I-95, plus it is a fairly newer store with a standalone building. Busier on the weekends, of course. There are no self checkouts at this location, which I think is great! Some of my go-to's are the grass-fed ground beef and the organic bags of apples. I enjoy the Aldi brand for processed items due to their policies. For my kids lunches, we get the organic fruit gummies, the rice cakes, the banana chips, and the Aldi-brand laughing cow cheese. The frozen protein waffles are a hit. We get Aldi knockoff cereals (cornflakes, rice krispies, chex), and as a treat on occasion their lucky charms cereal. It took me a long time to enjoy shopping here after primarily shopping at Publix, but I like having limited selections of products, the affordability of the Aldi brands, the option of their natural line, the fun of the finds aisle, and not having a giant store to get lost in.

I think it may be a neighborhood secret that they have a great selection of canned and bottled single serve craft beers and wines from around the world at great prices. They have daily grilled lunch specials as well as great breakfast sandwiches. All food is togo and it is prepared by two very lovely ladies. This small store is jam packed with snacks and daily accessories that you would find in the usual convenience store but at much better prices. Stop in and check this great place out!

I was refused access to the store when accompanied with my legal service dog. I am a disabled army…read moreveteran and I have a prescribed service dog to assist with my disabilities. When I stopped in yesterday to buy a couple bottles of wine I had my dog with me. I was aggressively stopped by armed security and told I could not have my dog in the store I explained she was a service animal. He and the manager both denied me access. I have it all on video!

I bought one of the bags in and Sarah helped me grind it using their machine. She was so nice and friendly. She made sure I got every last ounce of my organic coffee. The seafood department lady was also friendly. She gave us a couple bags of ice for our cold groceries since we had a couple of stops before going home. The store is clean and welcoming. Even though it's a third (quarter?) of the size of the Fort Lauderdale store, they seemed to have a good representation of their offerings. We took a short stroll to see what they had and to check out any new products. They also had a nice supply of prepared meals. We did wind up buying a couple things -- our freezer isn't very large and was still fairly full. The gal at the checkout was pleasant and the process was easy.
