A little known fact is that shoes make excellent cookware.
Ariel W.

Marshalls is a discount department store started in 1956, by Alfred Marshall and group of entrepreneurs who capitalized on the post war economy boom and the move to the suburbs by offering the concept of brand names for less. Ten years after opening they were the leading discount retailer. By 1993 they were in 46 states. In 1995 Marshalls was acquired by it's chief rival, the parent company of T.J. Maxx. Marshalls and T.J. Maxx now operate as sister stores although Marshall's has more family shoes and a larger men's and juniors department. I am not a fan of Marshalls clothes and digging through their racks but I like to get items for the beach and camp. A year ago I bought the best lunch bag where you can pop it in the freezer and the insulation freezes keeping everything really cold. I didn't find any of the lunch bags and the towel quality has really gone down hill. The only item I really liked was a reusable sandwich bag. They are great for the environment. The lines are notoriously long and it wan't worth it to wait for one item. I'll order online or check my local store at a less busy time. It was a strike out for me this time. One last thing to know is you must wear a mask to enter the store.

And I'd not been to this particular store before. We signed up years ago when we used to go to Cocoa Beach every July 4th weekend and there were two large stores (one for women and one for men) that we found ourselves stopping at each time we were in town. In fact, my husband used to find bargains here in the men's section -- shorts and shirts on sale at ridiculously low prices. Prices and stock have changed a bit over the years, however. I wanted to stop by as I had a 20 percent discount coupon that I'd received via email to use during my birthday month. Although I haven't had much luck at Beall's with ladies clothing, I have had some luck in their accessories department. I looked through their cosmetics. I looked through their purses. There were some big-name designer ones at a huge discount. The Kate Spade purses were lovely although not my style. And I looked through the shoes -- as I've purchased some Tommy Hilfinger sandals in the past that I wore for years. I wasn't that successful. I wound up buying a small item in their health and beauty section. My husband found a great set of Wi-Fi headphones (that he's already used). The discount I received made our purchases even more affordable.

To my delight, I quickly found the items I needed. The store is well organized and clean. Because of the small size of the store, it's not stocked as full as a WalMart or Target but you can find clothing, small appliances, baby items, toys, pet items, perfumes, accessories, and home decor here. Despite the fact it was the Saturday before Christmas when I shopped here, the line to check out moved very quickly. The cashier was also pleasant and very helpful. Will be back.

I took the mattresses to be returned at the Walmart on 2765 10th Ave, Palm Springs, Fla. I was first told that the exchange area had closed at 9 PM. However, it was 8:57 PM. I remarked that we had been there for at least 5 minutes waiting for someone to help. Everyone seemed baffled. Finally the manager came and said that the area had been closed since 8 PM, but indicated that he would help us anyway. I had written on one of the boxes the word "exchange" followed by the latest date for when I could return the defective items. The manager seemed to think that this was some sort of ruse, in which I had repeatedly, apparently, bought and returned air mattresses. I now believe that for some bizarre reason, he thought I was being dishonest. This, in spite of having the mattresses, boxes, and receipt. He informed me summarily that I could not receive a refund. We could only exchange the mattresses that we had for ones of a similar price point. I found this all to be very confusing. However, I went ahead and got two unopened mattresses for about the same price. They were both full-size. There was no comparable product that matched what we had initially purchased, which were queen-size mattresses. Never mind the fact that the product, made by Ozark Trail, is inherently defective. Why would I want to get more of the same and wake up three times a night thrashing around in a drowning bed? This concern seemed of no consequence to the manager. Once we came back to do the exchange, he briskly tapped the original receipt and said, "See? It says so here...", apparently with the intention of informing me that the exchange policy was my only recourse. He then gave us a gift card with $2.06 on it, saying that that was the difference and we could spend the gift card on whatever we wanted. I have now looked up all the ways that Walmart allows for returns. The manager, it would appear, is inaccurate. I would like to know why. Initially, I thought that he was trying to help us; however, I now realize that he wasn't, for whatever reason. I suppose he assumed that I was up to no good, all in the name of two air mattresses that didn't work in the first place. He used that logic to misstate the truth, it would appear. I now have air mattresses smaller than the originals that don't work and that don't even match the initial ones I purchased. I intend to sell them on Facebook Market in order to recoup some of the expense. Can any of this be explained to me? I will not buy any products again from Walmart.

My husband went to Walmart Liquor store yesterday around 11am or so . One female staff member at…read morethe time was restocking shelves. My husband walks over to grab vodka bottles as we were going to have a Bloody Mary get together ! He sees 4 bottles of a certain vodka left on the shelf . Next to it on the floor was two full cases of vodka he wanted on the bottom and 4 other cases of other liquors on top of those . So my husband asks her if that's the product on the bottom of the stacked cases and she said yes.My husband then said he will take one box of the 6 vodkas in a case and she said give me a minute and I will get it so my hub said ok . She then continued to grab the top box and walk it over to another spot and set it on floor get her box cutter get it open and restock the shelf ! So then my husband sees the staff member isn't going to help him now as she was going to continue to remove and restock everything on top of vodka first . So he then moved the remaining two boxes on top of the vodka he wanted and she then yelled at him and told him "I told you to wait a minute and if you get hurt you can't blame Walmart ! Now with the case I wanted exposed she comes over and takes the top vodka puts it on floor and slides it into middle of floor and says here you go! So now he has to further bend down to get the box of vodka since she lowered the top box to the floor. So he said "Oh it's ok for me to pick up this box but I can't pick up the two lighter boxes ? So the staff member did not handle the situation correctly . Staff schedule restock but when a customer comes in they need to stop restocking and help the customer with their transaction first . Making a customer wait while she restocks 4 boxes is just wrong and also being inappropriately rude to a customer . He bought what he needed and left as I walked in to use the lotto machine and the Walmart member even had an attitude with me . She wasn't pleasant and I got out of there fast . Some people are not good with customers and apparently she was having a bad day or is grumpy all the time . My husband's shopping experience was not good. I'm hoping a manager of this particular Walmart will talk to her and tell her help the customers first restock after customer leaves store !

However on my last few visits I've noticed that the store has taken a bit of a downturn. I might be crazy, but it seems like there is much less merchandise here than there used to be. In particular in the men's department, I had a hard time finding anything that I was looking for. It also looks visibly sparse, much more so than it used to. Sadly, it reminded me of what latter day Sears look like shortly before it collapsed. Also one of the two entrances was closed off. Nothing says nice vibrant store like closing off one entrance with a shopping cart. Not that it made a difference, the store was generally empty I was there at about 5:00 on a Friday and there were maybe 6 people in the entire store. I also have to mention the idiotic shift with how they process Kohl's website returns. Kohl's is very different from Amazon in that they do not give you free labels or free returns. You either have to pay to mail it in or go to the store to return it. They used to process returns in the back at the dedicated customer service desk which was fairly easy. But for some reason that area is now "Amazon returns only". So customers who decided to purchase something from Kohl's over Amazon now have to wait in the checkout line to return something, while people that went to their competitor get to do an easy drop off. Like can Kohl's corporate be any stupider? They're just making the competition look good at their own expense. Anyway, still not a terrible store. They do serve a purpose and hey there aren't many traditional department stores left. I guess Macy's is kind of close but it all kind of feels like a dying breed. Three stars.
