Well here she's slicing super thin about 4 times!!! Then I asked for another same order and she sliced a different color cheese and goes on to say it's the same cheese. I had to show her the two cheese were different color. It took her about 35 minutes going back and forth. Then my 15.99 per pound honey glaze turkey was thick and heavy! Great job HT! At the customers expense. I was late to an appointment and missed it. Stop with this kind of hiring. You're not cheap and we deserve good service. Hope Corporate sees this.

Very busy place as it is nearest to the beach and at a busy intersection, so the parking lot can be crowded also. The Deets: The nearest big chain grocery store in the Holden Beach area is this Food Lion, back on the mainland in the shopping center at the first stoplight after coming back over the bridge from the beach (same on as Walgreens). The parking lot is usually pretty packed as this store/shopping center is a pretty busy one. The grocery store itself is pretty clean and has a good layout, but again usually pretty busy with customers. The grocery prices are pretty acceptable for a beach area and of course their Food Lion MVP cards for special prices are useable here. There is a pretty good selection of all grocery items, no visible lacking areas noted so far. There is a hot food bar available if you want to use for a premade meal to take home. The beer cooler is towards the front to the left as you walk in, pretty handy in a beach area obviously. There are staffed checkout lines as well as self checkout kiosks, and the self checkout area line actually moves pretty fast as well staff comes quickly when needed/screen signals them. This beach area Food Lion gets the job done and I have to say it's not bad compared to most beach area grocery stores as well as a lot of Food Lion stores in general.

I find that you offer quality products at fair prices, and overall, I have been very satisfied with the store. One suggestion I would make is to simplify the discount process. Having standard discounts, paper coupons, and electronic coupons can sometimes make it unnecessarily complicated for customers to determine which discounts apply and how to get the best price. A simpler, more consistent discount system would be much easier and less frustrating for shoppers. My main concern today, however, was the customer service I experienced. At the deli counter, the gentleman assisting me appeared very unhappy and was not particularly friendly. After my order was completed, I thanked him and wished him a wonderful day. In return, I received only a displeased look. I understand that everyone has difficult days, but interactions like this can make a customer feel unwelcome. If someone is unhappy in a customer-facing position, perhaps management should take the opportunity to check in with them and see if there is anything that can be done. I also experienced an unpleasant interaction at checkout. I began bagging my groceries because I was simply trying to help keep things moving. I was told not to do so in a rather unpleasant tone. I had no intention of interfering--I was only trying to be helpful. Food Lion is a nice store, and I genuinely enjoy shopping there. That is why it is disappointing when interactions with employees leave a customer with an unpleasant experience. I hope management will take this feedback in the constructive spirit in which it is intended. Well we were on the island for a day and decided to see if it was still there. We drove up and there was a window boarded up and it looked deserted. Upon a second look and one car in the parking lot we saw it was open and decided to hop in and give them some love. We were greeted warmly by a cashier donning a mask, which I was happy to see. We went up and down all the aisles of this old school grocery store. They have just about anything you'd need, including for the beach. We saw the cutest seashell nightlight with a seahorse etched on it and had to have it. Not a big purchase, but at least some support. When this crazy pandemic clears and we feel we can safely stay a few days this will be our go to for any needed groceries.

Competitively priced for the area and no service speedbumps experienced yet here. The Deets: This Publix is the one of the newest grocery stores in the Ocean Isle Beach area, and the one nearest to the island at this time. It's a very nice and clean store, as most Publix locations usually are, and spacious with plenty to offer. The layout is conducive to finding things you need in a fairly reasonable amount of time and not confusing to me. They offer the usual stations such as bakery, deli, etc. but they do not offer a seafood market (not that it is necessary as there are some around OIB). Their wine section is pretty extensive for a grocery store (see pic). I found the grocery prices to be comparatively more reasonable here for the most part, definitely something to be noted. I have not witnessed or experienced any service hiccups along any trips here. This Publix is a welcomed addition the OIB vicinity, and glad it offers some competition for the grocery business in the area.
