Maybe it's because I grew up in this area, but the service here seems friendly…read more I wasn't even a little concerned that when I sent my husband in (to buy gluten-free refrigerated cookie dough and the very specific wet cat food that our 10 year old male currently prefers) that he would wander the aisles in confusion-- someone will always help. Nutshell: they did, he was in and out, going home now to bake cookies and feed cats.

Subject: Formal Complaint: Professional Misconduct by Store Manager at Elmhurst Location (Store…read more#3182) To Jewel-Osco Customer Care and Corporate Leadership, I am contacting you to report an ongoing issue regarding unprofessional management behavior at your Elmhurst location (153 S. Schiller St., Elmhurst, IL). As a regular customer, I believe that employee disciplinary actions should be handled with discretion and respect. Unfortunately, I have witnessed a female store manager publicly berating employees on two separate occasions, which completely ruined my shopping experience. Incident 1: Monday, July 6, 2026 While waiting in the checkout line, I witnessed this manager speaking in a very loud, aggressive, and unprofessional tone to a young male employee. She was shouting that she was the manager, that "what she says goes," and told him she did not want to see him outside anymore. Incident 2: June 2026 Last month, I witnessed the same manager shouting down a grocery aisle at an employee, loudly warning them that they "better not be on the telephone." While I understand that employees require guidance and correction, doing so publicly in a loud, demeaning manner is entirely inappropriate. Constructive criticism and disciplinary actions should be conducted privately, not in front of a store full of customers. This behavior creates a hostile atmosphere and reflects poorly on the Jewel-Osco brand. I request that corporate leadership look into this matter and ensure this manager is coached on professional leadership practices. If this disruptive behavior is not addressed, I will be forced to take my business elsewhere and escalate this matter further. I look forward to your prompt response regarding how this will be resolved. Sincerely, F.L., leef860@gmail.com

Mariano's Elmhurst 678 N York St, Elmhurst, IL 60126…read more I want to extend my heartfelt thanks to Jill and Marina in the floral department at Mariano's Elmhurst for their truly outstanding service. From the moment I approached them, they greeted me with such warmth and professionalism that instantly made me feel valued as a customer. They went above and beyond to make sure I found exactly what I needed, offering creative suggestions and taking the time to ensure every detail was perfect. Their knowledge of flowers and arrangements is exceptional, and it's clear they both take great pride in their work. What stood out most was how genuinely caring and attentive Jill and Marina were throughout the entire process. They didn't just provide a service they created an experience. Their teamwork, patience, and dedication made what could have been a stressful task easy and enjoyable. I left the store feeling confident and grateful, knowing I was in such capable hands. I am sincerely thankful that Mariano's hires such wonderful, professional people who truly care about their customers. Jill and Marina exemplify the kind of service that keeps customers like me coming back time and time again. Because of them, I will always choose Mariano's for my floral needs and I'll be sure to recommend this location to friends and family as well. Thank you again, Jill and Marina, for your kindness, professionalism, and exceptional service! Sincerely, Monquiz

I would put a 4* but the so-called hot food bar was not that hot and one item was orange chicken…read morewhich I took with beef tips, veggies, Mack and cheese and a chicken breast took it home to eat because you fill up the food box and then go to the registers away from the food to pay for it, as the food is getting cold already. Orange chicken is not what I got they filled it with some really fatty wings so disappointing. I paid $12.86 for almost cold food that had the wrong items. I was there at 2:30 pm that should of had a discount for almost cold food with the wrong items, maybe put the right items names or just remove the note that tells you what item is there. I ate at Elmhurst Mariano's 3 days ago and the food was hot and good also had the right names where the food is. It was lunch time so that is probably why it was hot and the right food names.

Walmart in general is kinda the GOAT honestly…read more I've been going to this particular location for the last few months now since I moved to the area. It's kind of a hit or miss; I've had good experiences and not-so-good experiences. No matter what time of the day you come here at, I swear this Walmart is always busy. I've never seen it slow on any day or any time. The parking can be kind of hectic because of this, too, but I usually just park in the back anyway to avoid it (gotta get my steps in). This Walmart is BIG and has everything a Walmart requires - food, clothes, toiletries, electronics, decor, seasonal stuff, etc. Sometimes I find their shelves empty and running out of a lot of stuff. Sometimes I find their shelves fully stocked, it's really up in the air when I come in. I've usually always had a good experience with the staff though; they're pretty helpful and nice. The worst experience I had was when my sister and I bought a TV here for our apartment. We bought a TV and had a good experience with the employees; however, when we opened up the TV at home there was a huge crack in it and it was not a workable TV because of it. We went back to customer service and it turns out they re-sold a returned, broken TV. They said it should have never been on their shelves. It was just a whole ordeal and took kinda long and then we had to buy another TV since that was the last one within the price range we were looking for. I've been to better Walmarts and I've been to worse, this one is okay if you're looking for simple items!

Do they hate us? This is my last time trying this location for *anything*…read more I came in for the big jug of oil for my 2005 ml350. Walmart does beat the next brick and mortar price by several dollars, but I'm not sure that after climbing the shelf a few times to try to find it that I was still getting a bargain. I gave up and sent David in-- he's six foot three and should do better than I did... or maybe he will get randomly lucky and find an employee who will help. Looks like a successful excursion, the bank app just alerted me to a purchase. Lets wait a few minutes to see if he comes out with the motor oil (it might just be treats for the meows instead) Okay! Meow food and oil-- but he had to compromise. The person who helped told him that this location NEVER has the 23 dollar five quart. We ended up paying thirty one dollars and getting a stiff reminder: Chicagoland is an ongoing crime.

SHOP SMARTER This…read moreaffordable supermarket's location isn't our go-to, but it still deserves some love. With Nichole C away for a long weekend, I had some grocery shopping to handle before she returned. Although the ALDI in Melrose Park is the one that normally receives our weekly patronage, I felt like mixing things up and venturing out to this Northlake spot on 12/7/19. Bold move, right? The layout totally threw me for a loop. Entry/exit doors were flipped and the whole store was almost nearly a mirror image of what I'm used to (that's not in any way their fault, though, we're just creatures of habit). Check-out was painless; the girl at the register was friendly and lightning fast. I also bagged my own groceries in record time. Overall the store was pretty clean, despite the people being weird(er than usual). Some crazy lady -- who looked EERILY like Mama Fratelli from The Goonies -- used her shopping cart as a discount battering ram on more than one occasion. She also spent a solid few minutes shouting to no one in particular about the cost of green beans. * TL;DR * I used to think ALDI was targeted at penny-pinching older folks, mostly because my only experiences at ALDI were with.....wait for it.....penny-pinching older folks. Now that I'm wiser and buying foodstuffs on a routine basis, I realize it's just more economical to shop here instead of, say, Jewel. I've little else to say about this location that's exactly 3 miles west of our typical store. It's not likely we'd come back again since it's well out of our way, but I'd recommend for those in the area. Not too shabby.
