So the owner responded to my previous review, which I included at the bottom, and said they would…read moreaddress the issue. Well...he didn't. I went in tonight 2/2/26 and bought 1.5 pounds of shrimp with the heads on. I should have inspected them before he bagged them up. After I got home and started unpacking them they were even worse than the other ones. Maybe half were salvageable. The rest were rotten, dripping black slime and smelled. Last time I went back this time I just give up. Your seafood dept is below adequate. Maybe this Stater Bros. should only sell basic seafood. I buy them for a pet reptile of mine. He can eat the ones I salvaged but I feel sorry for anyone that buys them for human consumption. You'll prob get sick. This isn't a complaint against the seafood guy working tonight. He is always friendly and really cool. This is directed to the owner that said he would take care of the problem but doesn't care so he just keeps selling rotten seafood. If the only two times spread out by several months I've purchased shrimp with the heads on and they are absolutely disgusting and bad then there's a good chance that they are always in that condition. ORIGINAL REVIEW BELOW First of all I love Stater Bros in general. All the employees are super friendly and very helpful. This is directed to the seafood dept or the person that trains them. I came in Monday and purchased a pound of the shrimp with the heads on. I didn't look at the pan of the shrimp in the case. I just assumed they were all good. I took it home, put it in the freezer and on Tuesday took it out to use them. When I opened the package there was black liquid at the bottom of the paper. Over 75% of the shrimp the heads were solid black and some of the bodies were black as well. After googling black shrimp it said that it means the shrimp have been exposed to a bacteria and should be discarded. I immediately called Stater brothers and the associate I spoke to said that I could bring them back in and exchange them. I came back tonight to exchange them but I noticed that the majority of the ones in the case had the same issue. I asked him and he said they should be fine since most of them have the same black issue. I said no that's actually not true. And explained what it meant. I've bought them many times and they are never black. So I decided not to worry about it and just asked him to throw them away since it was only $8. Come on Stater Brothers get on top of your seafood! If your associate notices something when they're putting them out, why would they even put them out? They should know what is good and what is bad seafood and not display or sell bad seafood. This is the second time I've had an issue with bad seafood from this particular Stater Brothers. The first time was king crab legs that were absolutely disgusting. They were brown and gray In color and slimy. Those I got exchanged, but I've never bought again. As I said, I love the stater Brothers and I will come back again. However, I will not be buying any more seafood from Stater Brothers. Stater Bros. Markets (Owner) a year ago We apologize for the issues you experienced with our seafood, Ian. Thank you for your feedback, and we'll address this with our team to ensure better quality control in the future. - Jesús

I feel that with people losing their jobs, I do not believe leaving a yelp review effecting the entire store is not Fair! I recommend before posting a bad review, speak with the store manager first, to not punish the entire store's rating, please! I would like to acknowledge the Plant section worker, Tina Marie, she is just AMAZING and I purchase more plants there to just see her Wonderful smile!! She is a Lovely young lady and just makes my Day so Much Happier!! Thank you Stater Bros for hiring such Wonderful Employees!!

How Do You Have 2 Checkouts Open on a Sunday?!…read more 5 Stars for the bakery team: They were fantastic, efficient, and kept their line moving. Zero stars for front-end management: The checkout process was an absolute nightmare. The Scene: Sunday morning, the store and parking lot were packed. You'd assume a store would staff accordingly for its busiest day. The Problem: Despite the chaos, only two standard checkout lanes were open. The express lane was closed, forcing customers with full carts and those with just one or two items into the same sluggish lines. The Result: I timed it. It took 16 minutes to get through the line to purchase one single item. This isn't an exaggeration; it's a failure of basic operational planning. Until management learns how to schedule properly, I cannot recommend this store to anyone. The frustration is not worth it.

One of the only grocers opened on Christmas day along with its siblings stores (Vons, etc) and I'm…read moregrateful! Definitely did not plan out the holidays as well as previous years, but we got everything we needed and at fairly reasonable prices... It is your store after all (or so the old slogan would say). Albertsons of the High Desert is located in Apple Valley in shared shopping center with Walmart, McDonalds, O'Reilly's auto part and Taco Bell off Hwy 18 aka Happy Trails Highway. The Albertson's has a US Bank store branch (closed for the holiday, but ATM available) as well as a Sav-on's pharmacy (closed every Monday). You can find all the essentials from bakery to floral to deli departments and all your essentials... Beer, Wine and Spirits being on the pharmacy side entrance along the wall (technically the last isle of the store)... Was really impressed with some of the deals going on in these isles... including closeout specials (which of course were mostly gone giving huge red tag markdowns). Being so close to the famous Route 66, you can find some fun collectibles, gifts and souvenirs as well as some touches of R66's history. Being the only major grocer in Apple Valley open on Christmas day, it was plenty busy, however the Albertson's Apple V crew kept things flowing and somehow with more than enough holiday cheer... though that one gentlemen in deli was extremely upset with a customer who was giving him the worst x-mas with nothing but hostility... She blamed him for the department not being open like the rest of the store even though he didn't work in that section. She made him list off who she could've spoken to earlier to see if the department was open... I guess there was a misunderstanding because the physical store was closing at 3/30pm that day, but the deli department wasn't open at all... But she took that out on him O.O even though he wasn't there in the morning and had just started his shift. It was pretty wild... Like the overall layout of the store itself.. I think it's a very Albertson's thing. A lot of refrigerated items you don't see as much in other chain grocers... Almost all the dairy as well as non-dairy was behind glass, like the frozen goods and beer. I use the Vons app when shopping here, but you can use any of the ones affiliated with Safeway, including Pavillons,... Same number and/or account across the board. Good customer service, plenty of parking, friendly security... Happy Holiday!

Today that I opened the…read morebag I looked to make sure the chorizo was good (because I've bought bad chorizo before and have returned it once before) I saw it was bad. I went to return it about 10 minutes ago and the guy was extremely rude. I was letting him know this wasn't the first time it's happened that the chorizo is bad. So he tells me then don't buy from us anymore. Then proceeded to weight the chorizo and say's there's some missing so I'm only giving you the balance of what you brought. I tell what do you mean I just opened it before coming here!? He says there's a piece missing the weight doesn't match so I'm only refunding you what's there. So I repeated myself I didn't take a piece I just opened it. That just means you guys stole from me. It only took me to say that for him to give me the full refund. But make sure to check their scale at the register to make sure it matches. They've charged me $23 before for astrand of chorizo before and I didn't think anything of it until today when the one strand was only $13.42 this time and it still didn't match their sticker. I know I'm no one and they don't care they lost me as a customer. Because he made it clear with his then don't buy from us comment, but just beware and make sure what's on the label matches the scale upfront. Not saying they're stealing but maybe they need to calibrate their scales or something.

The market has only been open a few weeks now and is currently still building their inventory so make a request if there is an item you would like. Square footage wise, this is the largest Asian market in the High Desert. I ran out of fish sauce which made it the perfect time to visit. They had two brands currently, "Squid Brand" and "Three Crabs." Both are quality brands of fish sauce. I chose the Squid Brand since I have not had this one since childhood. I look forward to using this for cooking and as a table condiment. I perused every aisle. There are also freezers for frozen foods and a refrigerator case for fresh vegetables and beverages. I got some Milkita candy and a package of coconut butter biscuits. Hopefully, more snacks will be available in the near future. I was gifted a bag of A Choy which is an Asian green also known as Taiwanese Lettuce. I later stir fried it with sliced garlic and fermented tofu (foo yee). It was delicious! I definitely plan on returning in the near future to see what other items are available. It is nice to be able to purchase Asian groceries without making the trip down the hill. There is also plenty of parking in the large lot.
