I was paying with cash and the girl working glared at me from across the checkout area. Staring me down like I was going to steal one of the two items I had. I rang them up and tried to put cash in not realizing that I forgot to hit "pay with cash." Instead of her coming over in a polite manner like she should have, she rushed over, shoved in front of my son and hit the buttons on the screen without saying a word. Then huffed and went back over to stand in her corner and stare people down. I have been here many many times and have never seen this girl. Her rudeness was completely unacceptable. She didn't say "welcome to five below" or bye or anything. I know for a fact the person working in that area always says something on the way in and on the way out. Maybe I'm being a Karen but the amount of money I spend in that place, I shouldn't be stared at like a common criminal and then get an attitude at check out. This is the first time that has ever happened. Hopefully management sees this and knows who I'm referring to.

Yet, after waiting for the "your buy is ready" text, I return to find they've selected maybe 5-7 items and offer me under $20. Frankly, it's not worth the time or gas to go there, nor the hour-long wait while they sort through your things. In my opinion, their prices are already on the high side for secondhand retail, and the selling process feels arbitrary. I'm not confident the young staff are truly trained in what to look for. If you're looking to sell, I'd recommend trying Clothes Mentor--they seem to be more fair and consistent. Or consider Poshmark, where you control the pricing and selection. Don't waste your time here!

The shop has a nice variety of decor, knickknacks, kitchenware, jewelry, collectibles, art books and lots of other stuff; they do not carry clothes, shoes and similar items. The thrift shop benefits the Summit Humane Society, so they have a nice selection of pet supplies and toys. I enjoy Happy Trails for the collectibles and art items. Over the years I have gotten a number of interesting items, recently I picked up a small carved Asian wood panel and a small replica Samuri helmet. I have also picked up pans, collectible pins and a backpack from Happy Trails. You can never be sure what they will have for sale, but they always have an interesting selection. They also have some really good high-end items most of which are up front near the register; they also usually have some nice antiques or vintage items. Overall prices are very reasonable especially because of the quality of the items they are offering. If you are in the area a stop at Happy Trails Thrift is well worth your time, they always have some fun items and great selection. Plus it is great to help support the Humane Society either by donating or buying something at the store. The staff at the store are wonderful and very friendly.
