I ordered two sausage, egg, and cheese sandwiches, an eggs Benedict platter, two egg and cheese sandwiches, and a cup of coffee. The young lady informed me that the coffee might get cold by the time I arrived, but I told her I had no problem with that since I was already on my way. She proceeded to repeat my order back to me and said, 'Thank you, we'll see you soon. Have a good day.' I thanked her and hung up. We arrived at St. Rocco's Bakery within 15 minutes. I waited in a long line, and as soon as a young man assisted me, I informed him that I was picking up a phone order for Veronica. He went to the kitchen and came back saying, 'They are working on your order right now.' I said perfect, and asked to add an extra coffee. He went to get the coffees and then checked back in the kitchen for my order. He came back out and asked, 'Are you sure you called the right location? There are no orders under Veronica being made.' I took out my phone and showed him the 10:32 AM call. I asked if it was their number, and he confirmed it was. I explained that I called, placed the order, and had it repeated back to me. He looked shocked. The chef then came out and asked another counter employee if she had taken the order. She didn't speak a word and just kept staring at the chef without acknowledging me. I got extremely aggravated by the situation, especially because no one apologized and no one offered to quickly make my breakfast. So, I just left. Sweeping floors , washing dishes . Then stuffing jelly dough nuts and folding apple turnovers ... This was what put my last 40+ years in the kitchen . I've been head chef at Saks Fifth Ave, The Milleridge Inn, US Blues and many other top quality restaurants . When someone writes one star because someone didn't kiss his tucuss that's wrong . And immature on his part . I doubt that was the owner . Regardless you won't beat the price , unless your only concerned with price . If your more interested in true ingredients with no substitutes ..... Landing Bakery is the best . That's from a lifetime leader , chef , trainer and owner of some of the best, most expensive high end restaurants in the area , NYC included . I have no interest or investment in the business . Other than when I want the best ingredients , handled and applied properly ....... I drive the 100 miles round trip ..... And I love every mile .... Going home ! Honey buns , cinnamon twists , jelly dough's , French cruellers ( to die for) Italian bread , rolls , oh my ! I can make myself crazy .... I'm now going tomorrow !
