I haven't been to this location since its past life as a BBQ place, but have been keen to visit Outlaw Saloon since they opened last year. The atmosphere is tight! Now the decor would be nuthin if the food were lousy, but here they do all right too! More than all right. I tucked into the rodeo burger, thick and juicy, well-seasoned and satisfying, with a side of excellent fries. The same could be said for the pork cowboy, a grilled pork chop with a crispy, slightly charred crust, topped with a melting pat of herb-seasoned butter. I wasn't crazy about the pork riblets which were kind of tough and chewy, and not at all spicy for Nashville hot. Next time I will opt for the wings. We happened upon an open mic night, and it must've also been a bike night as a bunch of bikers were gathered on the outside patio (didn't expect to see that in Chestnut Ridge, honestly). The atmosphere was very lively, and we enjoyed the amped up acoustic sets. Needless to say, it was a busy night, but service was not lacking. Our waitress Melinda was super sweet, and I think the owner(?) also came out to check on things. 4.5 stars but rounding up to 5 for aesthetics, ambiance, and cool folks. This is a fun place to hang. Next time, I wanna dress thematically. Yeehaw!

I like them very spicy, and they were a bit short there, but they were hot enough for most people, including my better half. We both ordered the rodeo burgers medium rare. These are a hefty half pound. They were charred on the outside, which is wonderful though the burger was closer to medium than medium rare. They have a huge selection of draft beer, whiskey and bourbon. I was very excited to see Defiant, which ordered. Through the blood, sweat, and tears, they were able to create an opportunity in Pearl River New York for the locals and non locals like me to enjoy some great drafts and bbq. I tried not to be the excited traveler right at the door, but luckily, Amy, the owner's wife, was willing to take a wayward traveler in to start enjoy their beers right as they opened. They have a book and beer book club to sip and read, cornhorn club and a large beer hall with music to jam out to. With the Full Auto Arena nearby, I would recommend mom chill here while the dads and sons let some steam off or if we all know Mom can show up anyone with some liquor courage. We were each charged $25.00 for our 2 drinks...no issues...where it gets nutty is the additional separate charges listed vaguely at $7 and $4. Now the complaint isn't about cost per se, but rather the sneakiness and seemingly dishonest approach by the bartender that was unnecessary. My wife questioned the charges and we were told some nonsense about having to up charge because it was a larger glass for a margarita and it doesn'tcome in a smaller glass...WTF? First off, she didn't ask for a larger glass. Next, why isn't there just a charge for a margarita at one price? If you only serve it in one size, why do you need an up charge on a taller glass? That was the explanation for the 7.00 charge, 3.50 for each drink she had. The 4.00 charge I couldnt even make sense out of ... she explained that it was because margarita's have more than 1 liquor so she had to add an additional liquor fee. What in the holy hell is going on with the pricing for this drink???? So now as far as I can understand we have a $12.50 FLAT fee for a margarita according to its initial charge on the check. Then 3.50 extra for each drink because it is served ONLY in a pint glass... and a $2.00 per drink for extra liquor because more than 1 type of alcohol was put in the Margarita... so now a $12.50 Margarita on the menu becomes an 18 dollar upsell when no one asked for anything larger or additional, other than the way it should be poured according to the drink menu... it was sneaky, underhanded and it made us feel like we were targeted as unsuspecting patrons who wouldn't be back again and the upcharge didn't matter.
