I am a former chef who worked at expensive restaurants, so I am an expert. No pork products are allowed here for religious reasons, so there are no pork sausage, pork bacon, or pork pepperoni toppings for the pizzas, just awful tasting turkey versions thereof. Boo and yuck! Plus, the pizza sauce tastes weirdly bright and salty -- and like the tin can from which it came. The crust is bland and dry. The cheeses are actually above average tasting but muted by the other ingredients. None of the other menu items contain pork, so this joint loses me for that reason alone. I demand REAL bacon, sausage, and pepperoni, not the politically correct turkey kinds. The service is polite but very slow, the prices relatively high, and the store clean if old and worn out. Parking is convenient and plentiful. The shopping center and neighborhood are gorgeous and safe. Hundreds of interesting stores are within walking distance. Flavor is what counts so this establishment gets one star for that and three stars for the service and neighborhood. read more

I have to write a review because they were so amazing to us today. Service alone deserves 5 stars. We were having a birthday at the movie theatre and didn't call ahead to reserve. They were so accommodating and wonderful. We ordered pizzas and they cut them double for us for the kids. They had 2 liters and gave us cups and ice. They had these zepolis - funnel cake bite things (pizza dough w powdered sugar); it was $2.95 for a whole plateful! I even ordered some pasta, which came with a salad. The garlic knots were also good. I had planned a party there previously but the movie theatre was closed that day due to a fire and they called me to let me know about the movies early so I didn't have kids arriving to a closed theatre. So extra bonus points. I ordered chicken Piçatta. My mom ordered eggplant parm. He said the chicken parm was really good and a lot of people order chicken Marsala for catering (good to know). He said the penne vodka was also popular. Super great guys working here. They were so patient and helpful. So we will do it again (I will let them know ahead of time). They said they would've rearranged tables for us. Great to meet here pre or post movie. The fries were even the good krinkly ones and they were cooked perfectly and had a nice crunch. I discovered this restaurant shortly after the pandemic ended. The atmosphere reflects a small family business that pays attention to quality and service. Their pizza is excellent, as is the eggplant parm; nice fresh ingredients. It's one of a handful of restaurants in Mandarin that I visit weekly. If I went into Dulce Pizza with a blindfold on and only tasted their food without sight of its surroundings, it would definitely have another star after its name. Yet, blessed with sight, the worn and crumby surfaces and poor condition of the shopping center where it is located, impact my overall impression negatively and detract from what would otherwise be a surprisingly good meal. My first choice for dinner was the place next door, but its kitchen closed at 3 and they were locking up shortly. I saw Dulce and headed over. It looked like any other pizzeria, with pies in the oven and a small dining room with tubular chairs with holes in the seats and crumbs from earlier meals still laying around. This joint would never be mistaken for clean. It somehow reflected the poorly maintained condition of the shopping center, which had some of the largest parking lot potholes imaginable. A few customers were sitting around manging, so I took a chance and asked for an eggplant parmesan dinner with side salad and pasta. I ordered and paid at the cashier and took a seat near the front window to await it's arrival. I wasn't feeling too enthused about what might be coming my way, but I had already paid, so I was committed. The salad came first with balsamic, romaine, tomato, red onion, black olives, cukes and that little plastic tub of dark brown viniagrette. It was cool and fresh. Not great, but not bad. The main platter arrived next with a red sauce covered load of very thin sliced, breaded and sauteed melanzone. The gravy was chunky and seemed to shine in the natural light from the window. I lowered my head to get a wiff of the steaming sauce. Its crushed tomato, garlic and basil aroma forced me back in my chair from its powerful scent. What?! Wait a second. Was there someone in the kitchen who knew from red sauce? Must have been because when I forked that first bite into my mouth, it completely took charge of my taste buds, squeezed them hard, and forced me to involuntarily mutter, "Damn!" It was that exceptional. The eggplant was soft and totally baked, without a hard spot to be found. It tasted like it might have been sauteed twice before reaching the oven. Then I tried the penne aglio olio I had requested rather than spaghetti with more red. It was also very good with a surfeit of sliced garlic throughout and a pool of extra virgin in the bottom of the bowl keeping it hot and dripping. A dusting of black pepper, romano and dried parsley on top provided the finishing note. Also, way better than expected. Of course they forgot the bread to complete my total confounding. What to do when the grub is better than good, but the facility and surroundings cry out for some TLC? Wear a blindfold and eat. read more

This place is sooo delicious! I've always been in the area, but never tried it. I saw they were listed on GrubHub and their menu seemed very large, so I decided to try it! We ordered the Shrimp Scampi with Angel Hair and extra Parmesan cheese, a side Caesar salad with extra Caesar dressing, small order of Zeppoles, 2 liter Cherry Pepsi, Garlic Knots with extra marinara, 1 BBQ Chicken cheesesteak sandwich with provolone cheese (chopped fine), and 2 mini cannolis. The food was absolutely delicious!!! We may make this our go to spot!! The only reason I'm giving it four stars and not five is because 1.) We ordered a Cherry Pepsi and was given a regular Pepsi and 2.) I never got a text from GrubHub saying the order was on the way, or a status update that the food was delivered (it still says "In the Works" even though we've already received the food, ate it, cleaned up, watered plants, and did laundry...) This place needs to be removed from Grubhub if it is not going to hold true to deliveries and food. I will be receiving a refund, cancelled my order after an hour and a half of waiting I was extremely irritated and no longer hungry. I was told a 35-45min wait not over an hour and a half. Despite cancelling, 15 minutes later (1 hr 45mins) the order was delivered. None the less, food was cold, and not even the correct nor full order. The delivery guy was apologetic, but unfortunately that doesn't make up for the lack of communication on his or the restaurants poor service. I will no longer be using this business. read more

This is definitely a case of don't judge a book by its cover. The shopping center Dolce is located in is being renovated and looks terrible at the moment with all the old facades being torn down. The food inside this's place is outstanding and fresh, however. I had a lunch portion of Zuppa di Pesce (seafood pasta) and also grabbed a slice. Both were outstanding as was the homemade side of bread. Definitely recommend this place. The young 33 year old owner is from a restaurant family is knows how to create delicious food. Still delicious. I've been ordering here more often now that they are on Doordash. Some of my favorites include the Mozzarella Carrozza (grilled cheese bread with a side of mariana) Very comforting, as well as the garlic knots. I also like their pizza which is thin crust and well done. My favorite is the Margherita Pizza. They also make homemade pastas, and some of my favorites are the lobster ravioli, and the pasta carbonara made with gnocchi. It certainly isn't low fat food that's for sure but it's great comfort food and delicious for a once in a while treat. read more

When I walked out the door the manager chased me out and asked if I paid. Sure, simple question, but why would I walk out of a restaurant if I hadn't paid? Ordered at 9 on a Friday and saw my delivery was set to arrive at 10:10-10:20. Order finally came around 10:15 and both of my pizzas were wrong. The large pizza was supposed to be half pepperoni and the whole thing was. My small pizza was supposed to be white with ricotta and spinach and it was regular cheese pizza... I'm so confused. I had never eaten here before, but since it is relatively close to my house I thought I would try it. I ordered over the Grub Hub website. When I arrived at the restaurant to pick up my pizza there was no one at the counter. I stood around for two or three minutes, still no one, so I sat down. Waited another 5 minutes, still nobody. While I was sitting there waiting I had plenty of time to view the truly random items that they had displayed on the shelves for sale: a leaf blower, half a dozen sky lights, a carton of air filters, plastic flowers, and other junk that looked like it "fell off the back of a truck" if you get my drift. Finally the phone rang at the front desk and someone came out to answer it. I jumped up, and to his credit he put the caller on hold and waited on me first. Turns out my pizza was sitting on the passthrough window the whole time, unheated. I drove home and began to eat a piece of this cold pizza. The very bottom of the crust was cooked, but it was not cooked all the way through. Raw pizza dough is not appetizing. Tried it, hated it, won't be back. read more

I have 3 words for you: Eggplant Rollatini Pizza. The best pizza, by far, since I moved to Philadelphia from NYC almost 3 years ago. I'm only annoyed at myself for waiting this long to try them. This is the closest I've found to NY pizza. I also ordered a caprese salad which great. Fresh and generous ingredients. If the rest of their food is as good as these 2 items, I will never order from another place near me again. This place is apparently under new mgmt and it has gone downhill! Ordered a margherita pizza that was so soft that you could not even hold it to eat. The sauce tasted like just tomatoes out of a can. The zeppole was in a plastic container so all the powdered sugar melted into them. All inedible. I guess the deer in my backyard at least will be happy. Big nope for me. read more

Been passing by this pizzeria for year, stopped by to give it a shot. Ordered a regular cheese pie (the gold medal pizza), and I was very surprised. I'm updating my review... I was in love with this place, but no more. The last 2 times the pies I've ordered from here were foul. The time before those, their mozzarella carroza, which my Sicilian boss recommended I ordered (he grew up eating them in Queens) came out overly greasy and undercooked. Their Grandma pie was nothing like I've ever had in Brooklyn, Long Island or North Jersey. It was a cracker with some tomato sauce on it. Unless they tighten their game up and get back to basics and making better pizza, I'll make the trek over to Santucci's. Shame. read more

Such a great place! I'm originally from Philly, but now live in Atlanta (where there is no good Italian food). I came to visit family and went to Cafe Dolce for dinner. It was really good. I had penne w/shrimp, my mom had chicken parm. The portions are perfect (not too big, not too small) and the prices are beyond reasonable. The guys that run the restaurant are all really sweet and customer service oriented. It doesn't hurt that they'll all pretty cute too ;) I will definitely be back next time I'm in town. P.S.
