Everything is so delectable I could easily eat 7 of them myself without blinking. I highly recommend this bakery, everything is fresh and made with real care. The owner is one of a kind and truly cares about each and every customer. The brownies and cookies are all moist and so scrumptious. The potency is top notch. Originally went to Haverstraw for some dining, unfortunately the original plan fell through. Walked…read morearound town a little, found some interesting shops but then bumped into this place. It was fascinating! Looking through the front window, I had to go in and look at the chocolate wares, the chocolates on the shelves looked delicious. Guess what, they were! I was intrigued by the interior, it reminded me of an old west shop. Meeting the owner we decided to sit and have some wine, which was delightfully paired with a chocolate. Let me tell you, it was "sweet" no pun intended. The owner and I started conversing and it was like an episode from the discovery channel. The building was over 100 years old and the shop has been in chocolate business for over a hundred years. We discussed a bit of Haverstraws brick history, the geography, the roads. It was really a good time. I saw a small stage and was informed they had Kareoke, for me that's an amazing invite to sing. Well, I came back it was one special night Wine chocolates and songs What an incredible combination! Look if your into history, if your into chocolates this is definitely the spot. But if you can sing too, don't miss it Come as you are and celebrate a gem in haverstraw

We were actually in town for sightseeing my childhood stomping grounds. And my wife wanted to see two places my mother talked about... the brick museum and Lucas Candy store. We went on a rainy Sunday, but had a great experience. The streets were closed down for a festival with food and shows. There were vendors on the street and the restaurants were also serving food on the street. We headed to Lucas' sat down for music and drinks. I had a beer with a complimentary paired chocolate and my wife had a frozen hot chocolate, it was super, service was excellent and fast, and they had an outstanding musician playing solo. I think the owners do a great job, both were present, talkative, and friendly. We hit the brick museum and came back to Lucas' to shop. We got Christmas gifts out of the way. They have a very creative and tempting selection of candy. Alcohol is expensive everywhere, but the chocolate prices are very fair here. I hope for their continued success. They have a nice location with lots of good restaurants nearby. We'll be ordering online, but if we're ever back in town, this is on our bucket list.

Over the past few years Sleepy Hollow has had a real resurgence. The space is a gorgeous mid century inspired candy shop that looks like it was designed by a professional interior design team but in reality it's solely the brainchild of former film producer, Kate Bolger. The majority of the shop is dedicated to self-serve candy by the pound (a flat rate of $22/lb) but they also have a good deal of prepackaged goodies, some higher end chocolates & candies behind the counter, and even a small selection of nostalgic toys and gifts. I was there during the incredibly packed opening day where she was giving away free cotton candy and sweets to customers waiting in line to get in. She even had Rhonda Kave (aka Roni-Sue) from Manhattan lending a helping hand for the special occasion. As far as I know The Village Confectionery is the first shop outside of NYC that you can find Roni-Sue's chocolates. Because they don't make their own candy, that leaves extra time to thoughtfully curate the best sweets from around the world to offer their customers. What you'll find here is a selection of super unique candy you'd be hard pressed to find anywhere else. From nostalgic options you thought were a thing of the past (like candy cigarettes) to European favorites like Bub's candies out of Sweden. You can go anywhere for a bag of M&Ms or a Snickers bar. Kate's not just selling you cliche candy, she's selling an experience of discovering something new or finding something you haven't seen in years. The service here is as classy as the environment. They may have the old fashioned vibe down but rest assured they do take cards and are modern when it counts. The only thing you'll struggle to find is a parking spot. I can't wait to see what kind of goodies and decorations they'll pull out for spooky season this fall.
