a display case full of donuts

Pulled off the Taconic for a zoom call and as the call ended I was thinking it's time for a sweet treat. I look up and boom Dolce Italian Bakery. The decor, doesn't matter... The sweat treats....amazing..... The chocolate covered cannoli was my favorite and I will admit the box of Italian cookies never made it home. Coffee wasn't available

Dolce's cannolis are out of this world and are reminiscent of DeLillo's (Bronx bakery) with the little chocolate chips in them.

We've been here twice as we live relatively close. While the selection isn't abundant, the quality…read moremore than makes up for it. These cookies are pure magic! Perfectly crisp on the outside and doughy on the inside! We tried the cheesecake on our second visit and as someone who really isn't a fan of cheesecake, this one completely won me over! It was the airiest, lightest cheesecake I've ever had! It had a light vanilla taste, not overpowering in the least. absolutely delicious! They also sell cinnamon buns but we haven't enjoyed those...yet! The owner is extremely kind and loves to hear about our area as he's just moved up here from NYC. It's a definite, must stop! It's in a pretty rural area so for most it will be a destination stop but so worth it!

How can anyone resist in checking this place out when it's name is "World's Best Dough"? We…read morecertainly couldn't, so here we are. They have a good size outdoor space but surprisingly the inside is not that big. A few tables and chairs, but mostly a large display window for all of the large scrumptious cookies and ordering counter. They just opened not too long ago so only offers cookies. There would be more on the menu, like cinnamon buns and cheese cakes. The cookie will run you $6.50 per cookie, a bit steep but it seems that everything is nowadays. I do have to admit that the cookie is BIG and THICK. The server said each cookie weights 0.5 lb! You can definitely share one between a couple of people. We got a white chocolate snicker doodle and a chocolate Nutella cookie. They come in a nice paper box and the cookies are still warm when you bite into them!!! Soft, Gooey, Decadent!! Every bite is yummy, chewy goodness!!! Highly recommend to try for yourself. They should really serve these cookies with a glass of milk or tea. I would totally give it 5Stars if it wasn't for the steep price. But, of course I'll be back to try their cinnamon buns and cheese cakes when they are available!! Come check it out and satisfy your sweet tooth.

LOCATION: on the tiniest Main Street I know Adorable…read more"downtown " Wappingers Falls, NY in the beautiful Hudson Valley, just 12 minutes from Metro North's New Hamburg station on the Hudson River ( green) line from Grand Central Station, NYC. I mentioned this cute little town because it's just one of the little niches along the Hudson river that makes a perfect little day trip. FIRST IMPRESSIONS: really quaint storefront, and first impression.Enter through the cafe door which also functions as a retail shop for handmade objects like soaps, etc. The gifts have an upscale vibe-worth a trip back. We had about 15 minutes to kill before attending a Yelp event across The Street so we opted to take the chill off by purchasing a hot beverage at Norma's. The staff is pretty laid-back, friendly, but laid-back. If you're in a hurry, I'm not sure if this would work. The hot and cold beverages are very straightforward and you can get some vegan options here. There were two behind the counter, but I felt they were a little engaged in their personal banter and we're not that attentive. Not a real sense of urgency or purpose. I'm sorry if that sounds harsh but once they did give us their full attention, we let them know that we were waiting for an event across the street and didn't have a lot of time. They asked us if we'd like to sit down with our beverage and we opted to do so since it was pretty cold outside. We ordered two hot chocolate And two homemade biscuits. They gave us a table number stanchion for the table and let us know they would be bringing it to us. We did not need to wait. We took the three steps down to the main dining area, where we were pleasantly surprised that they were having a live event - in this case it was a storytelling event. There was a table available for the two of us so we sat down and quickly realized that the table was so off-balance that it post a potential safety hazard. When I placed my hot chocolate down and rested my wrist, the entire table tilted forward toward me. This is an easy thing to fix, but my guess is that it's been this way for a really long time. That's unfortunate. All that aside, the room was really cozy and had a lot of character - lots of two top and four top tables to provide a very intimate setting with each one having a good view of the small stage Minutes went by and there was no biscuit delivered. More minutes went by and we began to wonder if they had forgotten. I guess is that they weren't making the biscuits from scratch so most likely they did forget. Since we had already paid for everything with a pretty generous tip, we waited a a few more minutes. Time ran out when we noticed that the event attendees were lining up across the street. That's something we could see from the really great big windows that faced Main Street. Reluctantly, my sister and I got up from the table and headed to the counter where we had made the order. We let them know that we needed to go and asked if the biscuits were ready. They seemed perplexed at first and then a lightbulb moment. Yes. I suspect they did forget the order. I wouldn't bother so much but two biscuits and two hot chocolates. It was about $20 plus tip so when they recognized that the biscuits were still missing, they asked if we would like to take them to go. The lack of awareness was disappointing because they were clearly not busy with anything else A minute or two later, they emerged from the kitchen with a small bag, presumably containing the two biscuits. Service was definitely lacking, particularly for what is a bit of a higher priced venue. Maybe we caught them on an off night but my sense is that laid back attitude is built in to the business model. Would I return to Norma's? I'm not sure. The hot chocolate was good, not from a mix, but would it bring me back? I'll let you know.
