She really loves it back there, she used to get intimidated by other dogs before she went to DogSpot that's why it was a surprised to me when she kept trying to go back inside. We just this month entrusted our elderly pup for three days with DogSpot, and from everything I can tell they took wonderful care of him. Sometimes when our dog has boarded elsewhere, he's been kind of amped up when he's returned to us. But in this case he seemed completely mellow, looking and acting as if nothing out of the ordinary had occurred. Later I saw on his report card that DogSpot had made sure to give him occasional time out from the other dogs due to his age -- they recognized that constant play would not have worked well for him at his advanced age. We were nervous to take our newly rescued 5 year old Husky/Shepherd mix Niko or as the attendants at Dog spot calls him " Mr. Niko" lol. This is our first time as dog parents and didn't know how to introduce him to other dogs and we went to one day care before this that had said he wasn't a good fit not because he was aggressive but stand offish. So we didn't know if he would be like that always so we reached out to his foster mom who had recommended DOG SPOT and thankfully she did! The temperament test was amazing we loved how transparent their facility is, they even have cameras you can log into so you can watch your dog when your not there and really get to see their personality show. We loved how friendly the attendants are and how involved Carlene is we can tell she really cares about her business and the dogs that go there including Niko. What we also love about them is they really remember ALL the dogs names now that is awesome! I also can't forget to mention their high energy they sure can definitely can keep up with Niko. (See photos) A scratch or a bite even is expected but a hole in the side of our dogs body 100% is no expected and not ok! Beware what you are signing up for. This happened yesterday at Dog spot in Oceanside. Their response to this was oh he was probably roughhousing with another dog or they slid for a ball and he caught himself on the chain link fence! Both NOT ok!!! Our Dog is super sweet, runs with the ball in his mouth all day and if another dog is aggressive he bows away. This wound is a huge concern and the establishment could care less. I even asked the owner for the video footage from the day so we can see what happened after she refused to look over it herself and she said absolutely not! What is the point do the cameras then? They have way to many dogs there with not enough staff to watch over them. We have hopped on the cams to check on our boy from time to time and caught some not so nice events happening such as a dog grabbing the throat of our dog and throwing him to the ground and dogs humping! You bring this to the staff and they just say oh they are just playing, that's what dogs do! I have been on the fence about this place since our dog came back with pneumonia and we asked the staff numerous times to give him a long break mid day whether he wanted to or not. They tell us he takes many little breaks during the day but we never seem to see him off camera when we check in online. Carlene the owner is not a pleasant person to deal with at all unless everything is going golden. Don't expect any apologies or them to cover the vet bill because it's not happening. Thank goodness we have insurance. Beware of this place. We were warned by our other daycare about them and we thought it was just about competition but no they were in fact right. Sure you will see yelp reviews about this place being great... look at how they handle dogs injured in their establishment. Our dog loves that day care. He is an Aussie so for us, it is very important he gets enough exercise. The stuff greets him warmly each time we drop him off, remembering his name, even though he is not a regular dog there. We boarded our fluffy boy there too. The sleeping arrangements made it easier for him to feel at home since he could sleep TOGETHER with the stuff member. If your dog is super active, that is the place for your dog! I can not say enough good things about this place. I waited about two months of my dog going there to write this review. One thing I love is that they have cameras!!! I am very particular about my dog and who I leave him with. I am able to check in several times throughout the day and see what my pup is doing, this makes me more at ease. The staff at Dogspot is phenomenal! Every time I walk in with Dexter they are excited to see him and most of them know his name! When I come to pick him up they know who I am looking for. I can see from the window the staff are not just standing inside with the dogs they are actively playing with the dogs and engaging them. I have signed my dog up for boarding for a full week in November which I was super nervous about initially but am very confident. I've been using dog spots services for about a year and a half for my dog. Everything WAS great that is until the owner stopped coming around for personal reasons as of recently 11/01/23. Then they started crating my dog and trying to sell me on training when there was never a problem before. My dog starting becoming gassy instead of excited howling when I would take him here. I asked for the owners contact and the lady "in charge" told me "NO" that she was in charge. Very unprofessional responses, whoever would leave this child in charge is either insane, or doesn't know the way she's treating costumers. Since I don't have the owners contact information to try and resolve the issue I'm just gonna leave this review so they can see it the owner is completely awesome by the way. The owner is part of the reason I felt so comfortable leaving my dog here to begin with. Change of staff will fix it. When there's one bad apple in the basket it creates this sort of toxic environment and it infects the other employees working there too. The lady in the front told me about crating my dog for cool downs or whatever. Then when I asked the lady "in charge" she told me that they never crate my dog ,then I confronted her and told her what the girl at the desk told me ,then she begin to explain that sometimes they do blah blah blah. Backpedaling because she just got caught in a lie. I don't pay to have him crated, I could do that at home. My dog was never an issue until the owner left. DogSpot has some people to fire before I EVER return. KEEP IN MIND THIS IS RECENT BEHAVIOR FROM 10/15/23-11/05/23. Before these dates and the owners disappearance this place had five stars for sure. I LOVE dog spot!! I have been taking my puppy to doggy daycare here for the last six months and my puppy loves it! My dog gets so excited once we get into the plaza where the daycare is because she knows dog spot is a fun place where she can run and play with her doggy friends. I really enjoyed that I was able to go back and observe my dog get introduced to the play areas along with the addition of one dog at a time. I really enjoy the fact that there is always a supervising person in the play area with the dogs all day. I can also watch my dog play and have fun on the free app called Watch Me Grow, which is so great because if I'm out of town I can always take a look there to check on her. I feel that this company really has a great business model, I have zero complaints and I believe that al my concerns I might have are always listened to (my dog never sits down so when I asked them to pull her for breaks they were happy to do so). All new dogs have to go through a temperament assessment session with a qualified trainer before being accepted into the Dogspot family. I'm glad I found this place on Yelp! We have a 15 week old German Shepherd puppy. I was looking at places that offer overnight boarding as we will be going on a trip soon and we decided to not take him with us. I contacted DogSpot and was told that he needs to pass a temperament test first to make sure he gets along with the other dogs in the group. We went this morning. I had to fill out some paperwork for him and they quickly brought him to the back to get him acquainted with the other dogs and play area. I had to stay for the first 15 minutes to make sure everything was going good. Being this was his first time with other dogs without us around, he was extremely shy but the staff was great at helping him break out of his shell. Before you know it, I looked on the webcam and saw him trotting around with the other dogs. I felt like a proud mom. :) And since he passed his temperament test, I can drop him off anytime for daycare without having to make an appointment. Absolutely the best place we've found in North County and possibly all of San Diego. We've been taking Sr. Butters to DogSpot for over 1.5 years now and we have yet to be disappointed. The attendants always greet you with a smile, and they do their best to take your pup from you in the mornings quickly, and also get him back in the evening just as quick. In the yard, they do an amazing job of keeping the dogs engaged, and give them breaks when needed. The attendants do their very best to keep the place clean, and give lots of rubs and love to all the dogs. For Boarding, they do just as great of a job by having an attendant at all times to make sure the dogs are sleeping well, even on holidays! After I drop Butters off, I'm at peace knowing that they will take great care of him.The only reason I would stop taking my dog here is if I have to move. We have been looking for a place to board our dogs for a really long time. Unfortunately we don't have any family suitable for watching our larger, high energy dogs. Thanks to Yelp I discovered the DogSpot. I checked out their website and reached out to them. The owner, Carlene, sent me a very detailed email with all of the information I needed (this information is also readily available on their website which is nice). One of the front office girls contacted me and we set up a time the following week for Rita and Dexter to be evaluated. The process was clearly laid out in advance and when we arrived they greeted our dogs by name. I had to fill out paperwork and they quickly brought the dogs back, informing us that she would return to bring us back to peek at our dogs. While we were in the waiting room a dog arrived and this dog could not contain his excitement at being there. I asked the dogs owner if his dog was a regular and he said he brings Cody a few times a week for doggie daycare. Cody was clearly a fan of the DogSpot! We were brought back and got to see our dogs in the smaller yard where they were being gradually introduced to other dogs. Dexter was in his element, running and wanting to be set loose in the big yard. Our Rita, a timid rescue (we are sure she was abused prior to us adopting her) was subdued and sniffing at the exit door probably wondering what was going on with this new situation. The worker informed me that they would need to be there for at least 3 hours for the evaluation but that they could stay up to 6 hours for free (she offered to let them stay until 4 that day because they were busy with a lot of evaluations). Score for me and my pups as I had a busy day and otherwise my pups would be home alone. Before we left she gave me the information I needed to be able to view their live webcams. I checked up on the dogs later that morning and saw Dexters white body whizzing back and forth. Rita was ambling along, tongue lolling out, smiling and her tail constantly wagging in full helicopter motion. I was satisfied my dogs were happy and safe. When I picked them up I just had to tell them I was there for Rita and Dexter and mere minutes later there collars and leashes were back on and they were brought to the front. The girl working the front desk told me they had checked their paws as it was their first day and some dogs get sore, possibly injure there paws if they aren't used to running for hours on end. Totally understandable and my dogs paws were fine as they are walked often. I was also told that I would be getting a report card the next day letting me know how their first day went. I was looking forward to those report cards and, as stated, they were in my inbox the following day. Both report cards were surprisingly long and detailed and had me laughing at how spot on they were describing my pups. Each employee that interacted with the dogs commented on their day and Carlene also provided detailed information which reflected how truly in tune she is with dogs. The motto of DogSpot seems to be "dogs come first" and it truly showed. I am planning on bringing my pups back to be boarded for 4 nights. Carlene, Andrea, Brandi, and everyone that works there are so caring and nice! Every time you come in, they get super excited to see your pups and it warms my heart. I work long hours, having this option for my doggos is wonderful! They always come home happy and tired from a long day of playing. They have cameras so you can check In and watch them play. If you board them overnight, they never use crates or cages. They have dog slumber parties and set out dog beds and futons, AND the attendant is there all night sleeping with your pups! They always provide a report card after boarding to let you know how your dog did. Today was my first time ever dropping off my 7 month old Frenchie ANYWHERE so I was nervous for how it would go - my last dog had such a hard time with these things at a different place back in Florida. I was only dropping him off as a test since I needed to find a place to board him for a night this weekend. From the second we walked in the staff were super friendly, smiling, assuring me he'd be fine (I think it was harder for me than him). They do a temperament test first to make sure all dogs in the daycare are friendly with other dogs, so I watched from behind a mirror as my pup walked in. The staff seemed so knowledgeable. And my favorite parts: 1. I checked in on him all day via an app on my phone. The video wasn't high quality or anything but it was good enough for me to see my pup running around with the staff and other dogs. 2. The dogs have a huge open play area, separated by size, that they're in ALL day. They do cage free boarding too (which my Frenchie will be in this Saturday), which is awesome especially since there is always a staff person with them. 3. After we left, I received a report card that all the staff who played with him wrote comments in about his stay (picture uploaded to the page). I loved hearing that he loved it and they loved him. 4. Most importantly, my rambunctious little man passed out the second I put him in the car. Id recommend this place to anyone, and I'm going to try to drop my fur baby off once a week just for fun. Panicking, I called Dog Spot knowing very well that their rules are to have the dog dropped off before noon in order to board them overnight. Without hesitation, they offered to take my dog in as soon as I could get him there with no issues. Let me start off by saying, I am definitely one of those pet owners who are a little obsessed with their pets. That being said, I am very particular about where I board my little maltipoo, Bori. I used to take him to the Mission Valley Pooch hotel, but since moving to Carlsbad, was really not liking the far drive to take him there. During my search of the perfect boarding facility for my precious child (I mean dog...) I came across Dog Spot on yelp and due to all the rave reviews, decided to give it a try. Dog Spot requires a temperament test before the first boarding which is nice because you know that they don't just accept any ole dog. If you go during the week, 6 hours of daycare is free! How awesome is that?! They let you watch while your dog is being introduced slowly to other dogs their size and then eventually dogs of all sizes. It's definitely a cool process to witness. Thankfully Bori did great! Bori and I felt very welcome the minute we stepped through those doors. You can really tell that everyone that works there cares a lot about all the dogs and makes it a point to learn their names. This all made me quite happy and I would have given them 5 stars just based on this first experience, but what really made me rush over to yelp to give them a glowing review is the report card I just received detailing his stay. I am OBSESSED with this feature! I never want to be the crazy parent who is asking all the details about their dog when they only stayed 1 night, but with the report card, I didn't have to! I couldn't imagine anyone leaving anything less than 5 stars. This place has literally saved me. I rescued my dog, Diego, about a year and a half ago from a shelter in Temecula. He was ABSOLUTELY TERRIFIED of everyone and everything, given he was abandoned on the side of the road. I did my own little training at home for 3 months or so, until I knew something had to be done about his anti-social self. I brought him to Dog Spot (recommended by one of my friends who brought her dog there too) and I felt like a mom dropping her kid off at school for the first day. I was terrified for him, not knowing how he would react. Turns out he did great! I love love love that it is cage free. The staff is over the top, out of this world, amazing. Not only do they try and get to know you, but they legitimately know your dog. They write report cards for the first day at daycare, and also have cameras to watch your dog throughout the day. (Of course I stalked my phone all day watching Diego run around and play, tearing up the entire time). We are to the point now that I drop him off just for shits & gigs so he can get energy out. He LOVES it there, loves the other dogs, and loves the staff. He doesn't suffer from anxiety or anti-socialism anymore. He's become such a great boy thanks to Dog Spot it's incredible. I can't thank everyone there enough for how much it has helped both me and Diego. A few weeks ago I just adopted another little guy, Charley, who we will soon be bringing in to Dog Spot, too. TLDR: Dog care seems ok, not sure what you'd expect. Dogs are indoors all day, no great place to go to the bathroom. The big problem here is there unethical financial practices. Read below for more. So DogSpot has been our go-to dog daycare for the last 6 months. We're a military family and they offer a military discount. That's great and much appreciated, of course they don't have to do that so we were very grateful for their policy. Recently they made a change to the policy where you have to tell the staff every time you pick your dog up that you're military or you wont get the discount. They sent an email out explaining the reason and I remember it did kind of make sense. So I went to go pick up our dog and I told them we're military. The lady working the front desk said "F*ck I already charged you. I can put a note on your account so you get the discount the next time". That seemed weird to me because that's they policy they just changed, no auto discount. Anyway, I said that's fine and can we get the discount for today applied retroactively. Another lady came out of the back saying they don't do retroactive refunds. I told her this isn't for a different day or anything this is from 5 seconds ago. She said it didn't matter. Now any thinking person would work out quickly the business should have a procedure for checking out customers. Confirming they're about to be charged in case there are any questions. But thinking any further about the issue was out of the question. I said, well that's fine we'll just cancel our account. That policy didn't sit well with me. She said she could talk to the owner about it, and I said ok that's fine. She went to the back (8 feet away) and asked the owner if she wanted to consider the issue. She did not. So that's that, we canceled our account. This is a fine enough option for daycare, our dog never had any problems other than holding her pee all day. But those sketchy business practices in regards to customers drove us away. Good luck with this place or whatever option you find. read more

The Dog spot is amazing! This is my dogs second home! My dog has been attending their daycare for the past two years! The staff is incredibly engaging with the animals and owners. They genuinely care about the animals and take time to play and love on your animal. I fully trust their staff and my dog feels incredibly loved when he is here. He cannot wait, practically jumping out of my car to go back to play for another day. I did receive an email from the owner. She is acting like my dog was kicked out and that's why I'm suddenly bringing up these issues. That's a complete lie. Nobody ever told me my dog wasn't allowed back. I removed him when I found out he was being out in a crate and requested refunded for the remainder of the package that wasn't used. Nobody ever said he was biting necks and whatever else you said to paint him to be some vicious dog, that's ridiculous. He's only a year old. I was told he was being "a bit of a bully but no big deal" and asked if I wanted to let them put a shock collar on him. Never would I agree to that. Nowhere in the contract do they mention timeouts in a crate or flanking the dogs. And I have not been properly refunded I was charged for 5 days when he was there 4, it has not been corrected. Also, I think it's important for current or potential customers there to be aware of the way the owner handles being told about employees mistreating the dogs. I didn't record the incident with my dog but I did give her the exact date and time of the incident so she has access to that and is more than welcome to post it here as an example of what they do. Last year a customer did record an employee body slamming her dog and the recording is likely the only reason he was let go. The owners response is very light considering the situation. She will defend her employees no matter what unless you have video evidence and she has no other choice but to admit wrong doing. The contract should indicate that dogs will be crated,flanked, or put on a lead should the attendant deem necessary. Could not be happier with DogSpot! When we relocated from San Diego to Oceanside, we had to begin the annoying process of finding a new doggie daycare. A good one that just gets it is so hard to find! We tried out a handful of doggie daycares in our area, and DogSpot came out the hands down winner. Added bonus is that isn't less than two miles from our new place, which means some days I can even walk to pick them up! DogSpot has some of the best hours in the area, opening early on weekdays (6 a.m.) and closing at 8 p.m. They're overnight rates are great and they do both multiple dog and military discounts. And speaking of overnights, it's crate free, although they do set out kennels in case the dogs want a little private time. The caretaker is there with them all night and the dogs can even cuddle up on the couch with him/her! After every overnight stay, the dog gets a report card where all of the employees and owner let you know the play-by-play of its time at DogSpot. I love reading how much they love our pups and their antics and it's great to have that little insight into who they are when the owners aren't around. Added bonus when my husband is away on business is that I can forward the emails to him and he can feel like he's here, too! They're webcams are fabulous! It's so great to be able to look in and see how your dog's day is going. But also, it lets you see how much interaction the caretakers have with the dogs throughout the day. They're always running around with the dogs and playing ball with them and keeping them entertained. It's especially nice when a new dog comes into the play area, because it diffuses attention of the new arrival. The best part, though, is how much everyone who works here generally loves their job and these dogs. They always have the biggest smiles when we walk through the door and they just love hanging out with our crazy dogs. It's such a relief knowing they're not only in capable hands, but also in the hands of people who genuinely love dogs. Everyone that works at Dog Spot is so amazing !! They really love and care immensely for your fur babies. My boy Mavie is normally a misunderstood rescue dog but he loves it there and he loves who works there. He is so excited and ready to leave me the moment we arrive. Hands down the best doggy day care around. They have extremely friendly and knowledgeable staff. They all ,including the incredible owner, care and love your furry friend so much. I was on a travel nurse contract in the area and this was the only spot that had business hours that fit my nurse schedule. They took such good care of my 1.5 year old Weimaraner Hank. Hank loves hanging out with all his friends while I was at work. They are very attentive here and pay close attention to your dog and give your dog breaks as needed. They also keep a close eye on your dogs paws and put protective socks on them to protect their paws from redness. They even took extra care of Hank when he had an injured paw from a weekend dog sitter- I should've just boarded Hank at Dogspot. They even called/emailed me and checked up on Hanks recovery. I called yesterday to see if I could get a tour of their facility, was told to come in the next day between 9am-11am, so I showed up around 10am. Now only this place smells when you first walk in but when I asked to get a tour, she said no because some dogs are napping in the break room and I can just look through the big glass window and she'll answer any questions. WTF?! I was specifically told yes on the tour and now I'm told to look through the glass window? Poor customer service, I will NEVER recommend this place. How can this place put little dogs and big dogs together?! I will stick with my other doggy day care. read more
