Angus graduating from Basic One at Doggie in the Window
    Heather S.

My dog, Angus, is OBSESSED with Doggie in the Window! He is so excited to come to daycare in the morning. I know he really enjoys his time there. In addition to loving daycare, we both had a great time at the Basic One obedience class. I can't wait to start Basic Two! I appreciate that Doggie in the Window doesn't except aggressive dogs. I think this show that they care more about the dogs than the money. I am so confident that my baby will be cared for well. The facility is clean. The staff are attentive and organized. This is the only place I would trust with my Angus.

I had really high hopes for taking my dog Sasha here…read more Unfortunately the experience fell very short. Let's start off with the most alarming (and yes, Sasha passed evaluation and was invited back): I tuned in to watch the camera in Room 1 from time to time and was disturbed every single time I dropped in to watch. 1. Another dog attempted to mount/hump her with no intervention from the staff member multiple times. I saw Sasha defend herself and push the other dog away with her paw at least twice. A pair of doodles actually ran up to intervene on one of the several occasions. 2. The hygiene of the play area is disgustingly atrocious. The dogs are allowed to urinate anywhere and everywhere. But what's worse is that a mop that just gets rung out gets used over and over and over again. Not rinsed or dipped in the bucket, just rung out and reused, Gross. I WATCHED this and was shocked. As soon as I picked her up, she smelled like she was drenched in stale urine. I immediately had to bathe her. And she's not a small dog! It was absolutely disgusting. Needless to say, highly inconvenient to need to bathe her right afterwards. 3. It was a beautiful day and one of the few left as we head into colder weather. The dogs got absolutely no outside time. What was the actual point in telling new customers about these outdoor features that none of the dogs were able to access. 4. Sasha is not new to dog daycare and does very well socially. Dogs in general are fairly intelligent. Sasha sat off to the corner by herself (as did a few other dogs, so not bizarre), but I noticed the dog monitor never approach or greet Sasha. Only walking past slinging a pee soaked mop and obviously counting down the dread of her job. The body language and lack of engagement, enthusiasm, and energy was incredibly apparent. Read: ppl that do the job to get a check vs enjoy working with pets. 5. This place inside reminds me of those tv prison yards. Perhaps I'm guilty of being overly attentive, but when it's a new place, I'm careful and vigilant. Quite a few of those dogs looked so so depressed. As though they were serving a prison sentence. And yes, there were also quite a few that seemed very cheery w/ a playful demeanor. But this tells me that the dogs are not properly evaluated for either the rooms or needs private play. Which leads me wondering... is this place just a cash grab??? 6. I prefer authenticity over the performative. Both individuals that I met were nice (check in/out), but it felt super manufactured. It was actually odd. Like if I had a dial, I would have turned the forced overt loud kindness from a 10 to 6. It's 2025, just be genuine. 7. The report card is BS. I purposely made no mention of what I saw, bc I wanted to get their version of the evaluation. But after receiving... "[Sasha was a bit nervous, initially, but maintained confidence with a regal like manner...]" -- what is that?!?! Maybe instead just say, Sasha was a bit nervous, she had no issues interacting with the other dogs, but she preferred being alone the majority of the time, we noticed another dog pestering her, she was quiet, but perhaps she will warm up with more visits." Conclusion: this place served the bare minimum. If you're looking for a convenient place to dump your dog for the day, sure, fine. But if you want a clean/hygienic, well monitored place, where your dog can be somewhat simulated and allowed fresh air on a nice day, this place is absolutely not it! And more importantly Sasha didn't like it. Not that I blame her. I'll pay more money for either a higher quality place or at-home care. Such a shame.

They not only took great care of our animals, but they watched over our house too. Very trustworthy and they came to our house three times a day to play with the dogs, refill food/ water bowls and even picked up the dog droppings in the yard. Everyday they wrote down notes on how the dogs were that day. They even texted us throughout the weekend to let us know everything was going well. We have a Maltese and a Great Dane to take care of, which are not the easiest dogs to handle in the world. Overall they get 6 stars out of 5. They exceeded our expectations and are overall just nice people. We will definitely being using them again! Thank you so much Lisa!

Even though my chihuahua is completely bipolar (His alter ego had been named "Frank" by Marianne and her crew) and can be the nicest sweetest little dude one minute and a total @$$ the next, he is still so very well taken care of, loved, and played with. I absolutely love Marianne and her staff! They are not only reliable, but they are trustworthy. I'm never home when she/they come by. In the warmer months they go for 30 minute walks, in the winter time, she stays inside and plays with them and lets them go potty in my backyard. When I go out of town, she will come by morning, noon, and night to let them out, feed and water them. She sometimes will fill my water dish if I didn't realize it was running low. She is so unbelievable with my pets, I really don't even know how to express it. She has such a strong love and devotion to animals... Sometimes I will take in foster dogs, and she will take just as wonderful care of them as well. She walks all of the dogs together, plays with them all together, and doesn't charge me extra. Santa is going to be good to her this year.

After the first experience with each of the other boarding facilities, our dog could not get out of the facility fast enough - and most of the time, he would refuse to go back inside the facility and would not let us leave us for the second boarding. We don't have that problem here. I fully trust my dog's intuition, and I fully trust the staff at AAPR-Royal Oak. We board several times a year - sometimes for a weekend, and every now and then for a full week. It doesn't matter how much time has passed in between visits, each time we show up for boarding we are greeted by the same handful of smiling faces, and they are always so excited to see our pup. And more importantly - he's excited to see them too. We only board overnight (with the daytime play of course), so I can't speak to any of the other available services. And our dog does not require any additional special treatment or services, so I can't speak to that either. I do wish that they were a little more consistent with the after boarding report cards that they send out electronically. It's always nice to get a little more detailed feedback about how boarding went. There are a few specific people who will take that extra few minutes to give us a quick recap if they're the ones bringing him out to us at the end of the stay, and for that I am so so grateful. I wouldn't hesitate to bring my dog here, nor would I hesitate to recommend AAPR- Royal Oak to friends and family.

King was dropped off at approximately 8:30 am to have the procedure and was informed that it would be completed by 3 pm. When I did not receive a phone call from Luv-N-Care, I called the clinic at 3:52 pm and was told that it would be about an hour before he would be ready to be picked up. After not hearing from the clinic after an hour, I drove to the hospital and arrived at 5:54 pm. I was told that they were finishing up with him, and I was escorted to the examining room. King was brought in a few minutes later, and I noticed a choker leash on his neck. When I arrived home with King, I noticed that King had a consistent cough, and I called their office at 6:35 pm, but the answering service picked up. I received a phone call from Luv-N-Care on Friday, May 30, 2025, at 1:43 pm to check on King, and I stated that he had a cough. I was told that the cough is normal and to call back if it gets worse. I called back the next day, on Saturday, May 31, 2025, and informed the clinic that King was still coughing and I was concerned about his breathing. I was told that he was intubated and probably has a sore throat, and if he is having issues, to bring him in on Monday. On Monday morning, at approximately 8:30 am, I took King back to Luv-N-Care because he was still having a cough and was having trouble breathing. A different veterinarian examined King, she said she had heard fluid in his lungs, but she could not provide further care because their X-ray machine was not functioning. I immediately took King to another Animal Hospital and arrived at 10:11 am. At the other Hospital, the veterinarian assessed King and determined that King had significant breathing problems, and the fact that he is stretching out his neck was a worrisome sign, as this is associated with a higher risk of respiratory arrest and death. The veterinarian ordered a Chest Xray. The xray showed severe pulmonary infiltrates (fliud on his lungs); the diagnosis included atypical aspiration, which usually occurs from choking, head trauma, or electrocution. It was recommended, for humane reasons (suffering from dyspnea), that euthanasia would be appropriate as he could not guarantee survival even with oxygen in the hospital. The final diagnosis was Severe pulmonary infiltrates, Suspect secondary to tracheal collapse exacerbated by intubation, he basically was drowning due to injury from their exacerbation. This loss of King has been very traumatic for our family. I truly believe that they were negligent in their care for our baby, King. I only spoken with Kimberly once on the phone, she said that she would contact the veterinarian from the other hospital and call me back to discuss but she never did.
