Oakland Bark Park is a treasured city park for the dog owners of Oakland Park. Located across from…read moreEasterlin Park and next to the railroad tracks, it is the first dog park to open in the city. A second dog park, Wag Dog Park recently opened in Oakland Park besides Richard E. Giusti Heart Parcours. Bark Park is divided into two sections: one for smaller dogs and another for larger dogs. This division is a great feature to ensure safety for dogs of different sizes and strengths. All of the agility equipment was recently upgraded and there are plenty of benches for owners to sit and watch their dogs, as well as tree shaded areas to relax, especially important during the hot Florida afternoons. The park is also equipped with water stations, dog waste bags, and trash cans, so it's easy to clean up after your pet and stay hydrated during your visit. One thing that stood out to me and that I appreciated is that the grounds are regularly maintained, and there's minimal litter or debris. Oakland Park's commitment to their dog families is evident in the care they take in their dog parks which provide a welcome space for pups to exercise and pet pawrents to socially connect.

I went with my senior rescued dog M-F at 7:30 for 10+ years as I dropped my sons off to school but after a few situations with irresponsible owners (after work crowd,) I felt it wasn't worth the aggravation AND the vet bills!! I decided to give it another chance last week and this morning was 4th successful dog park morning excursion. After 4 good days for a freshman dog park puppy, I decided to give it a thumbs up . He's only 6 months old but a large breed and the current science says to wait until closer to age 2 for large breed males to get neutered so that can present a few issues with OG alpha males but the morning owners are VERY mindful, attentive and responsible and were very welcoming to me and my puppy. I'm not ready to go with both dogs yet as one is a 13 y/o female schipperke/border collie and belongs with the small dogs but hopefully in the near future I'll feel confident enough to bring both.

Designed by Bruce Devlin and Robert Von Hagge, the course served as a focal point for the community as it hosted major PGA and USGA qualifiers. The community is considered to be one of the premier neighborhoods in west-central Hollywood combining quiet, upscale residential living with close proximity to urban conveniences and major transportation routes. Emerald Hills has several lovely parks including this one. Park amenities include a large dog park, gazebo, open green space, picnic areas, walking path, and a large, modern playground that was installed two years ago. The playground is several stories tall with tube slides and climbing structures. When I stopped by on a Saturday night for a quick walk around the park the playground rang out with the laughter of children having a ball while a number of parents were keeping careful watch. All of the parks in Emerald Hills are filled with families highlighting what a close knit community this is.

To my surprise, there must have been one hundred kids and parents packing the playground, basketball court and baseball field. A few benches under a large shade tree to take a break from the extreme heat today. Noticed they had a 'Little Free Library' constructed next to the benches. Across the field at the South end of the park was a fenced in dog park where we took the puppy to play with another small dog and he loved it. A water fountain and doggy poop bags are offered. No shade whatsoever so beware.

I say this because located beyond the dog park areas I see lovely shaded trails and a big lake that is kind of hidden by trees as well as a play area for the kids. We will definitely venture out and beyond on one of our future visits. Being that my dog is a sweet senior, we just don't cover as much ground as we would like but there's always time to come back again and again. This just gives us more to look forward to on future visits. Besides having a separate fenced in areas for both small & large dogs, each park has several play &/or training obstacles that are extra perks you don't find at many dog parks these days. This park is protected by beautiful palms, willows, oaks, and more. Beautiful landscaping and I have to say SUPER SUPER clean. Owners obviously appreciate this park and clean up after their pets as everyone should at every darn dog park. I followed directions via GPS via the Yelp app and when you pull in you will see tennis courts and basketball courts on your right and then there is a lane to the left which has big paw dog prints that lead to the park. ...and the rest is history! Take your pup there already!

In ancient times, the Tequesta used the river for travel and in the 1800's, the Seminoles set up a trading post to service early Miami settlers. Later on the land was a limestone quarry. Dedicated in 1936, Greynold's is Miami's second oldest park. It was created by the Civilian Conservation Corps. which was part of Roosevelt's New Deal Program that was set up to provide work for Americans who were suffering from the Great Depression. The limestone from the quarry was used for the buildings in the park. Greynold's is one on my favorite parks in Miami. I have been to the west side but this was my first time visiting the east end. The park has a lot of beautiful trees which support the local bird population. As I was walking around I saw a red shouldered hawk swoop down for a meal. Park amenities in this part of the park include a restroom, dog park, and kayak launch. There is a vendor renting kayaks or bring your own. You can paddle up the Oleta River to the intracoastal, north into Dumbfoundling Bay and back to the launch. It is a 6-7 mile loop with nice scenery for most of the paddle. The only thing I dislike about Greynold's park is they charge $7 for parking on weekends. Parks are funded by tax payers so I am used to parking for free. Greynold's started charging for parking over a year ago and I am not sure why North Miami felt they needed to start doing that. Possibly they were trying to be like nearby Oleta River Park which also has kayak rentals and charges a similar fee for entrance to the park.

The trail is about a mile around the lake and flat, making it an easy walk. Perfect for the kids to ride bikes or kick a ball around. There is a small event space available, restrooms are fairly clean but has no toilet paper. There are no drinking fountains. There is ample parking available however, they tend to fill up quickly on weekends. On the morning I walked the trail, there were a few doggy classes in progress with the cutest pups! Owners were friendly enough to let us pet them. This park is used a lot for photo shoots as well. We saw someone preparing a "Will You Marry Me?" back drop.

Stretching across only a modest 50-acres, it's the perfect place to unwind within some beautiful nature & it makes you feel as if the city isn't only a stones throw away. Offering free entry, as well, it's a great place to get outside & enjoy your day. Whether you want to walk, fish, exercise or relax, this park is the place to go. It only has one trail but it's sizable. The trail wraps entirely around the crystal clear lake & then some. There's an area with a decent incline/decline in elevation which is about as good as you're going to get in FL. I especially love the massive Australian pine trees that are throughout the entire park. Not only does it provide beautiful scenery & a home for the wildlife, it offers shade as you're on the trail. Keep in mind there's some areas that are totally clear of trees so it definitely gets hot during midday. For the most part, however, I'd say a good 3/4 of the park has some sort of cover/shade you can utilize. This park has been a part of my childhood & I still visit to this day so that speaks for itself. It's always been well maintained which is something I truly appreciate. Guests, for the most part, do a great job at being mindful of their belongings & not leaving trash. The city employees are good about staying on top of it, as well. Overall, I have nothing but great things to say about Wolf Lake & I love coming. Do yourself a favor & find an awesome local park like this one to get outside.
