First of all... they were late! The groomer obviously wasn't capable of handling my 100 pound labrador! She was scared to get in the van. I came and tried to help but she refused to get in. The fact that he was just watching me wrestle with her next to a main street and not do anything about it, is unacceptable. He seemed so nonchalant about the whole situation. I now have a scratch on my hand from trying to get her in the van. And for them to up the price THAT much more for me telling them to bring 2 groomers next time, isn't very professional either. $245?! Seriously? Instead of being genuinely apologetic & making it right with me, that's how they run their business? I would steer clear if I were you. Next time they should ask a client if they are located on a main street as well for safety reasons. At least they can pull into the alley & it's safer that way. Thank you but no thank you. I am so happy to have found this place. We were looking for a new groomer for quiet some time and stumbled upon this cute place on our way to the dog park. After setting up an appointment we dropped Bear off this morning. His Groomer was Julie and she did an amazing job! I was so happy to see my little man fresh and clean again. He is not easy to handle since he hates getting his feet touched. He also gets easily excited, moves around a lot and also voices his excitement for everyone to hear ... This place is fantastic! I am a big fan of supporting local businesses, so when I moved to the west SFV I was really hoping to find a groomer I loved as much as the one in our old neighborhood. The pricing on their full groom is very reasonable. More importantly they, do a wonderful job with my baby (the sweetest shih tzu in the world!). I have walked out of groomers before because my very friendly pup would drag his feet going in, but he happily walks right into Head to Tail. I love this place. I bring both my dogs Daisy and Ziggy every 6-8 weeks and I've never had a problem. My dogs are always happy and clean when I pick them up. I loved that I am always called before they do anything that I might not want... For example by cocker spaniel was a little more matted then normal and I was called and asked if it was okay to shave her down. Therefore, there are never any surprises when I arrive. They always finish in a timely matter and to be quiet honest the prices are affordable as well. Another place I was going to would charge almost a $100 for grooming my little 10 lb shih tzu (that's another review for another day). Bottom line is my husband and I are very happy with the service. We took our dog in for grooming and shampoo, they kept our dog for over 8 hours and she returned looking like she went through surgery. Jagged edges cut all over the place and patches or fur missing. Worst haircut in 10 years A random person actually asked if my dog had just gone through surgery. I immediately asked for a refund for botched job. Instead they promised a discount upon next visit. We came in for the next visit a few months later and said we can't honor the discount because we waited too long... If that's not a pathetic excuse for customer service, I don't know what is. read more

I'm not one to leave a yelp review and in fact this is my first one ever, but I just want to watch out for the fellow animal owners out there looking for a good groomer. I do not ever plan on going back here. It's a shame too because the women at the front desk were very sweet and I had high hopes because of all the fairly decent reviews I saw on Yelp before coming in! The day before I made the appointment I called to ask all the general questions: pricing, what the grooming entails, treatment of the animal, etc etc. I told the woman (Jennifer) that I have a puppy (9 month old miniature long haired dachshund) who is sweet but DOES have a lot of energy. She ensured me that that was fine and she was excited to meet my dog and that it would be $47 for the bath, haircut, nail trimming, and anal expression. I thought that sounded fair so I made the appointment for the next day. When I came to pick up my pup after the grooming I was very disappointed. I know long haired dogs are hard to groom so I did take that into consideration, but my pup looked so choppy I could see where they made every snip with the scissors. BUT THE WORST PART WAS THIS: They charged me $57 instead of the $47 they quoted me! I brought this up to the groomer as I was paying and she said the reason it is $10 more was because he was a puppy and normally the price starts at $47 but he was "difficult," therefore it's more. BAD BUSINESS!! If that was the case they should have warned/told me that on the phone when I called the day before and/or when I dropped him off for the grooming. LASTLY, they had the nerve to ask me to tip and if they could schedule his next appointment in the future. I politely declined the offer and walked out. ****UPDATE REVIEW**** The owner (Carly) called me and apologized for everything. She was very very sweet and credited back to me the $10 up-charge and really took the time to explain to me everything and how sorry she was. I'm assuming she saw this yelp review and took initiative to make it all better. THAT SPOKE VOLUMES! She really did care about my business and my pup and that to me meant more than the mistake. read more

My dog, TJ is a pain when it comes to grooming (esp with his ears and paw-- pet smart gave up on him) but here at Head to Tail Grooming, they are so sweet and friendly and makes sure TJ is groomed well. I took my dogs here to get groomed and based off of where I live and other Yelp reviews, I decided to come here rather than another groomer really close by. This place was walking distance from my apartment so my dogs got some exercise and a bathroom stop before getting groomed. There isn't a grassy area or anything outside for a dog to relieve themselves but hey, that's why we walked there. Anywho, the receptionist was super nice and when I called to make an appointment, they asked that I bring a copy of their shots (totally understandable). I filled out some paper work and showed them pictures of how I wanted their hair cut and I love it when places like this double check to make sure my number is correct because I've gone to places where they never called me and I had to call them to see if my dogs were done. After a few hours, they called me to let me know my dogs were done and I walked over to get them. They did a really good job, followed the pictures that I showed them, and I span a wheel for a discount on our next visit-- SWEET!!! Definitely recommend this place!!! read more

I absolutely love Head To Tail Grooming! I have 5 indoor cats that need frequent nail trims. Head To Tail loves animals and really knows how to handle them -- even cats, who can sometimes prove challenging. Prices are fair, and the nail trims are precise. Most of the cats do fairly well when trimmed, but Inky can be a pain. He growls and hisses, but since he has lost most of his teeth he doesn't really present a threat. And, he doesn't scratch people. Head To Tail knows how to handle Inky and alleviate his anxiety for a clean trim every time. I have been going to Head To Tail for quite a while now, but have just never written a review. I wanted to rectify that, because I think that a reputable place that caters to both the needs of pets and pet owners should be showcased when it does a fine job. And, I am perfectly satisfied with the warm, friendly service my cats and I receive at Head To Tail. I heartily recommend it highly.
