They were hired for all air vents and a dryer cleanout on a 2,000 sq. ft. house, and particularly a bad smell coming in the laundry room. On the day of the cleaning Chris and Lee arrived during the agreed upon time window. I showed Lee around the house to the various vents and asked questions about the places I couldn't fully clear a path to the vent. The house's vents hadn't been cleaned during the time I've owned the place so it needed significant work. The same applied for the dryer. The cleaning took roughly 3 hours. I think they did a good job and made sure to take care of cleaning any messes their work caused. The one exception was the dryer blow-out which was left under the outdoor vent. My single gripe was that the final price ended up $100 over the original quote without discussion. However, it was clear that they had a lot of work to do that couldn't have been known without taking a look at things.

I was told they did the location, which was not too far from the previous location. DUSTOUT was a small company of 3 or 4 people, including the owner when I had my parents' ducts cleaned, and there was no answering service back in January. In fact, I spoke with the owner himself, who was helpful and knowledgable. In that they were a small company, I wanted to help them by making a point to give them a good review for good service. Fast forward to now, they have a whole answering service apparatus with a phone tree. Everyone loves an answering service with a phone tree! /s So I left a message with the details of the new job. They said they would call back. They didn't. I called *three more times* over the space of a week. I emailed the owner. Nothing. Crickets. I asked if they had new ownership and they said, "no". I asked for an estimate like last time, and now they tell me that they don't give estimates before they arrive. Now, one is supposed to allow them to come and they will tell you how much the job is after they arrive to do the job. (?) Who would agree to that? Not sure what to believe about DUSTOUT now. I have *still* not received a call back. I have not received an email back. So I hired another small company. I'll keep you guys posted on the job he does. I guess DUSTOUT used to be great, but I have no idea what is going on at this company now. If you're like me, your spring cleaning list just keeps growing. One of the items I had been…read moreputting off was air duct cleaning. Unpopular, unsightly, and rather boring, it's a job that had to be done nonetheless. Jim from Duct Works did a great job on my air ducts in my rental home, making the entire process stress free. My initial call to Jim was just for a quote and to answer a few questions and although I called a few more places for quotes, it's Jim's honesty and straight-forwardness that made me want to use him for the job. He's the owner/operator of DuctWorks and I liked knowing that the person I was talking with on the phone would be the person who would show up for the job. Lucky for me, Jim had an opening the following day and we were able to knock the job out before the weekend. Although I wasn't present for the actual cleaning, my tenant said that Jim was friendly and did the job efficiently and quickly. I followed up with a phone call to Jim to see if there was any issues and thankfully there weren't any (whew! No dead animals in the ducts. Always a relief) A few things I learned from calling around about duct cleaning is that some of the national chains won't do an older home where they suspect or are unsure of asepsis around the ducts. DuctWorks took every precaution in working with my older home that the other, larger chains passed on. Also, DuctWorks uses a truck instead of the handheld vacs ensuring that the dust and particles are removed safely and quickly without re-emitting anything into the air. The prices are reasonable for duct work cleaning and given that it was a long time coming for my house, it was well worth it. I've already recommended him to home owners for their home maintenance.
